Did you know it took a very long time to discover the penguins sexuality and reproduction process?
It was so brutal the chased victorians who studied it only wrote it in ancient greek so only "gentelmen" could read it.
I'm fairly certain several species of penguins have nicer rituals than very brutal rituals! There are six genera that each have a few species each. Looking at how different the homo and pan (human and chimpanse genera) who are in the same tribe of the same family. Along with the bonobo somewhere. Just pulling -all- penguins over a comb feels unfair to the poor birds!

Well, there exists so much more fun and interesting stuff to do in the computer realm! Game design I can see as being a very fulfilling hobby if you want a creative outlet. But if you spend that much time learning scripting personally it doesn't appeal.
I'd likely find creating programs that can learn to play complicated games more fun as "work" than making games as work. (At least if I were to spend 3-5 years studying computer programming).
So much -more- to game design than just the scripting (that is very important) that I feel if you go for a computer science degree. Go for the -science-.

Well, the game design course I'm taking is very low in programming skills, it's mostly deisgn. Things like narrative, image studies, sounds, layout, work models, game study etc. etc.

I am gonna go on a stretch and say that it's probably you awakening during a deep sleep cycle.
When you sleep you keep going in cycles of light sleep and deep sleep. Awakening from light sleep is easy, awakening from Deep sleep will make you feel tired and sluggish. I for example can awaken easily at 7-8 hours of sleep but 9 hours? it makes me feel tired despite that I sleep for longer.
Young people need more sleep, yes. But that means they regularly need the 8 hours. That's atleast what I remember from any study I've read. As far as I can tell the extra hours over 8 hold little to no benefit for your brains.

It is, sleep goes in cycles, 3 NREM (non-rapid eye movement) and 1 REM. The latter which gets longer the longer you've slept. I'm not exactly how transitions out of REM into NREM is exactly, which of the phases go again. But fairly sure that both light and deep sleep happen.
If you wake up while in deep sleep or while in REM. You'll be groggy, slow, unresponsive. And generally just take longer waking up.
If you wake up in stage 1, that's hardly sleeping, you'll bounce out of bed and go about your day.
However! The subjective feeling of the situation might make you feel like you are always in deep slumber. Or your rhythm usually goes so you have to wake up from the deep slumber.
Or, the fact that you aren't actually conscious while you sleep and for that reason are unaware of your surroundings (for most parts) creating an illusion to your awake mind of always being in deep sleep if you sleep good.

I ask why, "ITS BURNING IN THE BASEMENT" Oh shit, ran downstairs, call firemen, explain things while getting birds and everyone out.. Firemen comes, gets control of stuff.. I talk with several policemen (and women) explaining everything. Then I get sent to hospital for check up... I'm ok, everything's fine, but fuck that's not fun when you're home alone.

Considering lack of mathematical language used I'd never assume partition being there. Could just be "multiply the original 2 by 2". And you used one of few sequences where the order doesn't matter. Even if you start with 2/2=1 you get 2. (Since 2+2-2=2)

Worst bad luck I've had in a WhiteWolf game is in Hunter. Where I missed the charging Werewolf and hit a group member instead. With a silver slug from a 12 gauge shotgun. And then did massive damage. Thankfully body-armor saved some of the day or he would have instantly died from having his shoulder blown off.

I think so but some Priest might play with Dex instead, using dex weapon (like a whip) and ranged weapons (I had a crossbow).
This ofc does mean I was shit in melee combat thus it would be needed to have someone who tanks. With a whip however it means I could make a dex-melee attack from behind the tank.
I was a low strength, high wisdom/dex, medium constitution/charisma/Intelligence priest. If we contiuned playing, at level 4 I think I would become proficient in dex weapon, thus making me much better at using that whip. With a +3 with dex attack it was pretty ok with it without proficiency.
My brush with D&D is one short game and Neverwinter Nights games.
Haven't played that much D&D. Played one (short) adventure in 3.5 and then some 4th edition. Generally not much of a fan of it.
The problem I have with the system is "levels". That such for any organic storytelling and world building since they are just so unrealistic in how they work.

Got real nice Legendary ring from the Butcher (Act 1 End boss), it summons a suicide minion for me every 10 sec. (4 max).
They do ridiculous amount of damage, one-shotting any strong enemies.
I had 4 of them when I ran in to the Act 2 first boss. She died in literally less then 2 seconds. The boss cutscene just ended, I charge in, she dead.
Sounds... fairly amusing.

I didn't know you could overcome allergies. I knew you have medicine that reduces the effect but I never knew you could fully surpress it o.O
Well, I know it is not the normal milk allergies I had, I was allergic to milk-proteins. I slowly build up what appears to be immunity towards it (like, 14-16 years). I still don't drink milk and I only eat milk-made butter (instead of margarine). For cooking I still use oat milk.
All my other allergies still work at 100% Eat a egg? Lying on the floor ready to vomit. Eat a kiwi? Sit on the loo for a while etc. etc.
It's quite possible to get rid of allergies. I was allergic to nuts, hospital ASAP or dead level allergic. These days I can eat nuts without trouble. Barring the fact that I still have trouble with the taste. .. I associate it with impending death.
2 weeks ago I finally got rid of the cough from a chest infection I caught during the summer. One week into university I've caught another one *grumblegrumble*
Yes...allergies can be treated. How fast and fully depends on your genes and severeness. But mostly it just takes time.

Sleep, eat, cry.
They are cute but boring.
A bit bigger babies can be really fun and cute. If they cry you figure out what's wrong. Tired or hungry? Deliver to parents or put to bed and get to sleep (can be very annoying). In need of a diaper change? Change it and clean etc.
Which is which isn't that easy always. Tired and hungry most so.

Once, while at sea... (I was a royal navy submariner if you didn't know), i had whats known as a 'night terror.'
basically, the boat had been stuck on the surface in a tropical storm for two days, the whole thing was like a sauna. we couldn't dive to get away from it. so we was all tired, hungry (was hard keeping food down) and far too warm.
When we did dive, we had to sleep on our bedding, stripped down with curtains open and fans on full blast to not sweat to death. When i did manage to sleep i had a night terror where i imagined everything was in red lighting... onboard that is, and we was hurtling nose (bow) down into the depths. people and objects flying everywhere while people screamed in panic. as we impacted i woke, and made the mistake of trying to sit bolt up right....
...knocked myself out, hitting my head on the bed above me. woke up, with an egg sized bruise and thought i'd wet myself. turns out i'd been sweating that much it just felt i had.
I shit you not, I have never felt so afraid in my life.

I had issues with shadow like people wandering about my bed as a child. Maybe till i was about 6-7 years old creepy as fuck. I mean it is highly likely that it was just the over active imagination/dreams of a child. But to this day it freaks me out remembering my "bad dreams"

Sleep paralysis is when your mind have almost awaken but not your body, leaving your paralyzedly in bed but still somewhat conscious. Everyone with sleep paralysis describe it as some form of nightmare with creatures going around or going closer to you.
That could be the reason you remember it so well, it was not a dream, you were not really asleep.
I think I had is once, I could not move in my bed and I felt 'something' running around me inside the bed under my blanket. Don't know what it was but I could feel my sheet being pulled where it was moving like it was going really fast.

Yeah it's a common thing, especially for children and it did pass by time i was 6 or 7. I used to freak my mother out as a toddler chatting away to people she couldnt see as i was read bedtime stories or laugh at things that werent there I dont remember that obviously. I do remember seeing them looming over me darting about the room and groups of them standing in the corner. It's a fun phenomenon.

They should rather have some tech to make their shields and alike better. Shield/protect their more vulnerable sections less so. Like disrupting the enemy sensors so they will hit the medbay instead of the reactor.

The problem with improving shields, is it leads to an arms race. Look at WWII tanks, they got heavier and heavier and more and more well armored, as that happened. The guns got better and better at punching through armor, until they just went over to main battle tanks, agile and not quite as well armored tanks because it just wasn't worth it anymore. Sure, there's still reactive armor and things like that. But the main thing is to not get hit.

You have 100% of mental faculties, part of them goes to observing your surroundings constantly. Then if you do 3-4 things at the same time, you use less and less of your capacity to do those things well. And your attention shifts like using 50% to your typing and 30% to listening a debate and then you concentrate on the debate 50% and to typing 30%.
As if you would properly multitask and like many proponents of "Multitasking is awsome, I can do everything simultanously and well!" then you'd use 100% or near to -each- task. Which is impossible.

As Regorn started, it's not about Multitasking. It's about access of information.
When working on something, say writing a report about some scientific data. Having that data on a screen so you never have to alt-tab, just turn your head/eyes a little. Makes writing easier as you can then write and read at the same time. Not having to check the data between it and remember it. So the process gets more efficient.
Having Email and Calendar access is also a working thing that's good. You see you get an email, and you can instantly look at the sender and topic and judge importance. Instead of having to, again, tab around between windows or fiddle with your phone.
Important email? Get it done. Something irrelevant, leave it unread until later.
Calendar access helps planning if you get a phonecall, and you can make deadlines and such very viewable. I know when my mother is working she almost always have her physical work calendar on her desk so she can look around in that if she needs.
The IM part and Video/Music part is not work related. But well. Never claimed I wanted it for work. I miss having two screens when I had a "Work Screen" and a "Video/Music+Chat screen". Even if most of the work I did was play games.
Most people with more than two screens are professionals who do it so they can DECREASE multitasking by having as much information at hand as possible at the lowest effort. That way they can increase productivity since they can see things with ease and with the "New information and calendar" screen plan if it's urgent and important or not.
So this isn't about "OMG I WANT TO DO FIFTEEN THINGS AT ONCE!" It's more
"It's nice to have a bigger work-space, even if it's digital".
I'd love to have two screens, actually...
Especially with drawing, for example. So I won't have to keep tabbing away from my drawing program to answer something on skype, or to find a fitting reference picture, or a 'how to' guide to color something.. Which is just annoying as sometimes they're step by step and I have to tab between internet/drawing program for every step, and memorize stuffs. (like brush settings..) And it makes it harder for me to compare the two things to see if I did it right!
Also, I just use my tv as second screen at times, so I can put on a movie from my laptop to there. (Though that is too far away for drawing or anything else.) Easy! :D
My PC screen might be my TV screen.
But should invest in a secondary this year, or early next.

For causal "fun" use I would agree with you. However, for a workable setup I don't.
For several things lots of information can be very important. For some jobs email and planning are very important at the same time as the former. Had my mother had two screens for her work I'm fairly certain she'd always have her mail open on the second. When working she has it open anyway but needs to tab to get at it.
Multiple screens gets important with data intensive work where it gives ease of access. So, you (again, as I said) don't want multiple screens for multitasking. You want it so you can focus better on whatever you're doing by only needing to turn your head for information.
Possibly.
But I've met this issue mainly through work where our bosses think multitasking is actually something that works.
And so, promote having multiple screens.

I have a PC and a laptop no idea what they run i tend to try for the mid range stuff ( like wine) I am not a tech person all the numbers and nonsensical terms on PC parts make my eyes glaze over, so long as I can internet and game comfortably. I only have one screen as its all I need.
p.s I am so very bored at work, first night shift in months that's been quiet all the drunks, idiots, students, scumbags and junkies seem to have taken the night off

This would be it! Most of cosmic rays are gamma rays.
Then there are some odd sub-atomic particles, but those aren't really what is commonly defined as radiation unless they are electrons! (Or positrons).
The only reason some of them can reach the ground is because they travel extremely close to the speed of light and for them less time passes and they think they travel shorter than what we observe they do!

As for radiaton. It's commonly three types.
Alpha-rays: This is pretty much just Helium atoms travelling around hitting things.
Beta-rays: Comes in two forms, Beta+ and Beta-. Beta- is (mostly) an electron, (with some light and a anti-neutrino). It's smaller, the reason it can penetrate things the alpha ray can't.
Gamma-rays: Just light, so a photon. Generally we call light with a wavelenght shorter than 10^(-12) meters gamma-rays (a nanometer is 10^-9). Above that we call it X-rays, but that's basically the same thing just less energy. Photons are basically just an infinity small point, which is why they can penetrate most things.
As for damage potential per particle. The Alpha-ray is the most dangerous, since they are so big and carry so much energy on impact. ... They just tend to stop and hit shit and cause no damage. (But read up on Radon Houses for an example).
I don't think we can turn radiation into shields, I mean, how would that even work?
Closes thing I think we can get to shields are probably Mass Effect Kinetic Shields, if we figure out gravity.

What cosmic rays I am refering to is the one the space people are worried. Can't remember the exact name, but its those rays that only the magnetic field/shield of Earth can block.
Out in space, we have nothing to protect us from those rays, which is why we can't travel far as the exposure would be deadly.
And we'd need a shield against them. Not made out of them. Quite the difference!
And it's generally high energy Gamma-rays with a sparcing of muon, tau, electrons, and other subatomic particles. Generating a strong enough magnetic field would keep (some of) these at bay.
As for shields. High-energy electromagnetic shields would likely work best at repelling shit. (As long as that shit is made out of stuff with electric or magnetic charge).
Would just fry shit inside of it due to electric and magnetic fields being far to silly due to the needed power. =D (Unless what it protects have magnetic and electric shielding to just silly degrees)

No shields we can make are strong enough to block those rays.
Which is why if we can manage to create an electromagnetic field as strong as Earths, around a spaceship. Well, that would able us to travel in space for further distances. But we'd also need to be able to create artificial gravity. Which they can to some degree with spinning rooms for example. As the kind of ship they got in Interstellar would be inconvenient.

Define him as you want. But for the main characters of the series/movie he is the foe they are chasing. Eventually anyway.
And the smartest man alive does not mean you won't be sucking at some stuff. Many series have a "smart" villain that gets foiled by his own stupidity. Even if he's supposed to be smarter than whole of humanity put together.

I like Constantine myself he has magic shamanistic based but almost believable powers that he rarely uses and has aged in real time he is in his mid 60s now, its a shame the movie was so meh and missed the point.As too why i liked him growing up i guess it was due to his bi-sexuality i kinda latched onto him. still regardless the comics have a character thats very well written and fleshed out. I'd recommend him as a good gateway to comics.

I'm a huge fan of Alan Moore's work, as much as he is a bit of a dick in real life. I still think he's one of the best graphic novel writers out there.
I followed The Walking Dead for a long time before gradually losing interest, haven't read it for like a year now, last that happened when I was reading was them gearing up for war with Negan. Currently reading New 52 Batman, it's grand enough. They've changed some of the backstories of characters though, I really didn't like their change to Mr. Freeze. Nora isn't even his wife!
I think the next series I'll pick up will probably be Preacher, or maybe The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Look at the guy in Norway (think it was) who uses The Walking Dead games to teach ethics.

Haven't played any strange games lately. Only Dota2, Dark Souls 2, and Rocket League really.
Steel takes Iron and Carbon. Nothing more.
But also, Crusader Kings is one my list to play...since some friends have it.
If you have time to learn it, Crusader Kings II is great. Even if Victoria II will always be better than CK and EU. (In my personal preference).
The tutorial is crap. The Spanish christian nations are good learning countries at the William the conqueror start (original). Don't start with to big a realm when learning. You'll get screwed over.
As for steel. Generally you have Chrome and some other metals in it along with Iron and Carbon. For different traits you want in the steel. Rigidity, hue, strength, etc. Same as you have Zinc or some other very non-"noble" metal for rust proofing.
So "Iron and Carbon nothing more" isn't really correct. Even if those two are the general base (even more so in early Steel).
CK II is great, play it with a couple of friends specially if you're new to it. Have one good player as the king of a realm, and the rest as the counts etc.
Iron and carbon is what is needed for steel, ordinary no fancy stuff steel. It is true that you can mix all sorts of stuff to steel to give it different qualities.
Also, Crusader Kings 2 is in many ways like Europa Universalis right? If so, I likely don't need much in tutorials.

Oh how I miss my Europa save where I made Burgundy last from 1470 when it was supposed to have fallen to 1700! Driving a wedge into Europe, taking Northwest Africa, Australia, parts of India and nearly the whole North America!
did you know the creator of Crusader King and Europa Universalies is based in Sweden? And because of this they always make Sweden slightly stronger.

Sure, it was great once...but everything falls.
Besides, when I've played Europa Universalis, Sweden has been subjugated pretty much every time by every small nation near it.
Sweden has the potential to have the strongest Land Army in EU4. If you're lucky with one or two events and do the right techs. Can get insane discipline and get the highest quality troops out there. Then it's just man-power issues.
As for the "slightly stronger". That isn't really true. Strongest among the nordics if all are in modern form? Yes. But Denmark is stronger through most of CK II unless you get really lucky. A time when they were, historically, stronger.
In Victoria II the Nordics tend to be sideshows. But Denmark or Sweden occasionally make it out. As a player Sweden is an easier time since Prussia isn't gunning for your southern province.
During the EU4 period Sweden did become one of the main players of Europe, until stagnation (and idiotic Aggressive war with Russia). We were a fairly large and unified area that could field big armies. Towards the south it was a cluster-fuck of tiny states under nominal rule. With greater powers raising and falling. Sweden also happened to have some of the best military commanders in Europe during the 1600 and 1700 hundreds.
So, maybe Sweden is a tiny bit stronger than it should. But not enough to affect stuff to be unreal in grand schemes of things.
All I got from that was "Lucky" :D
But Burgundy can be damm strong because it sits on one of the wealthiest spots in Europe.

I never liked superman. in fact i hate him. so here's an essay on why.
He has too many powers and not relatable and is practically a god. Without his silly amount of powers, he wouldnt even be a interesting person. He never earned his powers, he just had them Batman, Iron man, Spider-Man, Thor, The Hulk and Captain America are so engaging because they each have a specific fear or obstacle that is central to their character. Superman doesn’t have the realization that his weapons are being used for evil, like Iron Man, or the duality of The Hulk
No internal conflict to speak of. He is good because he is good. Not exactly interesting, unlike batman who protects Gotham even if they dont understand him or hate him.
His story arcs are the same thing over and over. He doesnt stand for anything. Christ, even Batman Stands for Gotham Cpt Murica for freedom and murcia

His only weakness is a rock light years away and is pretty much in short supply and even then it only weakens him somewhat. Unlike someone like Thor whose powers come from his hammer. Thor’s weakness is also his greatest strength, which serves to keep him intriguing.
Zero personality. He has no character arc where he learns a lesson or has to go through a great loss to realize his full potential. Superman is just good all the time no matter what is happening to him or what the circumstances may be. Superman is too distant and too perfect to be a compelling hero.
Zero worthwhile enemies. Batman has joker Thor has loki All mirror opposites of each other. I mean Lex Luthor and Zod are his most famous enemies and also infinitely weaker than he is. not counting doomsday who is also retarded. The idea of having the villain being weaker than the hero is a great one but not if the don’t have a legitimate way to challenge the hero. For example, just about every villain that The Hulk ever faced paled in comparison to him but it was the nature of Bruce Banner as a character that kept those villains compelling. Banner was like a ticking time bomb whenever he wasn’t The Hulk so in reality he was his own villain.
To summarize this overly long personal rant and fuck you to superman.

Mneh, I'd been on Defias since launch day, so it may seem a little over the top but I always felt very much in tune with the health and population of the server. I'd seen it eb, flow, rise and dip and as a result just knew out of instinct it was never going to be salvaged, and that the time to jump ship was near/close.
So I poked the officers a bit. The real credit goes to Sadok though, who put a concerted amount of effort into that poll that gauged everyone's feelings, and the officer teams efforts/planning that came after. It also took a lot of courage on their part to make the leap, and weather the varying shades of criticism.

Krogs, I sensed that the winds were changing on DB back when I was still playing on Muzjhath. The DB community had never been large, but it had gotten quite a bit smaller over Cata. Even with some influx by migration to DB bringing it up a bit again. But it was a declining polynomial curve. So while going down having smaller rises is natural.
Not like this was the first more to AD suggestion either. Just the one at the right time. Which was my point above.

The reason they don't work well is simple.
They are a company. A company has one and only one reason to do anything. Money. They will do as much cheating, loophole using, victim blaming, cutting costs, cutting quality and sliding away from responsibility as they possibly can.
If they could screw you with a 10 foot pole every day for money and you couldn't resist, they would do it. If hey can get away from murder, they don't give two damns about your life. If they have a monopoly on something, they customer support becomes a sham.

That sounds very bitter. In my experience goodwill isn't uncommon, word of mouth isn't a bad way to get costumers to pick you. If someone I know tells me to pick one company over another because if food experiences with it. that's more likely to swing me around then any commercial.
Good PR is important to most companies

And if everyone does things as bad, then suuure. You can tell your friend about the company and avoid it. Then someone else tells how the other company is bad and how the company you think is better than this other one. Multiply this and the companies get both positive PR as negative.
As an example, the phone operators here. They are virtually identical on their practises...so the population treats them like cars, giving both positive and negative PR and bushradio news.

Oh I have slight bit cynical view of looking at economy sure. That comes from watching what businesses do, how they conduct the business. This from general news and business magazines, the company I work for and how especially experts explain economy workings to the public.
They tend to get away with it because most buyers are rather apathetic unless shit gets BAD.
Games Workshop is a glorious example. They do mostly crap, act like bullies whenever they can, and raise prices over and over. However, most players keep playing and paying.
So why should they act otherwise?
Same as ages ago with Modern Warefare: 2. Huge Steamgroup of "boycott because noe dedicated servers!"
Then the user page was FILLED with people playing it on release date.

Deliveries remind me of a case not long ago where some peep had sent his phone to the repair through mail. Packaged it as he was advised and it arrived to the repair in a 90 degree angle....it had gone to the wrong "line" in the post office and got stuck between the roller things that move the post on the long lines.
It was 600 euro phone, the postal office will compensate for 40 euros. And well...they just say the phone was not well enough packaged even if it had two bubblewrap layers, double wrapped in paper and in a small cardboard box.
Ugh. Usually I'd be able to handle it just fine, but my mental state lately haven't been so good, so it's tearing a lot on me.
I can't speak for Finland in that, but in Sweden the postal service has in their terms that anything above a certain value won't be fully compensated in case of damage or loss. But for a minor fee you can add an insurance for that on your package. I sent my girlfriends phone to Denmark after she forgot it. I think the extra fee was around 3 euro or so.
A 600 euro phone just isn't covered by their insurance.
Oh, surely they got their terms and conditions, which pretty much state that 40 euros is the max compensation on -anything- and they first answer to anything is "Your fault".
Which makes me chuckle at the situations where they muck something up and still blame the package sender :D

The standard letter is a piece of paper that -might- have sentimental value. Or it's a bill for money. But I assume that they are business mail, cost more to send, and have a higher priority since you pay higher for them. Which is a good thing since I as a consumer don't want those to get lost.
(In Sweden I think bills and things around money are just "Priority letter". Which anyone can pay for).
Still, piece of paper. Cheap, lightweight, no big value.
In the former case they can't break and someone's out â,¬1000. If a bill any company worth dealing with will send another bill once or twice (with penalties) before things gets bad. So if it's lost in the mail things can be dealt with.
Same as if it's a regular bill you ought to know it should have arrived by the natural due date and can call and ask about it. -No money lost.
Now, say in your normal letter you have a â,¬100 bill. The post can't know it, so why pay special attention to that letter? Then it falls out of the bag and down the drain when opening a truck. Somehow. Who'd be at fault here?

With packaging, same story. Most small packages (size a cellphone would fit in) are just bigger letters. Maybe some candy. No real value.

And they can also get broken and dented.
But if I'll send someone a big box filled with candy, or the same sized box with a new computer screen. I know which one I'd pay insurance for.

And hey, it'd all be fair if they had like different services like
1. Pay little, package delivery a maybe.
2. Pay little more, package delivery a strong possible.
3. Pay much more, package delivery gets there, no guarantee if in one piece.
4. Pay a lot more, package deliver gets there with a guarantee in one piece.
5. Be business and there won't be any problems, whatsover.
But they don't have it. Only regular mail which is PRed as being reliable and jadajada. Then insured business mail that costs much more and is just extra special.

It's not often you need to send something with mail. If you can afford a 600 euro phone you can afford to send it safely. Otherwise you risk having to pay for a new one.
Mail IS reliable. It's a very low number of packages that break or get lost. Probably in the ballpark of 1 out of 1000 rather then 1%

I'm a student. Just mentioning that. I also think our entire economic system is mostly bullshit, but for now it's the best alternative still.

That is the line that when used, anyone in a position of power will just nod their head and stuff subsidies in or help them to stay in monopoly without anything changing.
Whining doesn't help unless it's a big plurality, or a majority.
Also seem's that the big letter company in Finland and Sweden are the same. And I really can't complain about their services in Sweden.
As for me. I generally think the world at large continues to grow better. Slowly. However, that doesn't change all the suck. Especially not suck on a people level. People try to push it from either side. Some try to cut all state sponsored research (where almost ALL knew discoveries within hard science happen). Some try to limit iteration and production of shit already in existence. From all sources, all sides.
Well atleast I've got good news from the company I bought it from, they will send new items, aswell as send a man out from GLS (some post company) to get the damaged wares. So now I can relax a bit more..

However I disagree on the whining part.
Big whine is what makes the big changes, so that something happens. Small whine makes sure we ever get to the big whine. If none would whine, then nothing would go forward.
Well, except the agendas of business and big money. Or just very ruthless people.
I also disagree that the technology would not be ready for it. People tend to act like just tribalistic apes out of the jungle, but technology is ready or very close to it. The advancement of tech is so rapid that we could make a different society work. But it needs leadership, not apathy or "lets just wait" attitude.
We already produce enough food worldwide to feed every person, there is just no will to develop tech that would guarantee that it could be moved. Maybe the tech even exists but the usual outcry is "Costs, money! No profits!" But the tech is not the real issue.
We don't produce enough energy through not earth harmful ways yet to leave it.
And let's face it. Anyone living as we in Scandinavia do won't give it up. Nor will people in North America.
People in Africa, Asia, etc. They want to live like this.
That means MORE energy than we currently use.
Yes, a lot of that could be covered by solar, if we applied it. So yes, it is a question of leadership. But if we can actually get fusion to work, that'd be even better.
It's also a question about people being ready for it. I personally want the EU to become one nation. (On the road to the globe being "one nation"). Most people freak out when I say that.
Same as any sufficiently advanced society will be basically what Karl Marx describes will happen. We're just not there yet.
We can't replace most jobs with machines yet. We're getting there. We'll get there quite soon (in my term of thinking).
I'll also say we have a different view of what "whine" is. For me whine is done on the internet in circles of jerking. Or in a pub over a drink. Neither get shit done.
Big whine is just a lot of people doing it.
For shit to get done you need to be active and do stuff. Not whine about stuff.
I will however agree partly on the food issue. But more that we in the west throw shit out and over consume. A problem when we send things to poor countries is that it tends to wreck their nations. Since, as I said. Most of society isn't ready to abandon our "economy".
I generally think that part of it will look different already in 50 years. Personally I think most jobs in the transportation industry will be gone within that time. For example. Which will force either some form of basic income on us (good thing imo) or well. Massive upheaval and feudalism.
I don't have a "let's just wait" attitude. I have a "Let's work and make it better" attitude. And hopefully my kids, or grand-kids, will get a better deal. Unless my parents, grandparents, and my generation screws it up for them.
But for that our current (rather sucky I'd agree) status quo is most likely still needed.

Yes I think we have a different opinion of whine.
Anything that demands something to change while the people in power don't want it..is whine. And even internet and pub whine is important. Revolutions, discontent and wish to change start small.
All we'd need is few persons who hear this whine, agree with the whine and then inspire others to take up arms, so to say.
And the fact is that in the future, for us all have the same quality of living some things need to change. Like the consumerism that just wants more, more and more. The banking systems, stock markets and the systems that live on the excess and constant devouring of more resources.
And those systems are ruled by people with no fear of consequences nor feel for responsibility.

If anyone has the time 20mins or so. I recommend this charming documentary. Its how larping saved a guy's life, managing his autism, and the usual angst of growing up. It follows a group of larpers and such with focus on the main guy. it's very sweet and interesting.

I did not know what to think when I heard that, TotalBiscuit is the reason I even started to look at youtube and he defiantly increased my already great interest in games.
There are some outliners in the statistic life expectancy that lives with that cancer up to 10 years, it's possible he is one of those.

As for the Alien Superstructures.
It is a possibility they're considering, not much more. They're going to be aiming a listening dish in that direction to look closer at it (January or so was the earliest they could I believe)
They can't exactly see, but they have something that irregularly covers up to 22% of the sunlight, which is massive, a planet of jupiters size would cover around 1% and that's a big planet to begin with. There are other theories, like a massive cluster of comets passing through.
The star is 1500 light years away, even if we sent them a message now asking what's going on. For them it'd have been 3000 years after what we see (1500 years for the light to reach us, and another 1500 for a light speed message reaching there)
Imagine if we got a message tomorrow going "Yo dudes, what were you up to 3000 years ago with that building thing?" Would we even be able to answer, I mean... 3000 years is a long time.
Hell, if we sent a message we might not even remember that we sent it in 1500 years, much less 3000 for a reply to get here.
Of course, they might have devices for FTL coms... But even so we don't have that, or recievers for that. So still 1500 years for our message to reach them.
I guess what I want to say is that even if there ARE aliens there building something awesome. Communication is going to be practically impossible, not to mention a face to face meeting.
It's still massive if it turns out to be right, but all in all it's just a possibility they're willing to consider, there's no evidence either way.

I had no one when I started LARPing as well. ;) But, from the moment I stepped onto the terrain people came to ask me who I were, gave me hugs, pulled me into the game from the start. Second hand stores. And make stuff by hand. ;) Most my costumes are made by hand (I've not touched my seweng machine for about 2 years now) and combined with second hand store clothes. They sometimes really have some awesome stuff there, also of leather and nice fabrics for cheap.

Size of memory for a computer is not an issue, we can already make computers with bigger capacity than human brains.
But emotions, wishes, wants and alike are not just synapse activity, that activity is dictated by the function of your body. You have your subconscious, instincts born out of unthinking actions. Desires woken by how your body functions.
That will be a hard nut to crack, very possibly not possible with just programs, might need the synthetic body to have some equivalents of biological functions.
I suggest reading the book: Do Androids dream of electric sheep? by Philip k Dick. Amazing read all about emotions and what they're with androids and what it is to be alive.You know all that good sci fi stuff. It formed the basis for the film Blade Runner.

I'd believe it to be fair, but quite a lot of things are carcinogens so meh. Their stance on transgender people isn't exactly wrong either, so I don't know why that would be a reason not to trust them.
To take their announcement with a grain of salt doesn't mean I won't believe everything they say. Just that I am not jumping on the walls when they say something. Just like you wouldn't believe a doctor on everything after you know he's in favor of eugenics.

There's also the question of how much of the carcinogenics that get taken up by systems they affect. Smoke goes into the lungs -> straight to the blood -> Everywhere.

Well, the most dangerous type radiation to humans is also the radiation that can be stopped by our skin if in a concentrated beam. So carcinogenics are weird. And yeah, I'm doubtful about amounts needed for burnt pork to be dangerous. (Not like high dosage of meat is that healthy in the first place but still). (Keyword in prev statement is "high").
But yeah. Alpha particle radiation = most harmful type. And most people who don't study radiation go "WHAT!?" since it can be stopped by skin. Or well, the people who know there are three types (actually four) of nuclear radiation (since there are other types) are.
As for two words for the same thing. Well, different reasons for different things. In the specific case for the sun. Just history. Sun and Stars used to be different objects. Then the sun just became the name for the star of our solar system (Or Sol in more official non English contexts in the western world).

So yesterday my university's gaming society had the Oculus Rift at their weekly event, I got to try it out.
It was absolutely amazing. They gave everyone a try of the Unreal 4 Rollercoaster sim one, which was very good, though a bit blurry when you looked to the side (though it may have been the PC).
The other game I got to try out was SpaceEngine, in where you fly around space and shoot stuff. The VR lets you look around the cockpit as you play with the controller. I gotta say, I really want to buy one when the full one comes out next year. It's fantastic.
Am still stuck in Ark myself...which has a halloween event!
I would love to play ARK again. But my computer can barely handle it on the lowest graphics possible. So meh >_>

Also I got discouraged by the resets on the official server, now am sorta playing from time to time on singplayer :D

There were some good things out of Episode I-III
Mainly, scenery, light saber battles and Mace Windu
For the most part I didn't like the lightsaber battles in the prequels. Too messy and undetailed.

In all honesty, the abismal acting of Mark Hamil (Luke) and Hayden Christensen (Anakin) rubbed me the wrong way in the Star Wars series. I personally prefer episodes 1 through 3 for the slickness of the special effects and the general flow of the movies. and I like lightsabers...

True, but getting lost in a path means you don't even think of something else which means you don't really mind the path. So...making bread becomes your life. If the personality is making bread, what would make most sense than making bread?

What is so confusing about black holes?
They are just singularities in space of immense gravity forming a small point where it collapse on it's own gravitational power and slowly decay in size by Hawking radiation.
Quantum mechanics however, that is the fun part. If you were to push against a stone wall, if would take about the entire lifespan of the Universe for you to 'phase' through the wall, at the Quantum level, it happens all the bloody time.
Rule #1 about quantum mechanics. Don't expect to understand them. Just learn what seems to work.
Rule #2 about QM. It's weird as fuck.
Rule #3 about QM. It might be more "real" than our reality.

Take your pick if you want to get hyped for the end of the world. Millions of people have preceded you in expecting it to happen in a particular time. And the above doesn't even list all of them. People always like to think their own particular time and age will somehow be more relevant than the other, however. They like to think themselves relevant like that.

Thats true Koz, but most of the world endings have been religiously motivated and made up by people using logic, with incomplete knowledge.
Not that science is always right either, and many things are predicted. But if they got data behind it, its atleast more likely.
I had a feeling someone would bring up the religion argument into this, considering how easy it is to bash on those. However, bear in mind religion has been to people what science is to us now, for well over millennia. It can hold just as many truths, or falsifications, as science still does in present day. You certainly can't say science or even reason has been right about everything thus far, bearing in mind how many times people have changed their minds about environmental consequences or the impact of certain industries (or how some media choose to remain blind to some of the worst offenders for that matter). Or heck, even Einstein on quantum physics.
Anyway, the point was that everything thinks they're the final generation, but something tells me we needn't worry all that much that we'll be any more special than our previous generation (which was far closer to an all-out nuclear war than we'll ever be, so I think we should be okay for now).
Oh I disagree with most of your points, but agree that we likely don't have to worry 'bout much but the climate change. That is atleast one subject at which there's loads of evidence that majority of scientific fields agree on. Evidence mounting from more than just climate scientists.

This is the stance I took, and it allowed me to enjoy it all the more. I do it with all book/game adaptations to film. I take it as a standalone thing and im never disappointed that way :)
I liked those movies for what they were. the first one more though. never got around to watching bomplebimp crundlebits Sherlock. everyone seems to like them. I tried reading one of the books a while ago. very hard to get into hasn't aged well like Dickens's etc...
