Indeed, but then there are many people of different opinion and...well.

Leaves on a kinda of a edge there.
And they call me insane? I am the most sane person around!

Sigh. Got an answer today, they said they couldn't see the pictures I had attracted, so had to send a new mail. Hope they can see them now. They also said they could give us new items, so I'm hoping they keep to that statement once they see the pictures. *crosses fingers*

Hope it gets fixed soon, you can take comfort in the fact that this is a problem that has plagued mankind for millena. And at least you didn't have carve your customer complaint on a rock like this poor bastard

Umaua

Deliveries remind me of a case not long ago where some peep had sent his phone to the repair through mail. Packaged it as he was advised and it arrived to the repair in a 90 degree angle....it had gone to the wrong "line" in the post office and got stuck between the roller things that move the post on the long lines.
It was 600 euro phone, the postal office will compensate for 40 euros. And well...they just say the phone was not well enough packaged even if it had two bubblewrap layers, double wrapped in paper and in a small cardboard box.

Ugh. Usually I'd be able to handle it just fine, but my mental state lately haven't been so good, so it's tearing a lot on me.

I can't speak for Finland in that, but in Sweden the postal service has in their terms that anything above a certain value won't be fully compensated in case of damage or loss.  But for a minor fee you can add an insurance for that on your package. I sent my girlfriends phone to Denmark after she forgot it. I think the extra fee was around 3 euro or so.
A 600 euro phone just isn't covered by their insurance.

Oh, surely they got their terms and conditions, which pretty much state that 40 euros is the max compensation on -anything- and they first answer to anything is "Your fault".

Which makes me chuckle at the situations where they muck something up and still blame the package sender :D

Like when our company can prove with documents that a certain bill was given to them to be taken to a customer, they still take no responsibility in it getting lost on the way.

Therak

And there's no add on insurance you can take for especially valuable things?
Think, assess, act.

Umaua

There is, but if I don't remember wrong it has limits to it, as in how much they still will compensate and you'll have to have proof and stuff. And it wasn't a minor fee, that I am sure of.

In Sweden there are tons of different ways to even ship things. Letters and packages.
One the insurance thing Therak mentioned.
Then you can basically pay more and it turns into a business package and you get a code and can track it and everything. Etc. All for FAR cheaper than replacing it.
Otherwise I'd never have sent my laptop of in the mail to package it.

However, if you send something of value without any insurance or such at all and it breaks/get lost/stolen/etc? Yea, you're at fault for not marking the packaging. No matter the reason.

Which is exactly the kind of company ethics that make me have a slightly cynical view on them.

And when business packages get treated with silk gloves no matter what...tells you how you common lowly persons packages are treated.

Money rules and thats the only thing the companies are after.

Therak

Business packages get better treatment because they're willing to pay for that service. If you want the same, you can pay for it too

I see it as this.
The standard letter is a piece of paper that -might- have sentimental value. Or it's a bill for money. But I assume that they are business mail, cost more to send, and have a higher priority since you pay higher for them. Which is a good thing since I as a consumer don't want those to get lost.
(In Sweden I think bills and things around money are just "Priority letter". Which anyone can pay for).

Still, piece of paper. Cheap, lightweight, no big value.
In the former case they can't break and someone's out â,¬1000. If a bill any company worth dealing with will send another bill once or twice (with penalties) before things gets bad. So if it's lost in the mail things can be dealt with.
Same as if it's a regular bill you ought to know it should have arrived by the natural due date and can call and ask about it. -No money lost.

Now, say in your normal letter you have a â,¬100 bill. The post can't know it, so why pay special attention to that letter? Then it falls out of the bag and down the drain when opening a truck. Somehow. Who'd be at fault here?
I'd say whomever sent a â,¬100 bill in the mail.

With packaging, same story. Most small packages (size a cellphone would fit in) are just bigger letters. Maybe some candy. No real value.
People who send thing of value tend to insure their packages (companies and private persons).

As for the business packages. I think in Sweden the name is "priority" or some thing like that. Which gives them a barcode and shit like that and input to a database-etc.
And they can also get broken and dented.

But if I'll send someone a big box filled with candy, or the same sized box with a new computer screen. I know which one I'd pay insurance for.

Sure...so if you are unemployed or poor, screw you, we don't give a damm. Only the people with money have rights to send stuff through the mail and expect it to get there in one piece or get there at all!

And hey, it'd all be fair if they had like different services like

1. Pay little, package delivery a maybe.
2. Pay little more, package delivery a strong possible.
3. Pay much more, package delivery gets there, no guarantee if in one piece.
4. Pay a lot more, package deliver gets there with a guarantee in one piece.
5. Be business and there won't be any problems, whatsover.

But they don't have it. Only regular mail which is PRed as being reliable and jadajada. Then insured business mail that costs much more and is just extra special.

Also yes...I have much dislike to business and business owners.

But as a employed person, watching the comments of business owners here lately...I am not surprised at my reaction! :D

If you don't have any money in our society you're in trouble as it is.
It's not often you need to send something with mail.  If you can afford a 600 euro phone you can afford to send it safely. Otherwise you risk having to pay for a new one.
Mail IS reliable. It's a very low number of packages that break or get lost. Probably in the ballpark of 1 out of 1000 rather then 1%
