Well.

What cosmic rays I am refering to is the one the space people are worried. Can't remember the exact name, but its those rays that only the magnetic field/shield of Earth can block.

Out in space, we have nothing to protect us from those rays, which is why we can't travel far as the exposure would be deadly.

And we'd need a shield against them. Not made out of them. Quite the difference!

And it's generally high energy Gamma-rays with a sparcing of muon, tau, electrons, and other subatomic particles. Generating a strong enough magnetic field would keep (some of) these at bay.

As for shields. High-energy electromagnetic shields would likely work best at repelling shit. (As long as that shit is made out of stuff with electric or magnetic charge).
Would just fry shit inside of it due to electric and magnetic fields being far to silly due to the needed power. =D (Unless what it protects have magnetic and electric shielding to just silly degrees)

No shields we can make are strong enough to block those rays.

Which is why if we can manage to create an electromagnetic field as strong as Earths, around a spaceship. Well, that would able us to travel in space for further distances. But we'd also need to be able to create artificial gravity. Which they can to some degree with spinning rooms for example. As the kind of ship they got in Interstellar would be inconvenient.

I have to say that Ozymandias is one of my favorite villains in comic series.

Mainly because...he's not an idiot. I mean...he seems like a bright star compared to most villains who blabber their plan while doing it.

He is, in that universe, literally the smartest man alive. His brain synapses are so quick he can react fast enough to catch a bullet.

And what Lars said, he isn't a villain, more an Anti-hero.

Define him as you want. But for the main characters of the series/movie he is the foe they are chasing. Eventually anyway.

And the smartest man alive does not mean you won't be sucking at some stuff. Many series have a "smart" villain that gets foiled by his own stupidity. Even if he's supposed to be smarter than whole of humanity put together.
