Alternate Draenor Gul'dan. Since Garrosh went there and disrupted the original line of events, Ner'Zhul probably didn't get a chance to do his business so the Legion went straight to Gul'dan

 The comic is a natural progression to the cinematic release; sure, we don't have the ingame death of Varian but to me, the Lore is more than just what is presented to me ingame. It's every source of media that Blizz throws at me.

What you're saying to me, is you don't want to watch the most up to date episode of Game of Thrones or something because it will "spoil" the story. You can't remain in the dark forever!
