Lost just under 5k gold and all my purple store of unbound items,
nothing else but it's enough.

It's a horrible time, and I assure you. Normally, there is a brightside.

You'll find that hacker used your account to farm an instance, or traffic gold.

Guess what? Blizz cannot look at each item, what they do is mail you any item deleted, sold, resold, traded or mailed.

That means if they grinded say, Tempest Keep. All the money they got from selling the greys, you now get. Along with those greys. To resell.

When I was last hacked, I made a nice insurance payout of -25,000- gold. Now that was an extreme case, but it sure helped out.

I hope you are as lucky as I. The worst part, is sorting your bank again, honestly. I suggest getting a nice virus obliterator and a WoW Account.. thingy! You know that thing that assigns you a one time use number? AUTHENTICATOR! That's the word. I got it, I got it..
