Bah, I only know the answers to two of these. I must be even more stoopid than I thought.

6) Canary islands are named after dogs (as in the latin canis). The birds are named after islands, not the other way round.

10) Black boxes are usually bright orange to make them easy to find. I think I'm right in saying that they are called Black Boxes after their inventor, who's surname was Black.
