Krogon - as a monk?

So as some of you may know, i've been deeply considering the idea of making krogon a monk for some time now. essentially what my decision rests upon is two things... and i need a little help through opinions and thoughts. here are the two main factors.

1) Do i enjoy the monk class

2) does the change make sense IC?

So disregarding the question of if i enjoy monk, because only time and experience will tell that...  the only thing remaining is to look at Krogon as a blademaster, and monk as a class. All in all warrior/rogue matches it well enough as a sword wielding 'martial artist'. The question is, what sets krogon apart enough to go monk?

Well blademasters in general are very spiritual, have a deep connection to the spirits and elements. but is Chi the same? i have some doubts though i'd like it to be.

My thoughts are that as a warrior krogon was very much a 'samurai', as a rogue he's gone more down the road of the dark 'ninja' arts. as a monk? what would that be? ...well...

The Sohei.

The sohei were militant budhist monks in feudal Japan. fascinating chaps, rather deadly and feared to boot. they mainly wielded, or atleast were famous for, the Naginata. a very specialised polearm, of which several polearm models in MoP match up to (and monks can use them).

heres some information on them...   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C5%8Dhei

further more they tended toward wearing face-wraps/masks... and thats easily matched using paticular items. whats more, the old lansestror of the blade polearm i used to use on krogon as a warrior, could be used again as a monk... VER blademaster'ish.

All in all, its the sort of style i would go down, my question is does a krogon thats more about technique rather than crazy speed or shadowy tricks... seem realistic? i need to udnerstand the perception other characters/players have of him. i could still wind walk using my old invis potion macro, but the character would essentially only be changed by how his pvp gear would look (black mask/polearm and the rest is his current set) rather than his IC gear, which wouldnt change... as Sohei still used katana, but we can see.

i know the comparison is odd, and i'm prying into some strange spots of history and culture, but this is what i came up with.

so... opinions please! as i really need them.

I haven't really looked into MoP lore (because, well, it just doesn't interest me),
but to me, it seems very plausible that an orc examining the monk arts starts delving into them himself.
Considering his previous professions, I don't see why he would be unable to become a monk.
The only thing that brings doubt to my mind is his age.

Regorn

Greetings Krogon

I took my time to read up some more lore, and I could not find anything that says Blademaster are very spiritual, I could only find "Very honorable" and Stealthy (apparently popular as body guards, or combat specialist)

The Monk work of Chi is completely alien to Orcs, if they will have anything similar, it would be a Shaman and not a warrior, even if you take the more physical technical spect, the Windwalker path, your basic abilities will still be tied to that Chi stuff, the 5 first abilities you get are: 2 Chi generator, 2 Chi spender and 1 moment ability.

That sounds like you got to IC, cast off all you learned as a blademaster and start from scratch, the combat style is not even the same, (as you can hear on the name), the Blademaster is masters of arms, Monks are masters of Spirit (similar to a Shaman), were a Blademaster seeks honor, a Monk seeks balance.

Sure, it is possible for you to change your path, it's just that you would probably start from the very ground bottom and you probably need to attend a gooooooooooooood amount of lectures from some 900 year old teacher so you can learn what the freck Chi is anyway

Good thing to see as well, while Blademaster is a strikt "Physical" class like Warror, hunter and rogue, a Monk kinda uses magic (again, the term of a Shaman rather then a mage), some abilities generate Chi and some basically "Strike opponent with Chi!". That can't be easy to learn as well, and you need to change weapon, going from a large proud blade to a more agile and quicker smaller weapon (unless you have already done that, no clue (not being online), unless you pick a Pole arm, I don't know what weapons will be recommended to what Monk spec)

I say!
You like it? then get your sorry orc arse to school and learn what that Chi stuff is, your gonna need it (ofc, you gonna need a really good IC excuse why you can't do battle for a while)

I'm not sure if you should really bother putting that much effort into the Chi matter to begin with, if it does end up to be a point of trouble for you. It's just a game mechanic, and in the past, I don't think the "Rage" mechanic was very fitting for Krogon as a blademaster either. You don't necessarily need to be a monk ICly to begin with, if you like to RP it as a normal blademaster archetype to begin with. Though if the monk life does appeal to you, I suppose I can agree with Regorn in regards to letting it be a gradual process, as in a bit of a plot in how Krogon learns this new lifestyle.

As for using a different weapon, I wouldn't say that ought to be a problem. After all, blademasters -are- kind of known as weapon masters, and for their ability to be able to use multiple kind of weapons.

Besides, if the Chi thing doesn't seem befitting to your character or IC fighting style, just refer to it as spiritual-like stuff. It's basically the same if you ask me. Without going into details too much (though I could), you could look at the spirit champion RPG class for that matter.
