This is me testing the shoutbox, because shouting is a great stress relief and it would be a shame if it doesn't work.

Your characters inspiration?

Bamm

((Unsure if this thread was created some place else on the site.))

A lot of our toons now are years and years old. What was the founding inspiration for your character and has it played out the way you wanted?

So anyway to start.

Arkail would be some young Deckard Cain, some parts of Elim Garak from deep space nine and my own running theme though my all my toons of some part of the character being less than useful or broken.A idea for a non combat, yet at same time always in the middle of combat's front lines character.

Unsure if i know were Arkail is going he's perhaps a bit more magicy? than he used to be, might tone that back or build on it. And how he has gotten a perhaps bit more paranoid  than i would have liked. have to see where that goes, crazy dishevelled madman seeing threats everywhere or not just being calm "Oh this guy is crazy,  i should do something"

Revax

There used to be a thread like this somewhere, but a reboot every now and then don't hurt does it?

Hellbrew is based on a drunk me, since I was always heavily into martial arts, having trained karate, capoeira and kickboxing for a long time. The slur of course was inspired by the voice of Sean Connery.

I think I had a few other inspirations when I made up the character in 2011 such as Shun Di from Virtua Fighter. I wanted him to be a seemingly  good hearted but in truth neutrally aligned orc, capable of both good and questionable acts.

Gashuk

Gashuk was inspired by my old Arathorian Blood-Priest, Orthur Thorgint. Who in turn was inspired by your generic evil Wizard, Saruman, Voldemort, you name it. I went for magical power, at the expense of age, physical strength and beauty. Yet as time went on, I realised I didn't fit into the 'evil' archetype particularly well. It felt that for every morally dubious thing I did IC, I had a million ways of justifying the action to those around me IC and before long, they stopped becoming 'excuses' and started becoming the characters genuine philosophies; however dubious/twisted.

Gashuk himself, was always driven by the idea of an Orc doing the wrong thing, for the right reasons. He has the image of Gul'dan at the back of his mind, with the morales of Broxigar. Old, grizzled and all out of bubble-gum.

Kozgugore

We did indeed have a topic similar to this one quite some time ago. May very well have been years by now already though, so I don´t see the harm in a new one!

As for my inspiration for Koz, I had originally intended for him to be a shaman and to follow the Thrall-like and Warcraft III archetype of a noble savage with the age and ideals of the world as the orcs once knew it before all the war and conflict. Sadly (or should I say in hindsight, luckily) the guild that I planned on joining (which was pre-made, before the opening of DB) already had too many shaman so I remade him into a hunter instead. With that, I got the idea of being inspired by one of the characters from Robin Hobb's books, the Farseer Trilogy, which involved the ability to commune with animals and to "meld" with them in a manner of speaking.

Of course I've had a whole lot of different, additional inspirations for him as time went on and he developed throughout the years in his time with the tribe, particularly when he became more of a leader-esque character, but that's the basic principle that I once made him with and that, surprisingly, still holds pretty true to the present day despite the things he's gone through and the things that have changed along the way.

Rashka

I don't actually think anything inspired me to make Rashka, other than I once had a shaman in the guild, way before Rashka even existed, and I remember how awesome I thought everything and everyone was (since it was so different from alliance RP) but I stopped on that character because I in fact was terrified that I wasn't a good enough RP'er for everyone back then. Decided around a year later to transform my panda monk into Rashka, and now there's like 4 different versions of her.

Nosh'marak

A lot of Nosh's inspiration came from Kargath (Obviously!), but as time went on I realized he was changing a lot and was not even near similar to Kargath anymore. He had ups and downs, which led to a very unique and complex character. So shortly answered; He was inspired by Kargath! xD
"Dogs obey and whimper, wolves carve their own path with a roar! Let the Alliance hear your cries for battle! Rrosh'ka Valokh! For the Blood!"

Odelka

Odelka was my second attempt at a roleplayable orc female. My first was a warrior. But she was too agressive and narrowminded to make for easy RP. She was based off of your basic klingon (I am a big fan of Star Trek, your love for Deep Space nine is shared here).
I made Odelka a much less agressive version of the warrior. She also was meant to be my characer for watching RP rather than partaking. So she's become a quiet character. Other than just being a basic klingon, she's just a strong orcish woman who don't need no man.

Azolg

Gul'dan, clearly. Before he descended into madness.

Srelok

I've not even posted here? Wat...
Well, Srelok was talked about in depth during my member spotlight.

Shagula's inspiration was a mix of Red Sonja, Ellen Ripley and about any character played by Micelle Rodriguez. The ultimate warrior woman brimming with confidence and skill to back it up. After the personality was set I looked at the appearance. I wanted something that was not even close to pretty. Just fierce and brutal.
However, by then she was a bit too dark, as I wanted her to be a bit of a counterpoint to Sre's darker moods. So I had another look around the inspiration box, and remembered Adjutant Chiria from the Gaunt's Ghosts novels. She's a fierce looking woman with facial scars (sound familiar?) who's actually a very kind and gentle woman too.

So that's how I created Shags. :)
