How different is it from Minecraft?

It's like a mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

You build things using stones and wood but it's clearly sci-fi inspired. You don't use 'picks' or 'shovels', you use 'power-packs' for your wrist device.

The combat is a bit better and the enemies more interesting.

Instead of a crafting table you just craft what you want on you. 
To acquire some special parts (like sticks) you use stationary machines. 
Instead of mining ore you plant a extractor on the ore block and it gathers it for you.

You could play this game as a warrior for example where in minecraft playing a dedicated warrior is unheard of outside of PvP.
Also, enemies got so much loot stuff.

Think Minecraft but way more smooth. I would recommend this over Minecraft if they keep updating it with more blocks types.

I built my home in a mine. Managed to block a Miru in the door then I tamed it. Made said Miru to wear a tophat. Best day ever.

the freaking Miru just keep spawning in my mine, I have it lit up but the game seems to think a tiny bit of shadow means "complete darkness".

In the World's option, it does say "rescipies carry over" (I took that off) so I think you start with nothing if you join.
