Rimefury

Name: Gurnak Rimefury
Class: Death Knight
Level: 100

Tell us something about your (role)playing experience:
I've been roleplaying for the past 2-3 years, and have fallen in love with the story surrounding Warcraft. Most of my time has been spent on this character, my Death Knight; however I've recently race-changed to the Horde as I grew tired of being a Dwarf. So far I'm loving the Orc I have managed to construct, both in story and appearance!

And finally, please write a short story and/or IC introduction about your character:
Victory or death.
A common phrase heard within the Horde, one which Gurnak took to the grave with him.
However, this orcish shaman wasn't allowed the peace of death, and was pulled from the dirt and crafted into a Death Knight at the command of Arthas Menethil. Months passed, and with the fall of the Lich King, Gurnak Rimefury has finally returned to the Horde, though without the elements he once cherished or the title which defined him.

Edit:
How he died, where and why -- was it fighting the Scourge, for instance?
Gurnak travelled to the Plaguelands due to a vision he received when arriving at Grom'gol Base Camp in the Eastern Kingdoms. The journey was long and incredibly harsh on the old Orc, and before he even saw Light's Hope, he collapsed and succumbed to the land. Shortly before the massacre surrounding the Scarlet Enclave, Gurnak's body was retrieved by the Scourge roaming the Plaguelands, and carried to Acherus.

Where he was born, and what Clan ties he might have, if any. If he is an older orc, he may have been born on Draenor. If he was much younger, he may have been born in the human's internment camps.
Born within the star-touched Shadowmoon Valley, Gurnak was exposed to tradition the moment he opened his eyes, following the path of shamanism throughout his early years.

What sort of personality and beliefs did he have during life, and how did this change upon his undeath?
Gurnak was often considered too optimistic by his friends and family, constantly providing insightful comments and heart-warming gifts. He was always hopeful about the future.

However, after months of enduring the burden of undeath, Gurnak has transformed into a paranoid and dangerous individual. Unable to comprehend past events, he refuses to talk about the past, and will only offer advice when it is demanded.

And finally, it might be an idea to dwell upon what Gurnak might have been up to in the years after Arthas' fall. What, for instance, would his new purpose be now that the Lich King has fallen? And why would he want to join the Red Blade tribe?
With the fall of the Lich King, Gurnak has returned to the Horde with a better understanding of his undeath, and intends to use it as a gift rather than a burden. Since the Cataclysm, he has kept the roads near Light's Hope Chapel clear of ghouls and gargoyles, however the constant state of solitude isn't healthy for his mind; Gurnak yearns for the feeling of companionship in the heat of battle.

Howdy, Rimefury! And thanks for applying. Your application seems decent enough, but there's a couple of points I'd like to address before I can approve it.

Your DK's origin seems fairly standard and fine in terms of him being one of the many-many death knights risen by the Lich King and later breaking free. But could we learn a little more about Gurnak's life before his death? Here's a couple of pointers to help you think of what details might be relevant:
  • How he died, where and why -- was it fighting the Scourge, for instance?
  • Where he was born, and what Clan ties he might have, if any. If he is an older orc, he may have been born on Draenor. If he was much younger, he may have been born in the human's internment camps.
  • What sort of personality and beliefs did he have during life, and how did this change upon his undeath?

And finally, it might be an idea to dwell upon what Gurnak might have been up to in the years after Arthas' fall. What, for instance, would his new purpose be now that the Lich King has fallen? And why would he want to join the Red Blade tribe?

If you can edit your application and supply some of this information, I'm confident I'll have enough to be able to approve your application, assuming things are all fine. Bump this thread when you've done so.

Thanks and best of luck!

Updated!
Thanks for the quick reply, and I apologize if I run into any mistakes within Orcish lore.

Howdy, Rimefury! Thanks for updating your application. It gives us a much better insight now into the kind of orc Gurnak was and is currently. I can't see any issue with the timeline or lore details, so consider this application approved!

Simply poke an officer or senior member to grab your in-character interview, so we can give Gurnak an opportunity to introduce himself to our merry band of orcs! A list of appropriate members is here: http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=2440.0

Since you're on Argent Dawn, you can either wait the remaining six days until we transfer to get your interview, or you can supply us with your Battletag and work out an appropriate time to grab some cross-realm RP and do your interview that way. If you choose the latter option, you won't be able to get the OOC guild invite until we're on AD, but you can ICly join the tribe and join us for any casual RP or events we may have until then.

Let us know which you would prefer!

Rimefury

Thank you!

My Battletag is RossGiles#1134, and I should be online throughout tommorow. Some casual RP does sound pretty good, although I wouldn't want to intrude on any events you might already have planned.

Looking forward to meeting the Orcs of the Red Blade!

Interviewed and accepted by myself! For the Blood of the Tribe!
