Gorthak

Name: Gorthak Bloodroar
Class: Warrior
Level: 90

Tell us something about your (role)playing experience:
I didn’t become a regular part of the Defias Brotherhood RP scene until TBC, having only RPed on a low level alt (my high level chars were on Twisting Nether, as I used to raid back then) occasionally. However, when my guild disbanded around the time we started to progress into tier 5 content, I transferred over to Defias and joined Nature’s Grasp on my druid, Ixirar. I stayed in Nature’s Grasp (with some breaks of inactivity in WLK) until early Cataclysm, where differences between me and parts of the leadership led to my departure from their guild roster. Since then, I’ve been a part of many guilds around the main alliance population in and around Stormwind, primarily the Forlorn Cartel, in which I was an officer for a while until leaving the guild a few months back for personal reasons. Since then, I’ve been a part of the Band of the Brave, but have recently decided to move to the horde side of the faction barrier, and now I’m applying to this guild.

And finally, please write a short story and/or IC introduction about your character:
Gor’thak Bloodroar belonged to the Blood Tooth Clan(made it up for the purpose of Gor’thak’s story), characterized by their tradition for carving out the heart of worthy enemies. In a symbolic gesture to pay respect to their foe, they consume the heart and absorb the strength of the fallen, letting their strength live on through the orc that killed them.

By the time Gor’thak came of age, he had already proven himself among his peers as a fierce warrior, and expectations for this young orc were high. Among his clansmen, he was characterized by the terror-inducing roar he would let bellow from his chest as the blood of his fallen enemies dripped from his teeth. Some say that the knights slain by Gor’thak were impossible to raise by the necromancers, as the prospect of meeting Gor’thak a second time induced terror in the humans that would last even in the afterlife.

As the first war raged on, Gor’thak was the prime candidate to replace the aging chieftain, a title that he intended to seize when next he returned to Draenor. His plans were delayed when Doomhammer called for the Horde to press north towards Lordaeron. Unfazed, Gor’thak followed the warchief’s command, confident that Lordaeron would bring plenty of glory to pride his name.

However, the second war would not play out as Gor’thak had expected. In a fierce battle somewhere in Lordaeron, Gor’thak would end up separated from his comrades. Determined to survive, he would hide in the wilderness with the few survivors of the battle, among them Krenga Raveneye, who would grow to become his bloodsister.

For many years hereafter, Gor’thak and his band of survivors would remain hidden in the forests of Lordaeron, appearing only to strike merchants and farmers to steal their food and supplies, until Gor’thak one day caught wind of a young orc rallying the horde once more, breaking the internment camps to reassemble The Horde. Gor’thak hurried to reunite with his people, but was devastated to learn that in his absence, the Blood Tooth Clan had succumbed to infighting between candidates who saw their shot to claim Gor’thak’s rightful title of Chieftain for themselves. The few orcs of the clan who hadn’t been killed in the wars or internment camps had died in these violent conflicts, leaving only the sad remains of a once proud clan. Gor’thak declared that his clan was no more, and pledged his loyalty to Thrall, the new Warchief. Now once more a mere grunt, ripped of the status that he had as the future chieftain of the Blood Tooth Clan.
