Cold fear

Winterspring, is generally a calm and serene place, and would have been so today, if not a certain female orc who seems to be completely uncapable of ever being in time anywhere and who always gets herself in trouble no matter what she says, does or thinks, would have rapidly sped trough the snowy landscape on her black wolf, Míra.
Usually, sprinting (or having her wolf sprint for her) as fast as possible meant that Khá was in trouble, but alas, fate had for once decided to smile at her green little grumpy face, as today her hurry was of a completely different origin.
"Come ON Míra! We have to deliver this message right now or a will receive a verbal excecusion from the officers." She exclaimed and smacked the wolf on the back lightly. The response was a snarl which either meant "im hungry" or "well, let's see YOU trying to run in snow one foot deep. Possibly both.
The message was from Everlook and was to be delivered to Timbermaw hold at her earliest convenience, which knowing some officers meant now. Heck, for some,  now meant yesterday. She was mildly curious of the contents of the letter, but dared not open it. If she did that, she feared the execution would be more than verbal. She smiled grimply to herself. Oh great, now she started doing gallow humor. She closed her eyes and let the wolf lead the way to the clans whereabouts, pulling her fur-lined cloak tighter around her. Not that she could help Míra with anything really. A slow curtain of snow was clamly decending on the landscape, enveloping it into a fuzzy cloud of soft whiteness, blinding her. The only thing leading them was Míras sense of smell as she picked up the scent of other wolves.
"You dont even know how much i envy your fur, Míra. Oh hell, why couldn't we stay in Stranglethorn? At least there i could feel my toes....." The wolf paid her no attention, but she liked talking to the furry black beast. It gave her comfort.
For a moment the only thing that broke the silence was the slow steady thumping as Míra deliberately picked her way trough the drifts of snow, and the occasionall rumble as a branch would give in to the weight of the snow and let it all slide down in heaps.
The wind started moaning slowly, and picked up the pace. Khá opened one golden eye cautiously and peered around her, but saw nothing else out of the ordinary, altough her heart sank a little at the quickening wind. Of course it would soon escalate into a full fledged blizzard, and she started looking for possible shelter.
Though the road from Everlook to Timbermaw was relatively short, the geography and weather of this place sure made it seem longer. She sighed, and thought of warmer lands as the slow tedious journey continued.

If snow would have feelings, Khá would have punched it repeatedly as hard as she could right now, because there was no denying they werent getting any further tonight, only because of that darn snow. An hour later She and Míra where hiding under a particularly sturdy looking tree and had made some sort of shelter, and a merry campfire was crackling in front of them, but even that couldnt thaw out the gnawing feeling of failiure she had in her gut. Late. Again. She sniffled and then sneezed, and leant against Míras warm fur. She was tired, stuck, in a bad mood and probably with a cold, she she didnt really give a feck if she would get scolded for reading the letter, so she deliberately opened the envelope and looked inside.
She pulled out a piece of dried beef and gnawed on it thougtfully as she quickly skimmed trough the rows of letters, but it almost stuck in her throat when she saw why she was here.
"WHAT!?" She shouted , and Míra got up with a startled yelp and looked at her with an air of dissatisfaction. "what you'd do that for?", her eyes seemed to say.
"I was sent on this cold road of peril just to send them a list of provisions needed, that's why!" Khá snarled, but then she looked down and slumped into a dissapointed heap. "Im sorry", she said to the wolf and beckoned it to come closer. Míra sat next to her and let her scratch her behind the ear. "It's not your fault, it was just..Hell, i know provisions are important but im just such and ignorant brat i thought they'd hand me some bigger-than-life important message. Im a newblood, what was i thinking!?, they barely let New bloods do anything! Should be glad i even got this..." Míra licked her nose and then laid her head in Khás lap, tired.
Khá was about to continue her complaints, but realised that Míra was in the same mess as she was, and she didnt care, so why should Khá? Khá smiled and patted the beast affectionately on the head. "You´re a smart wolf, ye knew that?" She whispered
The wolf let out a long, satisfied breath an response, and started sleeping. The Khá just put out the fire and drew her cloak over both of them, and before long, both where dreaming, sleeping soundly next to each other.

Khá woke up to Míra nudging her shoulder and whining quitely. She moaned and propped herslef up on her elbows and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
"What is it?" She whispered groggily.
Míra turned around and kicked a small cloud of snow up in her face as she turned around scuttled up the little slope the snow had formed around the tree. Khá estimated the snow. Bloody Hell! Must have fallen at least feet of the white stuff during the night.
Míra turned around and looked at her scoldingly for just gawking there, so Khá just grabbed her hunting knife and crept upward. Soon, accompanied by heavy sniffling due to the cold she had managed to cath, Khá's nose appeared over the rim of the mound of snow, and she scanned her surroundings. She couldnt see anyth- Oh.
An undead knight was sitting stout on his ivory steed, the skelteal beast snorting plumes of hot, sickly-green looking mist. The horse stamped on the snow impatiently and threw with its head, shrieking loudly. The sound rolled over the white hills like a knife to the ears.
The rider, who had a black longbow on his back turned his hood and looked at the beast and hissed.
"Quiet!" He wheezed, but his sound was unnaturally hollow, cold, inhuman.
The rider turned his head and the sunlight fell into his dark hood, revealing the face of an undead. The skin was blistered and rotting, slouching off the bones, and blackened. A pair of blue shining eyes sat deep in his skull, and they peered the landscape for any movement.
"I'll be damned if you attracted some attention with that hellish sound. Well, damned again."
The rider chuckled slightly, a sound completely lacking the mirth of a normal laugh, even that of a normal forsaken.
The eyes, the voice, the...Everything. She knew this must be a death knight, well, of some sort.
But what was one doing in Winterspring!? Surely it couldnt mistake this for Icecrown? No. She shook her head and slid down the slope, quitely. This must have been one of the scourges creatures that was released after the lich kings death, but instead of joining sides with the horde, the alliance or the rest of the free scourge, it got drunk with freedom and refused any sort of containment, seeking refuge at no one and spreading death and destruction just because it could, seeking no purpose.
Khá slid down the last bit of the slope and stopped with a light thud. She was already trying to make a plan for escape, when her body betrayed her. She felt the convulsion on her stomach and frowned.
Dont you dare!- she thought.
A-CHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Before her head virtually imploding after being overloaded with just one thought:"imgonnadieimgonnadieimgonnadieimgonna...."
, she took a moment, to just look down at her nose, frowning, and whispering, "SERIOUSLY?"Then she heard cold laughter behind her.
"Whaaaaat...?" The sound of the rider echoed. "What do we have here?" His voice was overly sweet as she couuld hear the horse slowly canter towards the tree. "Before i continue the lich kings work, i will have to kill everyone here, and what better way to start than killing, a little, hiding, cowa-"
Khá lunged over hte slope and screamed, and the snow exploded into the riders face.
"Arghlblrgl?!" was the only thing he managed to say when his mouth filled with snow and Khá bolted and jumped onto Míra.
"Continue the lich kings work? News flash, hes DEAD, ye delusional piece of shi-"
An arrow zipped right by her face, and she got quiet. Good going Khá. Talk to a man who's got a bow just to be SURE he knows absolutely where you're going despite just gaining the advantage of blinding him. He just might be good at a thing called AIMING. "woops" She said and gulped.
A few more arrows zipped by and she felt a weird Déjà-vu sensation at being chased at with arrows. Stranglethorn?
She managed to zig-zag between the trees and avoid more arrows, but it seemed the undead mans steed didnt sink into the snow, so he gained on her rapidly.
Suddenly, Timbermaw hold was visible over the hill.Yes, she was almost there!
Suddenly Míra cried out in pian and stumbled as an arrow hit her flank. Khá landed heavily in the now but bounced up immediately and ran at Míra."MÍRA!" She creamed.
"Not.One. Step." The cold voice announced.
He entered the clearing and was aiming at her face, an arrow at the ready.
Míra whined quitely and licked her wounds. Khá was strained to the utmost to resist the urge to run to her and tend to the wounds, but she knew Míra would take a shot. She could defent herself, it was the wolf she was worried about.
"Why are you here?" She sighed. Good, take the diplomatic approach.
He looked at her, amused. "To continue the litch kings work, as i said! May the scourge prevail!"
"The litch kings dea-"
"DONT YOU DARE SAY THAT!!!!!" He screamed and sent the arrow flying, she threw up a wall of earth, but his rage sent the arrow skittering far from her.
Okay. She decided to be very, VERY quiet.
"We are talking about lich king Arthas, right?" She said and cocked an eyebrow.
"Of COURSE we're walking bout Arhtas" He sighed like she was stupid. "Who else? Winterspring will be the first of his conquers in Kalimdor!"
She gulped, completely delsuinal and crazy, but crazy people where often the most dangerous ones.
Suddenly she realised he hadnt drawn another arrow, and she had no way to call for help, Míra was wounded and speaking sense to him only made him blood-thirsty. She simply had to kill him to get away, and now was probably the best shot she had at it.
She screamed and lunged at him taking him by surprise. She drew her dagger mid-air and aimed for his face, but he threw himself off the sadle and landed lightly in the snow. She fell heavily on the back of the skeleton horse, who started jumping and kicking around in panic. She slid off just as an arrow whizzed past her head, and lunged again. This time the undead was better prepared, though, and had an arrow aimed at her face. She flicked her hand, and a stone the size of a fist shot up from the ground and sent the bow skittering away.
"Why you little-!!!!" He said and drew his hunting daggers.
She rolled over as he slashed the daggers at her face, and slid between his legs. she grabbed his cape from behind and swung herself up on his back. He jabbed at her frantically with his daggers, but she grabbed one of his hands and twisted it untill he roared in pain and dropped it. the other one missed, but pulling his hand back the hilt of the blade connected hardly with the back of her head, and she fell off. He jumped at her, but she threw a spout of flames at his face and rolled.
"G-AH!!!" He screamed and slashed wildly around him, blinded. She smiled to herself. She could keep this up.
The undead roared at her and suddenly a blizzrd rolled over her, freezing her to the bones, pushing her to the ground.
"Wha-?"
The undead reagined his vision and charged at her bringing his knife har down at her. SHe tried rolling away, but the blade hit her shoulder and embedded itself all the way to the hilt.
The world exploded, stars danced before her eyes. She roared with pain, pain unlike anything she had ever felt before. The pain, the rage, the despair, it all became too much. Her emotions errupted from her body in a vortex of flames so violent the skin ripped of her assualters body, sending it flying awaya like butterflies made of ash. The blue light slowly dimmed from his eyes, cloudy, still frowining as if he didnt understand what had just happened. But she was dying too.
She could feel the cold spreading trough her body, emanating from the blade, like a sickness draining the life from her, freezing her no matter how much fire she sent at it. She swallowed, cried, and propped herself up to her elbow. Why.....was death..so....Cold. She found the undeads hunting horn, and blew it. The sound was dark and foreboding rolling over the surrioundings, more like a harbringer of doom than like a plead for help, but at the end, her voice broke, and she dropped it. She dragged herself over the burnt clearing to Míra, and put her head against the feverishly hot fur of the beast. She blinked away the tears, sure she was going to die, and hugged the wolf ferociously, her last hope, her last friend, her last anchor to the living world. She then buried her face in the fur, and whispered to the wolf, one last, final word:
"Goodbye"
As orcs rode down the hill on their wolves, pointing at her shouting, oblivious to them she could only think:
Why am i so weak?

Sorry for the long text, and the slightly weird story, and this does not necessarily have to have happened IC, but i felt like writing something orcish, something emotinal, something melodramatic. It's sort of the ponit where her fears and insecurities fall upon her all at once, and when she survives, cuz DUH she has to survive, she'll be stronger, carrying the knowledge she can survive anything the world puts at her. But anyways, enjoy!

Revax

((You're good at writing, Ill give you that. I wouldnt mind if this happen ICly, Rev could even be one of those who found her :) ))

That would actually be pretty nice :DD Maybe an event could be created after that...? (wink wink, officers :3), altough then the undead-crazy death knight thing would have to be explained, which wouldnt be entirely impssible, and maybe sorta interesting, but probably quite far-fetched, and the story would have to unfold pretty far to explain it :/ I mean, id like it (Of COURSE id like it, id be the center of attention :DD) But considering im a new blood having such a semi large scale would be pretty unlikely, but sortof awesome :3
