Rhonya

Rhonya sat straight up, gasping for breath, cold sweat covering her. She was trembling all over, her eyes wide and for a moment she didn’t know where she was and what was going on. She reached to the spot beside her, but it was empty. Then reality hit her like a thundershock and she remembered Therak wasn’t there. She couldn’t reach him.

Inhaling deeply she tried to calm herself, calm her body. She washed her face with some water from her waterskin, the droplets wetting the skins she slept in slightly, falling down on the furs and dripping from her chin. She closed her eyes with a deep sigh, flashes of the vision appearing in front of her again. She didn’t have much visions, but this had been a very clear one.

“Prove the Chieftain wrong... You are not useless... Tap into your powers and show him your true strength...''

''Steelheart... You know how to be usefull... come... come! JOIN ME!''

The words echoed through her mind and she pulled up her knees, leaning her head inside the palms of her hands. The voice had been right… The Chieftain hadn’t said it directly like that, but he had basically called both herself and Shargla useless, not being able to carry their weight and that they only caused trouble. His words had hurt her. She had thought that she had earned at least some of his respect, shown him that she could do something. But the last few weeks she had felt rather useless indeed, various reasons making it almost impossible for her to heal anyone, or to call on the spirits for their aid, because they didn’t listen.

Rhonya sighed softly as she sat there quietly, thoughts racing through her mind, confusing her and making her even more tired than she already was. She knew who the voice belonged to. She knew she shouldn’t listen. But there was truth in those words, she would be more useful and stronger..

No!

With a sharp shake of her head she banned those thoughts out of her mind. It was wrong, she’d sworn those ways off, she would never return to them. With a low snort Rhonya lowered herself in her furs again, pulling them high up to her chin, hiding herself a little. What should she do…? It was all so confusing…
"For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."
