Quitting WoW

When I wanted to type orcsoftheredblade for the site's address just now, I absent-mindedly started writing 'brothersofthre-'.

Oddly enough, that's almost exactly what you guys are like to me: brothers and sisters. Since the day I joined two years ago, and especially for this last stride, OoRB has been by far the best guild I've ever been in. For years since I started playing WoW I've jumped from guild to guild, server to server looking for a proper RP venue, only to be barraged by exclusive RP communities, lack of initiative, inconsistency of roleplay, failRP and absence of plotlines.

That is, until I found DFB, and subsequently, OoRB. The guild has provided me with a wonderful oppertunity to explore a true roleplaying experience with actual character development and interactions, and storyline development across a multitude of venues, the likes of which I'd been searching for for years. More importantly, however, the degree of just...open heartedness and friendship I've found in this guild was flabbergasting. It's by far the realm on which I've most felt home, thanks to all of you, in-game and out. I can only hope that I've made even a few of you just slightly as happy as you've made me.

On that note, however, I'm saddened to say that I will be quitting WoW. A little abrupt but it's the decision I've chosen to make. The game has, and always will, in my opinion, leave no room for anything else for a person like me. I'm a university student with a lot of ambitions that I've often left unrealized saying that there's always time. But life doesn't last forever, and neither does time (literally...big crunch etc). I've always been the type of person to give one thing 100% and not the rest, so balance has always been hard. That said, it's been WoW for far too long. I honestly think that taking the initiative to accomplish a lot of the things I want to do with my life means sacrificng a lot of who I am now to become I wish to be; one of those things is WoW, sadly.

A lot of the time I used to think the flaw was the addictiveness of the game, until recently, and in many ways it is. A friend of mine once told me though "It's not the game, man. The game is AMAZING, magical even. Don't blame the game. Blame yourself". And it's true, WoW itself isn't bad, it really is beyond fantastic, and I've had plenty of fun over the past four years, but I can finally say that my time here has come. I've done everything I ever aspired to in the game: reach a state of developed, consistent and amazing RP, PvP my ass off and pwn, and reach high-end progression raiding, which I've done on both my mains (most of which on Orgash, actually). Needless to say there's more I wish I could have done, but that's literally always the case. Its gotta stop sometime.

With that, I bid you all adieu. May your adventures, both old and new, flourish, and may you find prosperity on and off the screen. Take care everyone, and thank you all for a wonderful time.
