Krohgnar

Name: Krohgnar Talonfist
Class: Monk
Level: 10

Tell us something about your (role)playing experience:
I started roleplaying when I was 10 on a Half-Life 2 Roleplay server on Garry's Mod (I am now 18). I played on that for about five years, I worked my way up the community and became an admin. It was a quite serious server and we had some good times on there along with a lot of serious and chilled out roleplay. From the age of about 14 I've been an avid player of D&D and still play regularly now with a group of friends; I'm usually the DM, so I roleplay a range of NPCs around the world, but sometimes I do play as a character and develop them as well. Personally I would say I can be a quite good and serious roleplayer, but I don't want to sound like I'm ringing my own bell too much : P. I'm also an avid poster on a Game of Thrones roleplaying website where I own the character of Bronn.
I started playing WoW at the age of 14 too, and have three level one hundred characters - I've only really dabbled in WoWRP a little bit, so I'm kinda noobish at it, but I've been meaning to try it for a while and believe my knowledge on the lore will help me quite a bit. I also main orcs mostly, so I'm quite knowledgeable on them.

And finally, please write a short story and/or IC introduction about your character:
Krohgnar was born in Frostfire Ridge, to his two parents Rizzek Talonfist and Jaga Spiritheart; his father (Rizzek) was a natural hunter, and helped to provide food for the clan. Rizzek trained Krohgnar in the ways of hunting, teaching him to always respect the animal he is hunting and to never kill purely just for sport. His father gained the name 'Talonfist' due to his affinity with eagles, even keeping one as a pet named Blood-Beak, and so would pass on the name to Kroghnar. His mother (Jaga) was a tanner, helping to make leather armours and outfit the clans warriors, she gained her name from her great-grandfather, who was a well respected shaman.

Krohgnar was only 15 when he was forced out of his home and into the Alterac Mountains, but during this time he had made friends with a female orc named Ki'Kig, and they together trained to become fearsome warriors, looking forwards to eventually being able to join the Frostwolf guard. Their relationship grew, and when Krohgnar was 16 he promised her that they would join one day and have children - she accepted his offer. Three days after Krohgnar's 18th birthday, his father was killed in a hunting accident; he had taken a close hunting friend along with him on his hunt, and they had gotten into a fight with mountain bears. They both died, but were found with the dead bear later that day, the bear had his father's hunting axe embedded into its skull, while his father had bled out from a deep gash in his abdomen.

Not long after the First War started, and the Frostwolf clan chose to remain in hiding, their leader Durotan left to warn Orgrim Doomhammer of Gul'dan's treachery. They were put under a new leader, Drek'Thar, and during their two decades in hiding Krohgnar worked to become one of his guardsmen. Krohgnar would deal with unruly orcs who had too much to drink, and sometimes had to protect the clan from invading beasts. After their first decade of being together, Krohgnar and Ki'Kig joined together and had two children; their first child was a boy, named Rizzek after his father - their second was a girl, named Gara. They were born four years apart, Rizzek being the oldest. When Rizzek was 8, Krohgnar began to teach him how to properly hunt. Rizzek was a very unruly child, always causing trouble with his sister or other children. He would even sometimes get in trouble with some of the Frostwolf guards, always shouting names at them and throwing them childish insults.

Krohgnar began to teach him responsibility and honour - telling him to own up to his actions and to always respect nature as if they didn't have it, they wouldn't be what they were today. He taught him that to disgrace nature would be disgracing what their ancestors built for them, and that would be a mockery of their whole lifestyle. To teach him responsibility he gifted him his father's eagle, who was now getting old on the age of his thirties, and said that if he could take care of an ageing eagle, he would teach him the ways of fighting, just like his father taught him. Three weeks later, Krohgnar found his son face down in his bedroom, with a dead eagle beside him. He worked out that his son had been too rough with the eagle, and it had clawed into his face, in his defence he must have snapped its neck. Krohgnar checked his son to find him dead... He carried him through the streets and knelt with him at the door of a respected shaman's hut, pleading with him to send his son to the ancestral plains where his father was. He was buried two hours later.

At the age of 40, Krohgnar retired from the guard, and with the migration of orcs decided along with Ki'Kig that they would live the rest of their lives in the wilds, living off nature and being nomadic, staying at multiple people's homes who would put them up for the night, and travelling Azeroth. For six years they travelled, learning of other races and cultures around the continent - but one night they were captured... A small troll clan named the 'Crazy Eye Clan' took them prisoners and shackled them up in different cages. Ki'Kig was the first to be taken away, and Krohgnar yelled and pulled at his shackles all through the night to try and break his way out; he eventually put out his voice and lost his energy. The next night they took his daughter, and he did nothing but stare at the jailer as they dragged her away. The next night they came for him, when he was unshackled he wrestled away from the three men holding him and lunged at the jailor, with his hands still chained together he managed to smash his skull in before they could wrestle him off - he bit a chunk out of one of their necks, and stared down the other two, they ran out of the tent for help. When Krohgnar emerged from the tent, it was night time. He ran through the camp looking for his family, but he found something else. A camp-fire with a roasting orc leg over it. He knew his family were dead.

He escaped from the camp and into the woods. For the first three days he tried to break the shackles on a rock, but they were tremendously tough. He survived by eating berries from bushes, not being able to move his hands. On the fourth day he came across another person, but this one was a Pandaren man. He was weary at first towards this strange man, who he had never seen anyone of his like before, but ended up telling him about his journeys. The Pandaren's name was Lung Chow, and he explained that he had travelled here from the far away lands of Pandaria. When Krohgnar asked for help with the shackles, Lung Chow broke them in half with a swift whack of his staff. Krohgnar inquired on how he did it, and discovered that it was due to the power of Ki, and ancient fighting technique. He pressed Lung Chow to teach him of its ways, and he eventually agreed. For a year the two trained, and became good friends. Krohgnar, at the age of 47, was now a novice monk. When it came time to part ways, Lung Chow told him of a clan base not too far from them that he could travel to. They shook hands and went their separate ways. A now aged and newly taught Krohgnar stumbled his way into the base of The Orcs of the Red Blade, and asked them about joining...

Sorry for going a bit overboard with the story, but I thought I'd write out the whole thing. I kinda like writing : P

Howdy, Krohgnar! Thanks for applying.

Your application is very good and quite detailed, which obviously bodes well. Your character has had a lifetime of experiences, and towards the end, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. Poor feller! With that said, all the lore details and timeline stuff seem fine to me, and there's nothing that sticks out as being worthy of amendment or further questioning.

So consider this application approved! Simply contact an officer or senior member in-game to grab your in-character interview, so we can give Krohgnar an opportunity to seek us out and introduce himself to our merry band of orcs!

Addendum:

I did a quick Armory search and saw that your Krohgnar character is on Defias Brotherhood. If you aren't yet aware (it is plastered over the website), Orcs of the Red Blade are moving to the Argent Dawn RP server on 9/6/15. Since your character is still quite low-level, it might be an idea to reroll him on AD and save yourself a transfer fee. As we've done with other AD applicants so far, we can give you an in-character interview and cross-realm RP on demand via Battletag up to our migration date, then give you the OOC g-invite on 6/9/15.

If for whatever reason, you wish to stay on Defias in spite of OotRB migrating, I'd recommend the following two RP guilds -- they are both multiracial warband guilds who accept orcs in addition to all other Horde races. Either would probably be glad to see your application:
- Shatterskull Marauders
- Blood Wolf Clan

Do let me know if you'd like to go ahead with your application or not in light of our upcoming realm transfer. If you do decide to continue pursuing OotRB, we'll be very happy to have you.

I'll re-roll the character on Argent Dawn, I just made him on that server so I could contact an admin in game. I'd love to stick with the community! Just a quick question though, should I continue RPing as him on Defias Brotherhood until you switch servers? Because I can easily level him up on Argent Dawn whilst I do the little bits of RP on Defias until then.

You're a cleverer man than me, actually! If you're content to keep Krohgnar at a low-level while you level up the AD version, you could have your cake and eat it too by getting your g-invite on the DB version and sticking around for RP until we transfer, then joining us on the AD version after the 9th of June. Since we're in Durotar for the next few weeks, you should be safe enough at level 10.

So by all means feel free to join us on DB Krohgnar while levelling up AD Krohgnar! That is in fact the best of both worlds.

So yes, contact an officer or senior member in-game at your earliest convenience, and best of luck!
