Howling nights.

Rhys layed motionless in bed, bathing in sweat, holding his breath.
He was sure he heard something.. something outside.
Whilst staring up at the roof he could not see in the dark, all he heard was the breathing of his wife and the wind blowing some leaves around their house in Darkshire.
His heart skipped a beat when he though he heard the sound again.. a soft whimpering.

Rhys slipped out of bed and grabbed his pitchfork and torch, if this was that Worg again, killing his livestock , he would make sure this was the last time it did.

Once outside he was struck with disgust and awe, before him lay a massacre, all of his precious cows were littered around, nothing but bloodied carcasses on the ground, gutted and their throats ripped straight off.

A chill climbs up his spine as he gags for air, the warm damp of the blood reaches his nostril’s and he clings onto his pitchfork for some stability, as he looks up he can see a hairy back move between the carcasses of the cows, the beast responsible for this bloodshed was still present!

He grabs his pitchfork and slowly moves closer, carefully placing his naked feet between the scattered intestine’s, not taking his eye’s off his target, which came closer with every step he took, he could now hear the cracking of bones and the mauling of flesh, Suddenly the large shape moved, it had noticed his precense..

Seconds later, Rhys found himself surrounded by several wolves, each big enough to look him directly into the eye’s, everywhere he looked he was greeted by teeth and hatefilled burning eye’s , then a larger, humanoid figure rised among the backs of the wolves, ‘’Worgen!?’’ flashed through his mind, but the silhouette was bigger then any worgen he had seen.
Then the figure spoke, a single word, pronounced harsh and it was little more then a growl, ‘’Orcish’’ Rhys thought, realizing it would be his last..

The next morning a widow awoke from her sleep, unaware of the horror that had befallen her husband.
