Red Blade Records / Mruthgor the Shaman-King
April 24, 2015, 09:46:50 PM

Name: Mruthgor the Shaman-King
Alias: N/A
Rank: Chieftain & Shaman-King

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Shaman
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Family: ? ? ? (heir)
Known Friends: Gruthgar the Ragged, Thur-Ruk Oracles, the Varog'Gor, Cult of the Wolf
Known Enemies: Thunderlord Clan, Ogres

Appearance:
Clad head to toe in various Clan heirlooms, Mruthgor seemed keen indeed to project an image of legitimacy. His long beard would grey prematurely due to his spirit-walking -- in latter years, he was never seen without the mighty enchanted iron mace known as the Scepter of the Shaman-King.

Personality:
A manipulative flatterer and scheming politician, Mruthgor took advantage of his Chieftain Gruthgar's lack of interest in domestic Clan business to increase his influence and subtly assert himself as a powerful figure in Clan Redblade.

Mruthgor was a notorious egomaniac as Chieftain, aiming to create a cult of personality around himself, and enforcing his will ruthlessly with the Varog'Gor. Any critics of the Shaman-King would mysteriously disappear, and if they reappeared at all, would soon start singing his praises.

History:
The line of Kraag seemingly ended when the last of his kin, Gruthgar the Ragged, died without an heir. The elders of the Clan gathered and consulted the Thur-Ruk oracles to ask the spirits of the ancestors who should lead them now. The oracles named Mruthgor, a shaman of the tribe who had been the old Chieftain's most trusted advisor, and so he became chieftain and a new dynasty began. Mruthgor was the first of the Shaman-Kings and each of his successors was in their turn a powerful spiritwalker.

In ruling with an iron fist, Mruthgor would cultivate other, more mysterious followers. Talk of strange blood-rituals in the shadows of Kraag'gol circulated, and the first Varog'Gor emerged. These Wolf-Claws gained a reputation as berserkers, fierce fighters and ravagers. Some said that they would enter a trance before battle and that the spirit of the wolf would take over their bodies, transforming them into half-orc, half-beast warriors.

Mruthgor was pleased by this new caste of wild but utterly loyal warriors, and made the Varog'Gor the heart of his army. Orcs of the Clan began to regard them with a mixture of great respect and more than a little fear. Warriors of the Nag'Ogar would compete for the honour of being chosen by the Varog'Gor to join their mysterious pack, but Mruthgor would only choose a few to join them. It was not enough to be the strongest or bravest -- the Shaman-King chose only those with the right character, the right kind of spirit to become one with the wolf.

Soon, Mruthgor had coerced the Thur-Ruk Oracles into an unprecedented ritual to forge a powerful artefact and weapon. Decades of spirit-walking had dealt a cost to the Shaman-King, as his spiritual powers began to fade. To reverse this, the Oracles pledged their power to him, each sacrificing some of their spirit within the Scepter of the Shaman-King, which became an extraordinary spiritual conduit.

Upon Mruthgor's death, the Scepter would be handed down from Chieftain to Chieftain, though none had the power to wield it. It would be lost following the upheaval of Akesh the Poisoner's treachery, only emerging decades later in the hands of the Twilight's Hammer cult, who sought to adapt its power to enslave untold numbers of elementals to their cause.

Mruthgor's spirit reached out and connected to several Red Blade orcs, convincing them to scour all of southern Kalimdor in a bid to track down the Scepter. After the Shaman-King's spirit personally escorted them to the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, the tribe descended into the ancient city to retrieve the Scepter and ensure it did not fall into the hands of evil again.

Things you may know about this character:
The Scepter of the Shaman-King is being held in a secure location, currently known only to Sadok Sharptongue. Whether any of the tribe's spiritualists can even wield the artefact is unknown.

Mruthgor's spirit responds well to flattery, making him an easy ancestor to barter boons from.

Mruthgor's memorial stone in Kraag'gol is six inches taller than Kraag's.

Things you may not know about this character:
Mruthgor was the founder of the legendary Cult of the Wolf. Little is known of the origins of how Mruthgor came to found this circle of shaman, but the most commonly told story is that, after a long period of searching and meditating, he had found the spirit of the first revered Wolfking, Kraag. With the Wolfking's help, he created the Cult in order to make sure that the clan will continue walking the path of the spirits and the wilds, true to the wolves that had once terrorised and, eventually, allied the clan.

Memorable Quotes:
"We shall be as wolves; ferocious and spirited. The blood our enemies will flow before us, as we, the Redblades, move as a pack."

Red Blade Records / Gruthgar the Ragged
April 24, 2015, 09:26:00 PM

Name: Gruthgar the Ragged
Alias: The Ragged Chief
Rank: Chieftain & Wolfking

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: ? ? ? (father)
Known Friends: Mruthgor
Known Enemies: Thunderlord Clan, Ogres

Appearance:
A giant of an orc, Gruthgar's armor had to be adapted for his hulking frame, with metal plates bound by leather buckles. Clan heirlooms such as the Warmask of Magoth seemed to fit him poorly, and so he wore them only on important occasions. He wielded the greataxe of his ancestor Hukraz with only one hand.

Personality:
Most at home in battle, Gruthgar had little time for the more mundane aspects of leading Clan Redblade. He entrusted a lot of day-to-day matters to the Thur-Ruk Oracles, and in particular Mruthgor, who wormed his way into becoming the Chieftain's closest and most trusted advisor.

History:
Very little is known about the reign of Gruthgar the Ragged, but it is known that he was the last ruling Wolfking for a long period of time. After his passing, his most trusted shaman, Mruthgor, took over and became the first Shaman-King.

Somehow, his blood seems to have lived on, because the line of Wolfkings returned to seize control of the Clan after a long rule underneath the Shaman-Kings.

Things you may know about this character:
Gruthgar is said to have earned the name "the Ragged" due to the heavy wear and tear his large, muscular frame would put on his armor.

Things you may not know about this character:
Records of Gruthgar's reign are incredibly limited. It is speculated that parts of the Annals were purposefully destroyed, perhaps by Mruthgor the Shaman-King and his Varog'Gor. The motives for this are unknown.

Red Blade Records / Grugna Longhand
April 24, 2015, 09:14:12 PM

Name: Grugna Longhand
Alias: The Matriarch
Rank: Chieftain

Age: Deceased
Gender: Female
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Sage
Alignment: Lawful Good

Family: Hukraz (father), Skagluk the Giantkiller (uncle), ? ? ? (heir)
Known Friends: Numerous amongst the varied clans and warbands.
Known Enemies: None

Appearance:
A small, slight orc, Grugna is a far echo from her hulking, musclebound ancestors. Wearing a wolfcap made from a frost-wolf, she favors simple but warm garments of fur and hide. Notably, Grugna is never seen with any form of weapon, nor any of the heirlooms of Clan Redblade.

Personality:
Grugna was a principled but perceptive orc. Choosing to lead by example, Grugna was a lifelong pacifist who vowed never to fight herself and made a show of never carrying a weapon. Her authority relied on wisdom and her veneration for the ancestors, and with decades of determination, she relished the challenge in transforming the Redblades from weakness and the ravages of war into a healthy and prosperous Clan.

History:
Still a child, Grugna was made the first ever female Chieftain of Clan Redblade aged fourteen, when her father Hukraz perished in a raid against the Thunderlord Clan. Although female leaders were relatively uncommon in orc society as a whole, Clan Redblade's numbers were weak and her claim by bloodline was strong, and so she ascended unopposed.

Grugna Longhand was determined not to repeat the mistakes made by her bloodthirsty father Hukraz. During her lengthy reign, the Matriarch would would pursue a policy of appeasing her neighbours and making allies, ensuring Clan Redblade was always represented at the Kosh'harg Festival in Nagrand.

Grugna Longhand’s reign as Chieftain was a golden age of peace for the Redblades. Although she was originally referred to as a Chieftain as well, she ruled for all her long life and was eventually revered and referred to as a Matriarch.

Her death came about during the Kosh'harg Festival, and her pyre was lit in the Nagrand Ancestral Grounds rather than in her homeland of Kraag'gol.

Things you may know about this character:
During her reign, a Nag'Ogar whose name is lost to history attempted to organise a revolt against Grugna. He was quickly apprehended and rather than be executed, Grugna chose to have him cast into the Frostfire wastes naked, bound and blindfolded. She believed it more merciful to commend the orc's eventual fate into the hands of the Wilds.

Grugna's spirit is quick to answer the tribe's spiritualists, and she is often helpful when it comes to dispensing wisdom.

Future Matriarchs would include the founder of the Red Blade tribe, Akesha Redblade, and Morgeth Feralheart, who was briefly Matriarch during a period in which Kozgugore Feraleye was held captive by the Kor'kron.

Things you may not know about this character:
The origin of the name Longhand is debated, and the Annals do not make it clear which deed earned her that name.

Grugna's heirs are unknown, with an unspecified number of generations elapsing between her reign and that of Gruthgar the Ragged. Though she was of the Line of Kraag, she never called herself Wolfking (or indeed Wolfqueen).

On the alternate Draenor, Grugna's spirit fell victim to the void corruption surrounding Oshu'gun, leaving only a tormented echo. Whether her spirit was consumed entirely is unknown at present.

Memorable Quotes:
"Do not let the chaos of others destroy your inner-peace."

Red Blade Records / Skagluk the Giantkiller
April 24, 2015, 08:50:29 PM

Name: Skagluk the Giantkiller
Alias: Gronnbane
Rank: Nag'Ogar

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Kraag the Wolfking (grandfather), Kraagash (father), Hukraz (brother), Grugna Longhand (niece)
Known Friends: Talbuk Rider Clan
Known Enemies: Gronn, Thunderlord Clan, Ogres

Appearance:
Skagluk wore the same beard and top-knot as his great grandfather Githya. Heavy-set and muscular, he favoured bulkier armor than his brother Hukraz. Skagluk would often wield a polearm with runes of good fortune inscribed upon it.

Personality:
Skagluk valued both strength and honor, and approved of much of his brother Hukraz's skirmishing. A natural leader of orcs, he was learnt keenly from tales of both Githya and Kraag's exploits. It does not appear he was envious of his elder brother's rule as Chieftain and Wolfking.

History:
Skagluk the Giantkiller was raised alongside his brother Hukraz in the reign of Kraagash, learning how to fight and serve his Clan. He was a trusted advisor and battle-leader once Hukraz ascended to the mantle of Chieftain, and fought many battles on his behalf.

When Clan Redblade's numbers began to dwindle due to warfare and a lack of females, many of its orcs began to journey to other lands in search of wives. Soon, the time came for Skagluk to take this journey. He travelled far to the east, until he came to a sheltered valley where there lived a Clan of talbuk riding orcs. The Talbuk Riders were fighting a desperate war against the giants of the mountains, the gronn. Every day, many of them fell and things looked bleak for them.

Skagluk had learned many of the tactics of his warrior grandfather Kraag the Wolfking, and he came to the Talbuk Riders’ aid. He rallied their fighters, organised them into an army and led them into battle against the giants. The fighting was terrible and bloody. For many days they fought, but in the end the orcs prevailed. Yet the victory was at too great a cost. Most of the Talbuk warriors lay dead and their wives were made widows.

Skagluk led the survivors back to Clan Redblade’s lands. The Redblades took the Talbuk women as wives and so the future of the Clan was assured. It is unknown how and when Skagluk passed away, but it would appear he did so before his brother Hukraz, as Grugna Longhand had the mantle of Chieftain passed to her despite being underage.

Things you may know about this character:
The tale of Skagluk is often told amongst the Red Blades today as a moral fable illustrating the importance of teamwork and tenacity in the face of overwhelming odds.

Things you may not know about this character:
Many of Skagluk's battles seem to be unrecorded in the Annals. Whether this is because they were so numerous or because records were lost is unknown.

Red Blade Records / Hukraz
April 24, 2015, 08:31:12 PM

Name: Hukraz
Alias: N/A
Rank: Chieftain & Wolfking

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Kraag the Wolfking (grandfather) Kraagash (father), Skagluk the Giantkiller (brother), Grugna Longhand (daughter).
Known Friends: N/A
Known Enemies: Thunderlord Clan, Ogres, other warbands.

Appearance:
A lean orc, Hukraz wore various Clan heirlooms, including the Warmask of Magoth atop his head and Kraag's golden spiked pauldrons and iron leggings. The rest of his regalia seemed built for skirmishing, as he favored a lighter leather tunic and gauntlets. His weapon of choice was a long greataxe that he often wielded from upon wolfback.

Personality:
A naturally bloodthirsty and reckless warleader, Hukraz's skirmishes were many and often costly. He pursued costly vendettas to the detriment of his Clan, seeming to take particular offence to the Thunderlord Clan. He was warm and respectful towards his warrior-brother Skagluk, yet had little affection for his daughter Grugna, seeming to treat her with neglect.

History:
Hukraz was the eldest grandson of the fabled Kraag the Wolfking. During his period as Chieftain, Clan Redblade was taken in a long period of war, as Hukraz's provocations and pillaging made him many enemies and no allies. With the body count rising, the clan's numbers were dwindling rapidly by the years. Too few children were being born to the clan to replace those who died, since having begun as a mercenary army, the Clan contained very few orc women.

Even after Skagluk the Giantkiller's southern expedition secured new wives for the Clan's warriors, Hukraz's constant warfare continued. During another strike against the Thunderlords, Hukraz was mortally wounded and died on the field of battle. When he died, he had no male heirs, which resulted in his eldest daughter Grugna Longhand becoming the first Matriarch recorded in history.

Things you may know about this character:
His brother Skagluk and daughter Grugna seem better known to most Red Blades nowadays than Hukraz himself.

Things you may not know about this character:
Hukraz and Skagluk's memorial stones sit side by side in Kraag'gol's graveyard. Grugna is not with them, her remains being within Nagrand's Ancestral Grounds.

Memorable Quotes:
“With tooth and claw, with axe and sword, bring the fight to the Thunderlord! Beat the war-drums and sound the horn!”

Other Information:
Hukraz's death and pyre is recounted in the Song of Hukraz, also known as "In Old Kraag'gol".

Red Blade Records / Kraag the Wolfking
April 24, 2015, 08:07:17 PM

Name: Kraag the Wolfking
Alias: N/A
Rank: Chieftain & Wolfking

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Githya Redblade (father), Kraagash (son)
Known Friends: Magoth, Magoth's Wolfpack
Known Enemies: Ogres

Appearance:
An almost mythical figure in Clan Redblade lore, Kraag seems to have the same herculean physique and strength his father Githya is endowed with. From his golden spiked pauldrons to his iron scalemail leggings, much of his armor was passed down and worn by his successors. It is also known that he wielded his father's famous blade.

Kraag began the tradition of wearing wolfmasks among Clan Redblade. When the great worg Magoth died, Kraag made a fierce warmask out of his head. Magoth’s Warmask became an heirloom of the Clan, passed down through the generations from chieftain to chieftain.

Personality:
An orc of unparalleled cunning, Kraag was a pragmatic figure whose primary goal in life was the foundation and survival of his new Clan Redblade. Not as hellbent on revenge or plunder as his father, Kraag was nonetheless a fearless leader who favoured bold and unorthodox solutions to difficult problems.

It can be assumed that Kraag was not a modest orc, given his claiming of the title "Wolfking", and christening both his eldest son Kraagash and his Clan's settlement of Kraag'gol in his name.

History:
Kraag the Wolfking was the eldest son of Githya and became the first chieftain of Clan Redblade. Having learnt under his ruthless father in his latter years, he proved his right to lead not just by his bloodline but his strength of body and mind.

In Kraag’s reign, the Redblades were troubled by fearsome wolves who came down from the mountains. Kraag travelled to the lair of the wolves and laying his blade aside, wrestled with their leader, a huge black garn named Magoth. Kraag both defeated and tamed Magoth, and the great wolf became Kraag’s companion for the rest of his life.

Kraag became known as the Wolfking after this triumph, as the Redblades and hill-wolves allied with one another. Within the shadow of Magoth's lair, the Clan built their first permanent settlement -- an outpost known as the Home of Kraag, or Kraag'gol in ancient orcish. A stone monolith in his remembrance was laid outside Kraag'gol upon his passing.

Things you may know about this character:
Kraag is both the first Chieftain and first Wolfking of Clan Redblade, and is perhaps the most venerated of all its Chieftains. Centuries later, Grenth Stonebrow could lay claim to being part of Kraag's bloodline.

One of the sons of Kozgugore and Morgeth was named Kraag, in his honor. His name seems to have traveled widely, as the Shadowmoon mystic Kraagara Starmaw is also likely to have been named after him.

The Nag'Ogar were created by Kraag himself, as an honor-guard that ate at his table within Kraag'gol.

Things you may not know about this character:
The spirit of Kraag is amongst the hardest of all the Clan Redblade ancestors to contact, having been sighted precious few times over the centuries. The secretive Cult of the Wolf was created when Mruthgor the Shaman King, a powerful Spiritwalker, achieved this feat.

Red Blade Records / Githya Redblade
April 24, 2015, 07:10:22 PM

Name: Githya Redblade
Alias: Warcrow, Widowmaker
Rank: Warlord

Age: Deceased
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Ironfoot Clan
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Kraag the Wolfking (Son)
Known Friends: Rorlug the Black, Redblade Warband
Known Enemies: Mugruk the Fat, Ironfoot Clan

Appearance:
Though detail is sparing, Githya is described as a formidable and imposing orc who maintained peak fitness even in his older years. With a flowing white beard and martial top-knot, he was known to wear blood red war-paint on some of his raids to strike fear in his enemies. Though at ease with a variety of weapons or even his bare hands, he is typically depicted with a blood-soaked sword.

Personality:
Githya is known as an utterly ruthless commander of orcs. His bloodthirst seemed endless, and few were safe from his far-reaching ambition for pillage and plunder. Such was his ferocity that he came to be called ‘Redblade’ as they said that his sword was ever red with the blood of fallen foes. A master tactician, Githya was not above using deception and manipulation to secure victory by any means.

History:
Centuries ago in a bygone age, Githya was a young warrior of the Ironfoot Clan favoured by the corpulent Chief Mogruk the Fat. When the time came for the Ironfoots to pay tribute to the Overlord of the Northern Clans, Githya was sent with a valuable cargo on Mogruk's behalf.

His party was ambushed by bandits and slain, but Githya was spared and held for ransom by Rorlug the Black. As Githya was held in his hall, the cunning orc turned Rorlug to his cause and decided to extort the Ironfoots by profiting upon his own ransom. Rising to become the leader of a band of bandits, Githya Redblade's mercenary army grew so large and strong that the chieftains of the orc clans began to fear them.

Wishing for peace with his former warrior, Mogruk would send summons to host and feast the Redblade Warband. But the Ironfoot Chief planned a great treachery, as his warriors assassinated a great many of Githya's men. Redblade swore vengeance, and at the Battle of Khazud, Mogruk's forces were quickly routed and defeated. With Mogruk's head taken as a trophy, the Ironfoot survivors pledged themselves to Githya and joined his warband.

Many years later, when the old orc fell in battle, the chieftains of Draenor feared that Redblade's mercenaries would become uncontrollable. So they agreed that Githya’s warriors should become a clan of their own and granted them land far to the north where no orc yet lived. Thus the army became Clan Redblade, and travelled to their new home, in the most inhospitable regions of Frostfire Ridge.

Things you may know about this character:
It is from Githya that the name 'Redblade' originated from. His son was Kraag the Wolfking, the first Chieftain of Clan Redblade.

Things you may not know about this character:
As a figure from ancient times, much about Githya is unknown.

Memorable Quotes:
"“Do you want riches and power? Then do what I ask.”
"If two thousand coins is a fortune to you, then you are in the wrong trade.”

Other Information:
A saga of Githya's origins, written by Matriarch Akesha Redblade, his very distant ancestor.

Red Blade Records / Rashlak Hawkwind
April 23, 2015, 10:34:42 PM

Name: Rashlak Hawkwind
Alias: Dengue
Rank: New Blood

Age: Mid-30s
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Unknown
Class: Shaman
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Unknown
Known Friends: Red Blade tribe, Venomhide Ravasaurs.
Known Enemies: Venomhide Ravasaurs.

Appearance:
You might just smell Rashlak before you see him. An earthy, pungent odor of sweat, leather and other unidentified scents seems to follow this orc wherever he goes.

Clad from head to toe in moist, often mouldy leather armor, Rashlak never seems to show his skin. His armor is decorated with various bone-trophies and precious crystals, including two panther skulls on his pauldrons and a hawk-bone headdress over his face.

Personality:
It is said that Rashlak was once an earnest, entirely normal spiritualist who exercised moderation and devoted himself to his craft. No longer, for this orc's shattered mind seems to be warped into a confusing potpourri of broken orcish.

Easily confused by even simple concepts, and seeming to misunderstand basic instructions, Rashlak's warped mind lends him to try and aid his fellow orcs in the ways they least require. Whether it be his inventory of expired foodstuffs or his enthusiasm for sawing off limbs as medical treatment, any remaining goodwill is expressed in an entirely baffling manner.

History:
Trained in secret by a devout shaman within the internment camps, Rashlak had learnt what it meant to act like a spiritualist before the orcs' connection to the elements was even restored. Considered a promising prospect, Rashlak had little time for the Horde and Alliance's conflicts, instead devoting himself to observing the world around him.

Perhaps it was this which sent Rashlak along with the ill-fated Williden Marshal expedition to the unknown land of Un'Goro Crater. After the horrific accident which led to the desertion of their base-camp, Rashlak ended up getting lost within a system of caves he had escaped to.

He reached out to the spirits at first, but then found himself attracted to a different kind of mysticism. Rashlak would become obsessed with the Power Crystals within the cave, and spending aeons staring into their endlessly-refracting prisms, he would begin to lose track of time and finally his mind.

The orc that finally exited that cave was another person entirely. Spurned by nearly everyone he met, Rashlak's path would briefly cross with the Red Blade tribe. He proved deeply unpopular around campfires, and so the extent of his contributions usually came in battle against various enemies large and small.

As suddenly as Rashlak had found the tribe, he was soon gone again, and has not been seen since.

Things you may know about this character:
Between his smell and his personality, Rashlak was unlikely to ever last with the Red Blade tribe without a heavy attitude adjustment.

Rashlak was assaulted by Vashnarz for asking her to feel his sack. A burlap sack in which he kept his salted pork, of course.

Things you may not know about this character:
Rashlak's connection to the elements lingered even in spite of madness, though he rarely mustered enough self-awareness to call upon them.

Memorable Quotes:

  • "What doesn’t kill Dengue make him stronger. Dengue very strong. Dengue nearly die nearly all the times."
  • "Dengue lost train of thought. Dengue never saw train. Only saw toy train. Go in circles. Round and round. Crater go round and round too. One big circle. But no train. Not explored. Ravasaurs don’t build train. Ravasaur arms too small." -- Rashlak confuses himself (and everyone around him).
  • "Dengue hear lots of jokes from ravasaurs. They no talk but they very funny. Their jokes always so snappy! Ha! Funny cause they bit Dengue. Dengue nearly died, yes!" -- Breaking the ice with a 'joke'.
  • "Dengue then found out why they called Venomhide ravasaurs. Cause they have venom on their hide. And they are also ravasaurs. Makes sense, Dengue thinks." - Rashlak's indepth discussion on etymology.
  • "Tried to get out. Couldn’t. Lost in cave. Lost mind. Lost marbles. Lost everything." -- Rashlak describing his entrapment in Un'Goro.

Red Blade Records / Marzek the Iron-Willed
April 23, 2015, 10:10:52 PM

Name: Marzek the Iron-Willed
Alias: None
Rank: Oathbound

Age: 74
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Frostwolf Clan
Class: Shaman
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Family: Markoth (father), Shaklar (mother), Grakla (former mate).
Known Friends: Frostwolf Clan, Red Blade tribe, Earthen Ring (loose affiliation).
Known Enemies: Stormpike Clan.

Appearance:
An elderly spiritualist that walks slowly with a pained limp. His skin is wrinkled and pallid and his eyes rheumatic. His greyed beard is long and scraggly, with clots of dirt and twigs tatting the hair.

Marzek is clad in a variety of dull and thick pelts, some new and others frayed and ancient. His simple platemail pauldrons are held in place by a worn battle-harness, from which animal bones, horns and teeth hang as trophies. His armors are dyed in the colors of the Frostwolf Clan, and he wears its tabard with pride.

A rusted longknife and fur-reinforced shield are easy to hand, though the heavy weaponry is ill-suited to the feeble elder, who struggles to wield them.

Personality:
Marzek is usually reserved about his own dealings, preferring to solve his problems through counsel with ancestral spirits - he is forward about asking aid from his tribe or Clan should the spirits refuse their boon, however. The elder prefers tales and proverbs to illustrate his arguments, and is often found in quiet contemplation or meditation.

He can become grumpy and stubborn when he perceives the erosion of tradition and 'the old ways', finding many modern orcs without respect or perspective. He has a peculiar detachment to the war in Azeroth as a whole, but will fight without hesitation should battle come his way.

History:
Marzek is closely-guarded about his personal history. He was born upon Draenor before the Dying Times, and lived as a typical Frostwolf youth would, competing and sparring amongst his kin, taking the Rite of Om'riggor and hunting to impress his Clan females. Though with no immediate interest in shamanism, the orc nonetheless held a solemn respect for the ancestors, instilled in him by his wise father, an orc he greatly admired.

When the Legion tempted the orcs of Draenor, Marzek followed the Frostwolf in resisting Kil'jaeden. When Gul'dan condemned the Frostwolf, he followed his Clan across the Dark Portal as it went into hiding. As the rest of the Horde embraced the fel, the Frostwolf held onto their traditions in exile - Marzek grew to value the ways of old as separating them from the monstrous evils committed by others.

After decades in the Alterac Mountains, Marzek found himself more receptive to the call of the spirits - the older orc had already learned patience and discipline, and so sought to further his reverence for the spirits and practice shamanism. Imposing solitude upon himself, the orc would retreat into the snowy wastes away from his Clan - he would emerge with a new perspective.

It was this perspective that saw the orc leave Frostwolf lands for the first time in many years - though he would fight and die to defend the Valley from the dwarves, there was a greater war to be fought for the sake of the entire orcish race. He found himself greatly disgusted by many of the belligerent, traditionless orcs of Kalimdor, and soon sought the Red Blade tribe, having heard they valued many of the ways of old.

With the tribe, he continued his quest for wisdom and honor, but having grown old and feeble, he was content to leave much of the fighting to others, instead offering mending and counsel where it is needed. He swore the Oath of Blood and undertook the Om'riggor, earning the name "Iron-Willed".

Marzek has not been seen since the time of the Rebellion, shortly after Rargnasha became Chieftain. He grew increasingly concerned and frustrated with the actions of orcs like Grogona, Vashnarz and Shargla, who seemed to have little time for the counsel of such an experienced orc.

It is likely that, should Marzek still live, he returned to his Frostwolf homeland, at last disillusioned with the world outside Alterac Valley.

Things you may know about this character:
Marzek values tradition over everything else, even when 'the old ways' have become obsolete or highly difficult.

He is often fond of forcing his opinion on others without their asking, and will often ramble to himself if nobody is listening.

Things you may not know about this character:
After years in the Alterac Valley, Marzek has developed a begrudging respect for dwarves.

Memorable Quotes:

  • "Back in my day..."
  • "You youngsters don't know how good you have it!"

Other Information:
Given his age, it is highly likely that some younger version of Marzek is wandering amongst the Frostwolves of alternate Draenor.

Known Friends: Unknown
Known Enemies: Sadok Sharptongue, Kyrazha Throatrender, Red Blade tribe.

Appearance:
Clad in dishevelled rags, Luk's muscular body is well-adapted to labor, with broad shoulders and a hunchback. His face is covered in slight stubble, and his teeth are yellowed, with chunks of food still stuck between them.

His large red eyes gaze vacantly ahead, making the orc seem inattentive at the best of times. He is rarely seen without a lumber axe, mining pick and his trusty flax sack, where items of interest are obsessively hoarded by the peon.

Personality:
As a peon, though obviously lacking in intelligence, Luk seems good-hearted, with a fondness for food and snoozing. Though he dislikes hard-labor, he seems to accept it as part of his duty as peon. He appears prone to impetuous actions and flights of fancy, though his competence far outstrips his ambitions.

In actuality, Luk is an obsessive megalomaniac with a god-complex, preferring to manipulate those around him and use foul magic to create twisted new creations. His penchant for cruelty and revenge often proves his downfall, as he gets easily carried away.

History:
Not much is known about Luk's early life. He first came to note as one of the handful of orcs training in the Undercity's Magic Quarter, where he made friends with Sadok Slitherblade. The pair would eventually travel to the Cleft of Shadows in Orgrimmar, and Luk's research interests would delve deeper into taboo subjects like necromancy.

Performing hideous experiments within a secret location near Orgrimmar, he would eventually show Sadok his amateur fleshcrafting and soulshaping. Mortified, Slitherblade would inform the Kor'kron of Luk's forbidden ways, and Vileclaw would be chased out of Orgrimmar after a bounty was placed on his head.

His life-work, career and reputation in tatters, Luk would quickly lose his mind, and eventually resurfaced in the guise of a peon. He worked long hours within the Valley of Trials, but after an unfortunate accident resulted in his taskmaster's inexplicable combustion, the peon went into hiding again.

He finally resurfaced in Winterspring, pledging himself to the Red Blade tribe in an attempt to find, locate and revenge himself upon Sadok. Finding Sharptongue to be dead, he concocted an alternate plan. After a spree of suspicious behaviour, stealing the corpse of Sadok's assassin and murdering both Keishara's wolf Brutal and Tickles the draft-pony, Luk would have everything he needed.

Unfortunately, just as Luk prepared to reanimate an undead Sadok, he was apprehended by the Red Blade tribe an executed. Though Sadok would be brought into undeath, Luk would not see it. A soulstone ritual permitted his spirit to endure, as he underwent a long and painful year-long regeneration ritual.

Luk would soon kidnap Sadok again, but the wily mage fled by polymorphing Vileclaw into an asparagus. Some time later, strange letters were found in Winter Veil gifts that appeared to be in Luk's maddened scrawl -- children's rhymes and veiled threats.

Finally, a strange black sheep would encounter Sadok during his visit to Zangarra, and follow him obsessively in the weeks after. Observing every last action, Forbe the sheep managed to lure Sadok's mate Kyrazha away. Forbe revealed himself as Luk under a polymorph spell, and the warlock enslaved her mind using an enchanted necklace.

Kyrazha would serve her new Master by trying to murder Sadok with a knife. Unfortunately for Luk, she was captured by the Red Blades, and his attempts to spring her free resulted in his own arrest, imprisonment and execution. To prevent him from using a similar soulstone ritual, his spirit was absorbed into Caruk's soulblade, where he is now condemned to spend eternity.

Things you may know about this character:
Luk prefers to speak like a peon even after his disguise has dropped, twisting around words and names in a mocking fashion.

Things you may not know about this character:
Luk's time as a New Blood earned him both friends and a whirlwind romance with a certain Mok'nathal. Who said peons couldn't love?

Memorable Quotes:

  • "Work-work."
  • "Okidoki."
  • "Something need doing?"
  • "Me can do dat."
  • "Me busy. Leave me alone."
  • "Me not dat kind of orc!"

Other Information:
Luk is still remembered today for infamously mangling General Rargnasha Bloodmark's name into "Genital Bloodfart".

Red Blade Records / Sadok Sharptongue
April 23, 2015, 09:00:21 PM

Name: Sadok Sharptongue
Alias: Slitherblade
Rank: True Blood

Age: Deceased (34 at time of death)
Gender: Male
Race: Orc
Clan: Laughing Skull Clan
Class: Mage
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Family: Wrakks (father), Iswer (mother), Croash (brother), Rhonya Steelheart (mate), Kyrazha Throatrender (former mate), Vashnarz Talonslayer (former mate), Igurg & Iswer (daughters), Altan & Zoran (sons).
Known Friends: Red Blade Tribe, Horde Arcane Conclave, Arcane Enclave of Orgrimmar Sukeenah.
Known Enemies: Luk Vileclaw, Nahuna, Drustai, the Strongbrews.

Appearance:
Sadok was an orc of rigid, formal posture. His pockmarked face, punctuated by a patchy unkempt beard, bore a hostile stare and menacing snarl. His voice, raspy and firm, speaks in a peculiar heavily-stilted fashion.

Sharptongue's maroon robes, lined with dull purple pelts, were reinforced with metal plating, particularly on his bracers and pauldrons. Five ochre fangs adorned his belt, along with a capacious satchel and a weathered spellbook. He wielded an oversized cobalt spellblade with a tigerseye focus and a rusted ornamental scepter.

Personality:
Sadok exuded an abrasive obnoxiousness, drowning out conversation with cringeworthy puns, salacious double entendres and banal, esoteric observations. When under perceived threat, he often turned hostile, quick to insult and tease whilst narcissistically proclaiming himself ‘an honest orc’, superior in both intellect and morality to all others. This harsh obloquy often mellowed whenever in the company of senior figures within the tribe, replaced with coy sycophancy.

Those that have come to know the mage on more than a superficial basis might find that his vain ego-driven solipsism was partly a disguise for his own neurotic self-doubts - one might posit that he had adopted a superiority complex to hide his inferiority complex.

History:
Born in Lordamere Internment Camp, a young Sadok saw the lethargy take hold on the adults in the camp, including his father. Stories of past glories stirred his imagination, but they were impossible to reconcile with the withered warriors telling them, long ago defeated in body and mind.

When the camp was sacked by the New Horde several years later, Sadok experienced freedom for the first time. In time, the orc would accompany the Horde across the sea, but his scrawniness and impatience would see him consigned to menial work, assisting grunts in the Founding of Durotar. Around the campfire one night in Durotar, he would become captivated by a story of the mystical 'shaman', long-lost spiritualists whose power derived not from physical strength but through strength of will. Eventually tracking down one of these reclusive figures, he was deemed unworthy to train as shaman due to his impatience and burgeoning delusions of grandeur.

With the path of shaman closed to him, and deeply frustrated with his former duties, the petulant orc chose to barter passage back across the Great Sea. Returning to the ruins of Lordamere Internment Camp, the only true home he had known, he felt a lack of belonging or of purpose - until he was dazzled by a spectacular sight. The blazing beacon of Dalaran's protective dome was impregnable to him, but he felt compelled to find answers as to what it was - first to the Frostwolf, who knew little; and finally to the Forsaken, newly-allied to the Horde.

Finding a Forsaken mage, the orc begged for understanding. This supplication amused the undead, who ran experiments as to whether a 'crude beast' like an orc could be capable of harnessing the eldritch arts. In time, Sadok was begrudgingly permitted amongst the acrid fumes and dizzying scents of the Magic Quarter - he was ignored by many of the Forsaken, but he craved not social attention but the knowledge within the arcane texts. In time, he had learned to read these tomes; many months later he would begin to apply their techniques.

After five years within the Magic Quarter's libraries, Sadok had become an arcanist of limited talent but grand ambition; dressing in shadow-weave robes and peppering his speech with nonsensical vernacular found within some of the texts he had read, he was indeed somewhat changed. He would return to Kalimdor after hearing news of the Arcane Enclave's foundation within the Cleft of Shadow - continuing his studies there, he would begin to immerse himself amongst his people once more.

Repulsed by the seedy Orgrimmar taverns, brothels and gambling-houses, the initial thrill of rejoining his people was short-lived. The ambitious orc's mind turned to the political, as he sought to extend his influence and carve a legacy for himself. In time, he sought out the Red Blade tribe, a small but well-regarded pack. His ambitions were thwarted time and time again by his own breaches of decorum and by his morose mentor.

In time, his priorities began to change, however. He made steadfast friends, brothers and sisters amongst this tribe - orcs that would die for him without hesitation. He slowly began to view the tribe's continued strength as an extension of his own self-interest. In turn, this new perspective rewarded him with advancement within the tribe, as he was called forward to take his Oath of Blood, perform the rites of Gosh'kar, and in time become Thur'ruk and High Blade of the tribe.

Then everything would fall apart. Assassinated by the Kor'kron during the tribe's exile from Hellscream's Horde, Sadok briefly found peace in death, before the machinations of a scheming warlock-turned-peon called Luk would see his soul implanted within the corpse of his assassin. This undead Sadok quickly went mad as his tribe rejected him, and his mate Vashnarz chose to become one of Rargnasha's mates.

Eventually, Rhonya would lead a ritual to try and reverse Sadok's madness, and the ancestral spirits would offer Sharptongue life anew in return for penance, swearing oaths of servitude to serve the spirits. Though alive once more, Sadok would soon become increasingly frustrated under Rargnasha's command, only able to rely on the support of his new mate Kyrazha.

When Kozgugore was made Chieftain once more after the tribe traveled to an alternate Draenor, Sadok would officially reclaim the title of High Blade for the first time since his death. With his personal ambition supplanted by a ruthless desire to benefit his tribe no matter the cost, Sadok was both the same and much-changed -- yet this could not last.

With the strain of his arcane magicks and duties as High Blade Thur'ruk taking a progressively higher toll on the orc, Sadok was forced into taking a period of absence from the tribe to recuperate. During this time, he underwent his first Vision Quest, a trying pilgrimage that tormented him with visions of a life with his blood-sister Rhonya, an orc from whom he had always tried to hide his feelings for.

Returning to the tribe with his sanity barely intact, he would unhappily separate from Kyrazha in a bid to realise this fantasy. After much reluctance, Rhonya would finally accept his advances, and the pair would be mated after a short courtship. The strain of a particularly stressful Kosh'harg would precipitate another absence from the tribe, with Sadok predisposed to resignation from his duties upon his return.

Made True Blood of the tribe, he accepted that other orcs must now lead the next generation of the Red Blades. The challenge that awaited Sadok was finding new purpose in his 'retirement' from active service, and though he enjoyed the newfound leisure and family time he gained, he slowly became an awkward fringe figure around the tribe. His life would be cut short during the Legion's invasion of Azeroth, as he died defending his cubs' retreat through the Barrens. Crushed to death beneath the ruins of his hut, he was given a customary pyre once found by the tribe.

Things you may know about this character:
Sadok was a scheming politician who chairs the Horde Arcane Conclave and occupied a prominent position in the Red Blade tribe as its most senior spiritualist, despite what some would view as a lack of aptitude for either role.

Sadok was a rigid supporter of Garrosh Hellscream, though this quickly changed after the Kor'kron killed him. He believed in weaponising the arcane, but will often resort to traditional methods before employing magic.

Sadok really really really didn't like Vol'jin. He just didn't.

Things you may not know about this character:
Sadok had a longstanding shady relationship with Groshnakk Wyrmbreaker, wherein he would observe the crooked Varog'Gor sacrifice New Bloods and other innocents to empower her runeblade.

The exact nature of the oaths Sadok swore to the ancestors was unknown. He had confided in others that there are as many as five separate clauses, with one being absolute loyalty to the Chieftain, and another being to represent the ancestors' best interests over his own.

Memorable Quotes:

  • "This delay is intolerable, tutor. According to my projections, I should be at least High Blade by now!" -- expressing frustration to Karak whilst New Blood, in a quote now funny in hindsight.
  • "...by the Nether." -- a common utterance when at a loss for words
  • "Y'wha'?" -- Sadok often says this when confused.

Other Information:
Sadok starred in his own comic series during a period of RP inactivity.

As this forum is populated, information about important tribal figures who are no longer active in-game or on this forum (like Mazguul Sharpeye) may be added at the discretion of the Elders.

If you are one of these orcs, returning to WoW or to the forums, and wish to write your own character profile, simply bump your thread stating this desire, and it will be deleted so you can write your own.

Game Related / Character Profiles: Wiki vs Forum?
April 22, 2015, 10:01:02 PM
The Orcs of the Red Blade Wiki is somewhat outdated as of late, with several orcs having not made their profiles, or their profiles having not been updated in years. There are a couple of reasons that may be the case, from lack of visibility to the effort required to make or update a profile, to whatever else.

With some of the recent changes to the website, it's now possible to have a character-profile section built into the forums instead, similar to the DefiasRP forums: http://www.defiasrp.com/f189-orc

Instead of creating Wiki pages, orcs would be able to make alphabetised forum threads for each of their characters, following this copy-paste template (but able to edit it in any way they wish):

Any other information on the Wiki can be relocated to appropriate homes on the website, and the use of the Wiki slowly phased out after people are able to salvage whatever information they require.

So my question is to you: would you prefer to use the Wiki for character-profiles, as we currently do, or would you prefer them to be housed here on the forums in their own separate section?

Further: if you do prefer the Wiki, what would you propose to ensure it was used more often and more accessible to the average member? And if you prefer the forum, would you want any changes to the provided template, or any added features for the character-profiles?

Please give your feedback and vote on the poll!

Red Blade Records / Read Before Posting

This forum is for character profiles. Please only make one post per character, though you are welcome to make profiles for all your orcs.

You may include pictures of your character if you so like. You can upload pictures securely to the Gallery or host them on a third-party site like Photobucket or Imageshack.

If your pictures are too large or require cropping, and you lack the ability to do this yourself, websites like PicResize can do this both freely and quickly.

Please follow this template for your characters to keep it as nice as possible (just copy-paste this and fill in the "Write here" options. Note that you have to scroll down to get everything):

April 19, 2015, 01:12:24 PM
For anyone that's ever been curious about why certain people have a certain number of stars by their name, it's linked to post-count! Now that it's been rejigged a little and stars have been replaced with Marks of the Red Blade, may as well let people know what to aim for! Consider them trophies for posting activity on the forums!

Cub (0-49 posts)

Prowler (50-99 posts)

Proven (100-199 posts)

Venerable (200-399 posts)

Alpha (400+ posts)

Administrator

Any other member-groups by your name aren't related to post-count, but to usergroup permissions. Every guild member should be in the Red Blade category, with past officers in the True Blood category and present officers in the Elder category.

Game Related / Om'riggor Name Directory & Statistics
March 28, 2015, 09:11:35 PM
Because I have too much time on my hands, I generated an alphabetical listing of as many surnames from orcs present and past, in a goal to find the most common terms in orc names.

In doing so, I make two admissions: a) the list is invariably going to be incomplete, since no matter how many names I compile, there'll be missing orcs; b) not all of them will be Om'riggor names, since some of these names are New Bloods and others are from non-Om'riggor sources -- they are nonetheless the names most commonly used by the orcs in question.
