Oh yeah.. that guild.
I would avoid posting anything on that thread. Instead, watch from afar, read other people's posts and gather clues to what type of people are behind those same comments. While their posts should never determine the kind of people they really are outside of the forum, it's still a tool to learn about one or another person on a superficial level.

.. Though I see that you did post. That'll give you some "positive points" on your outlook I guess. But I don't know if that's wise given how "new" you are on this realm. Some people might claim that you are new and "trying to fit in the crowd", which isn't bad.. though it can backfire in some contexts, namely on heated arguments.

Fortunately, you have the majority of the realm (given that you sided with the appropriate side against those horrendous acts) on your side so no harm done (on the contrary actually, it contributed for the mass voice of disgust towards those ill actions!). THOUGH one of the members of that guild in question did posted something about "jumping the bandwagon", which proves my point that such types of posts considering your (guild) youth on this server may backfire. One thing to consider in the future if you decide to once again post things of the sorts on more "passive but yet heated mud flinging" topics on which you aren't even part of the subject in question.

... Anyway, it's an advise. You can either read, think about it or discard and do what you wish. I'll still watch from afar and comment now and then because, for now, you do seem to need some help in this migration. Plus, I do somehow still care for this guild.. even though I was in it for very little. I can fade away if you feel that these posts of mine are useless to your perspective on how things work.

Just a side note. That website had issues in the past, or so I read around the realm forum.
Things related to art claim, mild dramas with individual members and the website's administration on which profiles go "missing", etc etc..

Just a heads up.
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/14755615744#1

Besides an incident in which a rogue admin (who has since been removed from his position) deleted a score of nodes, there haven't been any major screw-ups on the AA team's part. It's perfectly safe to use. :-)

Hm. Though I shall remain a little skeptical (since what are the chances of happening again since it already happened at least once as far as I'm aware), I will consider doing something on the archives in the future.. unless something proves me that my doubts hold some value and not just me being neurotic.
Thank you for the info though!

I'm actually a bit surprised. I didn't thought DB's reaction would be THAT bad. I knew it was going to be bad but not this bad.

Oh well..
I'm still at your side. It will take a while before I can RP with you again (not as an orc and most likely cross faction) so, again, good decision and good luck!  ;D

A.I.
While the movie is not perfect, it still gives me a few tears.. no matter how much I see it.

Yellow, Magenta or both? (Which you like the most of those two colors.. or are they pretty equal on your list)

It's for many always been a bit of a last resource to keep in mind, because the guild started almost 10 years ago on this server and it also has a bit of sentimental value for a lot of people, not to mention the connections we had with other large guilds back then that now don't exist anymore.
And that is something that I know that's truly going on at the end of the road. Ten years on the same place with little change. Everything else off this community that you are familiar with seems strange and bizarre, so they must be bad since they are different. Yeah, those weirdos.
*ahem* *coff*

So yes, sentimental value, which is understandable. Never denied that such is true and, without a doubt, the main reason.

What bugs me is the absurd amount of excuses to hide the actual feelings some of you have for DB rather than say:
"Oh, I don't want change since I'm so used to this way for years. Therefore, my love and dedication to a particular aspect and the same people that I've been dealing with for years as made me feel weary about any change." ... Which some of you did something among those lines when you posted here and, to those, I applaud because they didn't use the cliche of "X smells and sucks" without any evidence or explanation, only thrown around in hope it will stick to the wall instead of saying straight out that they have feelings for something they have been working and having fun with for years. You know, obvious facades that serve no purpose instead to lose everyone's time to strip those thin paper/transparent facades and straight to the root of the issue.

No. To those that straight out said they would rather not have any sort of change because of their feelings for this specific server.. those deserve a hug and respect for being honest.
But for those, I'm sure most people have responded kindly that the DB you were once familiar with has been filled with non-RP'ers and gankers. The good memories you have.. they are memories and no one is going to take those away from you. Cherish them and try to replicate what you miss so dearly on new grounds. Even if the majority of the world around you may not understand your vision, there's always some that will. And to those, create a connection.
Everything comes to an end sooner or later, but it doesn't mean there won't be any more good times in the future on other places. It all depends on you and to those that you made connections with.
So cheer up, will you lovelies? The guild will be together even after this change (I'm assuming, for the sake of this post I'm writing, that you will indeed decide to go ahead with the transfer. It may never happen though!). Sure, those not within the guild and are on DB will.. stay behind. But it's their choice and they are free to follow your footsteps. Even if they decide not to, it's not the end of the world and you will always have way to communicate and do things with them. Sure, it is a little more limiting but, as many have said, it's a price.. and nothing comes for free. If the connection is strong, you will find ways to stick together with the people that you like.

I may seem highly supercilious when I type these kind of posts but know that I do not mean harm. My objective with these posts is to mentally prepare you for what may happen and to allow yourselves to broaden your horizons given that some of you have been on this server for years and nothing else. It's no wonder that you feel the way you are feeling now. Trust me when I say that I'm not "missing the point" when I type these things. I'm reaching out for those that may still think the things that I have mention thus far that I find absurd, even though they might not say it out loud (at least some of them).
To tell the truth, most of the time when these kind of things happen, I just stay back and watch the show unveil, taking mental notes and already using my intuition to determine what's going to truly happen and what's going to happen to that or other person. Curious when something unexpected happens and amused (or annoyed, depends) when it exactly happens just the way I predicted. Not that I take pleasure from drama, I do not. But I like to learn from afar.. study peculiar interactions and grow from the experience at the cost of people that are not willing to grow.

May I say that I find it cute that some of you only found out about AD and have come to certain conclusions just now?
Better late than never~

But yes, that screenshot is just an example of what awaits you.. and I've seen more numbers in the past on other events (mainly in all sorts of campaigns that last for weeks). Then again, quality over quantity but let's not get on our high horses, shall we?
Bad apples appear on every garden. Just bigger gardens have more apples, thus more variety and more room for bad seeds.

Again, why does a lot of people point fingers at the big country on the other side of the Atlantic and the large number of foul folk with their delusional thoughts that reside there? Because the country has a large population, which leaves more room for more fools. Though, if we look at things from a statistical point of view, it's about the same as any other country in the world. 10% of a thousand is always bigger than a 10% of a hundred.. but the point is that it's still 10% of a total number. But the Thousand will always be blamed as the one with a loud minority for having a "bigger" 10% compared to the 10%'s of small groups of hundreds.

What I'm saying is, expect a large spectrum of colors if you decide to go there.

Or short, DB's a village. AD is a city. I'm sure you can draw the parallels with these comparisons for one side has advantages over the other and vice versa.

More stuff for you to think about.. though I'm sure some of the minds on this guild have come to the same conclusion years ago, right?
QuoteAnd then there's the fact that sure there's more people on AD but half of them are either terrible or just trolls and lollers.
Oh..
Goldshire, the main spots of Stormwind and the area around Silvermoon's Bazaar should not count for that statistic since most "decent" (ugh, hate using that word) RP'ers on AD know where not to go. Good thing there's a large world out there and a million of opportunities to RP outside of those places, right?

100% in favor. Though, unfortunately, I lack â,¬ to do such change.
But don't worry. I have reached my character limit on Argent Dawn and I would not delete anyone to give room to Rokra to move. So, if you ended up transferring to AD (which I fully support), we would only meet with me not being an Orc   :D

I've said several times and people know my opinion thus far. But I guess it wouldn't hurt if I said it once again:
QuoteRP-PvP realms never made sense.. ever. No, I'm not talking about RP-PvP events, those are fine. I mean Role-Play servers with the PvP tag on it all the time. I know people like PvP and that's fine and dandy.
I like Ice Cream and Ketchup.. but you don't see me mixing both together, right?
In a perfect world, RP-PvP server would make sense IF all players on that server were RP'ers and PvP'ers. But alas, that's not the case. When PvP'ers (who don't RP) mix together with RP'ers, it ends in torture for the RP'ers who just want to have fun with their characters and, dare I say, RP and not go after that one bastard that killed you for no reason but to annoy you for a few (LONG) hours.
If you went to a RP-PvP realm and expected for there to be no grief.. then you were naive or don't know how the internet works. Nor is Blizzard going to protect you because you died on a PvP server (unless the people were really harassing but that's murky grounds).

You want PvP? Turn your "PvP on" on a non-PvP RP server. Or keep a character in a PvP realm and bring your RP characters to a non-PvP Server.

As for the whole "AD is shit compared to DB" talk.. do I really need to comment on that when others have (finally) concluded that's not the case? Yeah, not going to "waste my latin" on that mud flinging pride against "the community next door". I've heard that song plenty of times on a lot of things. From Post-by-Post RP'ers mud flinging to MMO RP'ers, from tabletop mud flinging to the tabletop next door, from MMO RP'ers mud flinging the guild next door and so on..

NOW, as for the "I have friends in DB" talk, I'm sure people have suggested Battle tag. It works fine last time I checked. They are your friends, right? So I'm sure you have their battle tag already.

*Phew* Anyway, I hope you Orcs make the right decision. I'll be pleased if you end up in AD. If not, well.. hope it goes well either way!

Applications / Application - Rokra Hammershock
March 18, 2015, 06:54:45 PM
Name: Rokra Hammershock
Class: Warrior
Level: 100

Tell us something about your (role)playing experience:
My Roleplay experience started in Wrath of the Lich King with a Blood Elf, short lived. From there, it escalated with me trying several types of races and backgrounds. Eventually, I also attempted other forms of mediums and even settings/universes.
Within the MMO genre, I've RP'ed on Warcraft (of course), Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars The Old Republic. On a post-by-post type of Roleplay, on a forum or private chats (Skype and so on), I've also tried the Sonic franchise, Pokémon, Shadowrun and so on (even tailored made settings). Though I never RP'ed on a MUSH, I also had a glimpse of that kind of environment on a setting created by fans of Megaman (I don't find that franchise fascinating at all, thus why I never went ahead and RP'ed there).

In short, I have been here and there. I've also was an administrator of a RP forum in the past, creating and world building settings from dust. My favorite part in RP is definitely investing on character progression/development, giving them a worthy personality. For me, plots and settings are only tools to create a good experience for a character. Rather than creating characters for the purpose of living in a setting, I use the setting as the means of telling a story about a character or more. Lore is important to me and never meant to be broken, thus a reliable tool to tell a story and connect with people that also abide by the lore.
If you feel the same way, I'm sure we'll get along just fine~

And finally, please write a short story and/or IC introduction about your character:
I could write down the whole background from my character.. but that would not be fair or diminish the fun of finding things out from an In-Character perspective. As so, I'll write one of the many stories she experienced when she used to live in the Barrens, in a remote outpost. This short story happened somewhere before the events of the Burning Crusade but a year after the death of Admiral Proudmoore, when Rokra was within her very late teens and early adulthood.

QuoteWithin the Barrens, along the road that connects the Crossroads and Camp Taurajo, a small outpost was located. A single watchtower, a inn and a great Tauren tent. Thus, a outpost composed of mostly Orcs and Taurens as an answer to Northwatch Hold.
There, a family of Orcs lived with the sole purpose of serving the Horde and managing to maintain a simple live without too much struggles. Rokra was no longer a child as she used to be. However, she had no real purpose in life but to train. Disappointed with her aunt life choices, the figure she looked up to as being this strong warrior, Rokra found that the only way she could be useful and maintaining an active lifestyle was to track down any sort of petty criminals or minor threats close by. With her own resources and the aid of her father, a blacksmith, she was able to be moderately successful. With a bounty here and there, she had enough to continue with her training with or without he aid of her aunt.
This is one of her stories during this period of her life...

Another morning, another day.
As part of Rokra's morning rituals, after getting herself ready for a new day, she went to the inn.

While very few people walk on this outpost, the inn was almost empty. A group of grunts having a drink during a break from their patrol mission were sharing a few laughs, true members of the Horde! Ordering a drink for herself, Rokra was there to hear the word and find an opportunity to test her own might with a bounty or a local disturbance. Motioning the bartender, one on which she knew for quite some time, Rokra asked if there was anything newsworthy. With a head shake, Rokra was doomed to have yet another dull day.

"Ha! Looking for something, girl?" smirked one of the grunts, tipsy this early of the day already. Apparently he had a vague idea of who Rokra was or maybe he was trying to make her look like a weakling in front of his own pals. Rokra was not used to this kind of treatment so often, though she knew it was unavoidable to happen now and then.
After a long pause and a blank stare towards the grunt, Rokra finally came with an answer for the fool that was still smirking and belittling her "Yeah. Looking for your dignity."
With the other three grunts laughing at her and her ridiculous comeback towards their own comrade, the fool chuckled loudly "Is that the best you got? Trying to insult my honor with a pathetic excuse of a comeback?". Afterwards, with a whisper from another grunt to this main figure, the orc rose from his seat clumsily, the bones from his neck cracking while he maintained that cheeky attitude towards Rokra. "You think you are something? You think you are more worthy than me, a warrior from the Horde? I'm from the Warsong Clan! Give some respect to the clan that freed us all!"
The other grunts stared down at Rokra, trying to inflict some guilt to her while they were also smiling or smirking. For them, she was nothing more than a joke. Rokra did not knew if she was stronger than them nor did she knew them well enough to learn about their own feats. Leaving the glass half full, she did not felt patient enough to deal with this kind of mockery. As such, she also rose from her seat.. except that she turned her back at them and was ready to walk off.
With a frown, the main grunt huffed, sitting down once again. The other grunts started to laugh loudly as a reaction to this poor show from Rokra, but the drunken orc raised a dismissive hand and shouted "Don't waste your breath on this one. Just another orc who thinks she's something, even though she was probably never in a real battle."

Rokra walked off the inn after that last sentence, never to learn what they said afterwards. They were right though. She never had been to war, though she heard and knew the consequences of one. Maybe someday she would had the chance to use her skills properly, as a warrior.
She eventually did a few years into the future, for her own gratification and honor... though with consequences.
