<Sky Pirates> flying round Azeroth, having adventures and stealing your treasure. Blood Elves, Orcs, Goblins (of course), a few trolls and the occasional Panda or Undead. Encourage members to be engineers and have flying machines rather than creature mounts. Work towards gathering mats to make rockets for people. All kinds of saucy, piratey, steam punky fun :D

Oh hell yes Akesha. Give. Can you add my btag? Mimerss#2343 ~ I know you're not creating this (probably) but if you don't mind I'd like to talk with you xD

I only really play occationally these days, but that might be because I'm not in a guild :)

I'll add you next time I'm on. Feel free to add me too Akesha#2406

You're absolutely correct. I've never played Republic Commando. I have no idea what Republic Commando is. I imagine it involves being a commando in some kind of republic :)

My point is Kronnor, if you want to play soldiers, there's already a squazillion guilds on AD in which you can do that. If it's just about continuing to play with existing friends, you could all just agree to join the same existing guild. If it's about making a new guild, then in a game as mature as WoW, it's just not going to succeed unless it fills a gap, offering new possibilities for rp

<The Court of Thorns> A renegade Blood Elf, exiled from Silvermoon, becomes the self-styled Duke of Thorns. Surrounding himself with the exiled, the outcasts and the dispossessed, he creates a court of undead, warlocks, rogue illidari and assassins in the Undercity, where he plots his revenge on the citizens of Silvermoon. Are they evil, deranged or just harmless freaks? Nobility in waiting, or simply bandits with delusions of grandeur?

I could do this all day :D

You'd have a better chance of success with an exciting an novel idea. They're already plenty of military types and warbands. I also think a clean break from OotRB with fresh new characters, created with the new guild in mind.

IMHO the biggest issue with rp in games like WoW is that people create a character they want to play, then try to shoehorn it in to whatever guild they choose. How much better things might be if it was the other way around. Decide on the guild you want to create, then make characters that fit that guild.

The hardest part is that elusive, exciting idea. Off the top of my head ...

That's the kind of brain storming you wanna do. I'm sure you can come up with lots of good ideas.

Isn't it true thatthe first thing everyone does with a Big Mac, is take the pickle out.

Disclaimer - I've not had a Big Mac since the 90s. I could be very wrong about this :D

Oh don't get me wrong, I liked how the tribe was not a warband bent on killing everything in a mindless "For the Horde" thing. I liked how the characters were three dimensional instead of being edgy killing machines. I guess what I was trying to say is that sometimes, not all the time but sometimes, I felt more like we were green humans instead of orcs.

The problem is Groshnok, that's kinda how official WoW lore portrays orcs these days. I honestly don't know why they bother having different races in the game.

I've always been of the opinion that rp doesn't have to stick rigidly to the lore. It's our game, we can make it what we want.

I agree with you that edgy killing machines are dull, but so are green humans. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I could write at length about what I think an Orc guild should be like, with the benefit of hindsight. You see, with hindsight, I think I did a lot wrong when I set up the guild and ultimately ended up not liking the guild I'd created. That's why I left all those years ago. I didn't like what I'd made, but lots of people did. Rather than trying to change things, and potentially alienating ever member of the guild, I left it in the hands of the people who liked it it the way it was.

They did a fantastic job of keeping that going.

I don't think anyone needs to feel attacked Arkail. We all like different things. I have my views on what the perfect Orc guild would be like and you have yours.

Btw, the idea of a military, mercy warband is just as unappealing to me as relic chasing, spirit worshippers is ;)

I've never really got into rp on Argent Dawn. I always get the impression though, that unless you want to play a human who thinks they're in Game of Thrones or a Belf, then quality rp can be hard to find.

I'll be honest, the more I learn about WoW lore, the less I like it. These days I just quest and level a few characters that I usually get bored of quite quickly. I've pretty much given up on rp.

I never said "simpleton" Kozzie. I hope Akesha never came across as stupid.

Anyway, I don't want any of what I said to come across as criticism. You guys kept a guild going for many years after most guilds have folded. That's a hell of an achievement and nobody can honestly say you were doing it wrong.

Sorry if I spoke out of turn.

I think you're right Kozzie. Having said that, this is kinda why I never felt at home in the guild in the last few years. OotRB had gone too far in the direction of orcs being lovely, cuddly, noble, spiritual types for my barbaric urges to cope with. It may be entirely in keeping with the lore, but it just wasn't what I think of when I think "Orc".

When OotRB started, we were warriors. We were violent killers who'd go out and kill elves for no other reason than killing elves was fun. I miss those days.

WoW has changed though (for the worst if you ask me). Too many stories about the Horde teaming up with the Alliance blah, blah etc. I may as well reroll Blood Elf because orcs have gone all wimpy.

By Red Blade remake I meant starting something new but with old Red Blade members that wish to do so, on their Red Blade chars or new ones. Maybe a warband? Or Horde military force? Mercenaries? We have plenty of options.

Ah, I see. Same people, different concept? That could work. All it takes is one person willing to step up and create it.

It may be worth pointing out that the only thing keeping people from bringing OotRB back, is themselves. A very small handful of players are still regularly logging on and have even RPed on rare occasion, but so long as no one else comes around regularly or shows any interest in actively wishing to bring the guild back, there will be no incentive for any manner of minority to make an active effort to bring the guild back up and running (you could ask for the reasoning behind this, but then I'd simply refer you to the discussion post that started this all).

Kozzie is correct of course. I don't know what's happened or why, but if people have lost interest there's no point in trying to continue in the same way. I think the only way that Red Blades has a chance is if there is some kind of radical shake up leading to renewed interest.

Personally I don't know if there is room on AD for two orc guilds. It feels like 90% of AD rp is Alliance and 90% of Horde AD rp is Blood Elf. Orc rp feels very niche. I could be very wrong though.

If anyone wants to try to continue OotRB, then do it with my blessing. I've no interest in trying to go back over old ground. I could be interested in doing something different though.

The Red Blade Remake will feature only Females, bad jokes and dismissal of all criticism.

Ouch!

IF and I really do mean IF, I did relaunch the Red Blades in some form, it would be very different. I'd make the guild I wish I'd made in hindsight.

Do I smell a Red Blade remake? *sniff sniff*

Remake the Red Blades? Is there really any appetite for that?

I've only just heard the news. Made me a little sad. Although I've not been part of the guild for many years, I've so many fond memories of its early years.

It's a hell of an achievement though, keeping a guild going for so long and, although I wasn't a fan of what the guild became, you guys should be so very proud of what you made.

I don't play WoW much at the moment, but that's due to my laptop being on its last legs and saving up for a replacement. I'm still very much enjoying being back in the game. I stopped playing Akesha, simply because it felt wrong that I had a character who's background was so tied in with a guild I no longer belong to. I've got an overwhelming urge to recreate her now so I may see you guys around.
