For those of you yet unaware (shame on you!), the home page is no longer an empty welcoming page that shows the latest forum topics. As of late, we've started adding articles to keep everyone up to date as to what goes on with the tribe. Make sure to check it out now and then!

Any updates will be reported in this thread. Additionally, you will be able to respond on any articles here, should you please. Do keep in mind that the formatting here isn't the same as it is on the front page due to the lack of html in forum messages, so if you want the read deal, check out the home page and leave a message here!

The wiki is back up!

Thanks to Sakareth, as well as popular demand, the good, old Red Blade wiki is up and running again! Make sure you check it out, and post your contributions on the right pages! If you need help making your own wiki entry, don't hesitate to ask on the forums for some help. Alternatively, you could simply click the "edit" button on any of the pages that have already been created, and copy someone else's formatting for great success!

Keep in mind that there may be a few hiccups, as there's yet a lot of work to be done about it, but the more contributions we can get, the sooner it'll look like a good and proper wiki, worthy of the tribe!

Check out the wiki here! (http://www.orcsoftheredblade.com/wiki)

Need help creating your own page? The Help page (http://www.orcsoftheredblade.com/wiki/index.php?title=Help:Contents) is there to help as well! It'll give you a hand on the more complex matters of wiki-ing, such as the infobox or pictures. Make sure you give it a shot if you're still unfamiliar with wikis.

In other news: Yes, the trailer is still being made. As soon as the Chief's laptop has been fixed and returned, the final cuts will be made! Make sure you stay tuned for any more future recordings! (Alternatively, you could always donate to the Chief so he can actually buy a decent computer.)

Kosh'harg!

The Lich King has been defeated, and the Alliance have been kept at bay. The borders are safe - for now - and so it's time for us orcs to see to what's just as important in life as keeping your homes safe: Honouring the ancestors.

The time of the Kosh'harg is upon us once again, and so it's time we start making our way to the ancestral lands to pay homage to our heritage! The coming 26th day of the ninth month, we set out to our sacred mountain, Oshu'gun, for celebrations to be held in its fields! Bring drinks and food alike! For this ain't the kind of celebration you will want to miss!

All orcs as well as loyal friends to us orcs will be welcome to come and sit, feast, and perhaps even tell a tale or two of glorious times passed! So come, you orcs! And bring any who be willing to share in the feast! And leave your ill intentions at your cave! There will be no room for hostilities or fights here, unless they're plain duels! No blood is to be shed on our sacred ground on such an occasion!

For the Blood of the Tribe!

A cataclysm upon us!

The Scourge has been defeated, our heroes of Northrend, under the command of the famed Garrosh Hellscream, have returned, the great halls of the Warsong Hold now largely empty, and their victories celebrated in Orgrimmar. But our struggle is an ever-lasting one. The lands of Durotar and the Barrens face an unnatural period of draught, and earthquakes rage across the lands as, for reasons yet unknown, the elements are restless. To make things worse, regular fires rage across the vulnerable, wooden city of Orgrimmar, shaman struggling to douse the rebellious sparks, and one of the greatest shaman of us all, Thrall, Warchief of the Horde, has decided to venture to his homeland, Nagrand, to seek aid in restoring the natural balance of this world.

In his absence, he has chosen his acting warchief to be Garrosh Hellscream, who has harvested a great amount of support from the orcish people with his many victories in the bitter north. While the Horde and the Alliance have agreed to a ceasefire following the death of the Lich King, tensions are uneasy as renegade bands of orcs harass caravans in Ashenvale, eager to find supplies for their starving families as the draught claims more and more of the wildlife available. It falls to young Hellscream to control his people, though his own intentions seem anything but peaceful. He, as well as many more orcs, strive to make a difference as they grow increasingly restless in their powerlessness against the raging elements. Though peace is often the way to prosperity, it is conquest that may well feed the many mouths of the people of the Horde.

For the Red Blade tribe, there is not a moment of rest. Borders are heavily patrolled, making sure the Alliance stick to their end of the bargain, and a war has been waged with the fearless centaurs. They, too, suffer the consequences of the restless elements as their spiritual communications slowly start to fail. Though they are eager to form renewed bonds with the Darkspear and the tauren, the tensions caused by the acting warchief are starting to pay their toll. Having sworn loyalty to the rightful warchief, they will follow Garrosh Hellscream into this new period of hardships. Question is, will the Horde prevail and perhaps even expand its reach across the realm? Or will the uneasiness within the Horde cause for ruptures that will be beyond repair? Regardless of the outcome, the Red Blade, as always, stand ready to ride.

The new trailer can be found here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-i7ItA8lqc)!

The drums of war echo over our lands once more. But we, the hated orcs, have danced to their rhythm for so long now. We fear no human, elf or dragon; our blades have drank their blood so many times before. See beyond your own solitude, shed whatever weakness that you carry. Hear instead the howls of the wolves, that call out to you. Be part of the hunt, share in the bond, and be one with the tribe.

With a low snarl, the wolf-masked orc peered to the female shaman. His visible features bore signs of grim resolve, as he watched the other orc paint her face with her own blood. They were surrounded by their kin, orcs of all kind of backgrounds and abilities. To the chieftain it mattered little what clan an orc was originally a member of, or if they chose to fight with bow or blade, or had devoted their skills otherwise. In the end, they all contributed to the tribe and as such to the Horde itself.

They were all bound to one another, by race, by duty and through the tribe by blood as well. All here lived, breathed and hunted together. They would go to war side by side, and eventually die like that as well. In the light of such brother- and sisterhood, the chieftain felt no fear of weakness as his gaze moved over the ranks of orcs surrounding him. His thoughts were interrupted by the shaman, as her mind and voice returned to the world of the still living.

”Blessed are we, by earth and ancestor. By fire and spirit. By water and unity. But the winds must sweep further, our message be spread.”

The shaman's words seemed true to some, that thoughtfully nodded their heads. Whilst others, in truth, seemed puzzled by the somewhat enigmatic message. The chieftain, however, narrowed his gaze. Because he knew that she was right. The Alliance had shown its fangs and claws, and a new – or perhaps old – menace had erupted from the depths of the world. They would need new orcs to join and let their individual strength be for the good of more. The chieftain's eyes rose, and met with those of a now grinning shaman.

”More blood and ale to be shared, my chieftain.”

RP Focus: Northern Barrens!

Mok-ra!

After having been dragged to the far corners of Azeroth, we are finally going home, orcs. Be it the bitter cold of Northrend or the putrid rott of the Plaguelands, we leave them all behind us as we all make our journey back to the Northern Barrens. To ensure that all orcs know where to find one another I've pinned a map next to this note. This should give you an idea where to go look.

However, do not think our hardship is over yet. Apparently the quilboar and centaur are rampaging across our land yet again, and to make matters worse, there have been rumors of cultists recruiting new acolytes. In short, we've got work to do if we want to secure our homeland. That' s why I call upon all orcs to return to the Northern Barrens at once! Report to the elders for tasks -- Grom knows there are plenty of them to fulfill!

So, make haste and march out. The fate of the Northern Barrens lie in our hands!

poibarrens2

For the Blood of the Tribe!
Chieftain Kozgugore Feraleye

(( The following weeks we'll be populating the Northern Barrens. This is a special kind of role-play focus, since if it turns out okay we'll be taking up permanent residence there. In other words, we'll then be returning to the Northern Barrens when we're not in a role-play focus elsewhere. And as usual, in order to make this RP focus a success, it is essential that you come to this zone as often as you can when you're looking for random rol e-play!

Elders will be handing out minor tasks to fuel that random role-play. They can usually be found at their ranks' mini-hub. For in stance, the Gosh'kar and Thur'ruk take up residence in the Wailing Burrow [see the map (I)] and the Nag'ogar and Rrosh-tul take up residence in the Den of the Brave (IV). In the course of the RP focus we'll try to get everyone acquainted with the various mini-hubs/hotspots that the Northern Barrens have to offer.

Keep in mind that elders may have other engagements, so here's a reminder that you are allowed and encouraged to create your own events as well (small or upscale, whatever you want!) if they cannot fulfill your RP needs. And most importantly, try to have a good time and take this opportunity to get some extra role-play! ))

The Kosh'harg returns!

For generations, we orcs have kept an ancient tradition alive in the shadow of the sacred mountain, Oshu'gun. When the Horde was formed, this tradition was soon forgotten. With the New Horde formed, and the way back to our homelands open once again, this tradition has been rekindled. Not only to remind us of the older days, long passed, but to show our young ones what it truly means to be an orc.

This tradition, is the Kosh'harg. Time upon time again, orcs have celebrated the joy of the living, as well as the peace of the honourable dead. Though formerly an exclusively orcish celebration, all allies are invited to take part in these festivities. Games, provings, storytelling, rituals and, of course, liquor and food will all be part of the celebrations!

On the eighteenth day of this month, the Red Blade tribe will gather on the docks of Ratchet to make the long voyage through the Dark Portal, and back towards the Land of the Winds. Any who wishes for some company on the long way there, or is unable to make the long trek by him- or herself, is welcome to join our pilgrimage. We will depart from the shores of Kalimdor after the eighth drum has been sounded.

Two days later, on the twentieth day of the third month, the pilgrimage will continue from Garadar towards the sacred mountain of Oshu'gun. There, our festivities will be held proper at the eighth drum. Be it orc or any other ally of the Horde, be welcomed to join us in the celebrations! Beware that all manners of violence are forbidden, and failure to uphold this will result in removal from the site of the festivities!

Hail to the Varog'Gor!

As of today, we have three brand new Varog'Gor to welcome into the tribe! After a long period of trials and trainings under the watchful gaze of High Blade Morgeth Feralheart, the following orcs have proven themselves worthy to stand by the Chieftain's side as both his personal bodyguard, as well as the effective claws of the tribe itself!

It was at the end of their many trials that they gathered on sacred ground and were blessed by the High Blade of our Thur'ruk, Mazguul Sharpeye, that they were inaugurated into the tight-knit society of the Varog'Gor. Make sure to congratulate them, next time you stumble upon them, and show some proper respect to the tribe's new Wolf Claws!

These orcs have been specifically chosen for this role because they have shown aptitude for these particular tasks. Want to know more about this rank? The wiki has, as always, more information on this prestigious rank, which can be found right here (http://www.orcsoftheredblade.com/wiki/index.php?title=Varog%27Gor)! Are you keen on searching for your own path within the tribe's ranks? Don't hesitate to speak with an elder about your own role within the tribe! Better yet, make sure you try to attend the upcoming Tournament of the Blades on the third of April! Even if you fear you might not possess the skill to conquer the title of the tribe's champion for yourself, it's a good chance all the same to show to every orc out there that you have what it takes to call yourself a true Red Blade!

Call of the clan

There was a time that orcs ruled half of the world. Doomhammer did. He managed to take an army far up to the capital of Lordaeron. There was almost nothing left to conquer. The world was his for the taking.

But Doomhammer is dead. His days of glory are gone. So now we live in difficult times. Times in which even fellow orcs have turned on each other, choosing to point their blade to their own kin, instead of their common enemies. We may have re-established our connections to the ancestors, but those of them who cry out for blood surely weep for what they see up to this day.

So, perhaps it is time to appease these spirits again. After all, the world is a place constantly in motion. What was once, might come once again. The Storms of Fate still favour the bold. After these many months of recovery after the great Shattering, it is time to help one another back on their feet, and prepare for the great march that lies ahead of us. Recent discoveries tell of a tale long lost. One that might tip the balance in the Horde's favour once again.

The horn is sounded, and all wolves of the pack are hereby summoned to gather around the fire once again. Take this chance to take in the opportunity to bring glory to clan and Horde once again! Call your brothers and sisters forth to join the rallying cry! With enough orcs by our side, we will once again stand a chance to return that which is rightfully ours, and to secure a homeland that is worthy of our ancestor's praise, and rich enough for our children's children to walk upon!

Summer campaigns and a new trailer!

The summer holiday may be upon us, but that doesn't mean there's a need to sit idle! The summer offensive has begun!

That means a summer of what we orcs do best: Enjoy a good bit of world-PvP in a series of campaigns, spread the might of the Horde into every corner of Azeroth, and have fun while doing it! Not a fan of PvP? Not to worry! We will have an RP focus in every corresponding area of the campaigns, where there will of course be plenty of room for normal RP as well. Not a member of the tribe? Not to worry either! We're, as always, open to receive allies and friends, be it to PvP along or to sit by one of our camp fires and share a drink or two. Suffice to say there's plenty of opportunity for RP if you would so like to have some!

Even if you happen to run a little late and aren't aware of whatever might be going on, a poster board has been set up on our forums in this very topic (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php/topic,2760.msg23422.html#msg23422), where you can keep track of the progress of our campaigns. Feel free to take a look! With a lot of thanks going to Gnash, who put all of this together, of course.

Still not convinced now would be a good time to come back? Over the past few months, we have been putting our green hands to good use to make a more representative promotional trailer for the tribe. Whether you're interested in green skins or not, feel free to take a look at our newest one down here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC7sPWVnkiM), in proper HD glory even!

Journey to Northrend

It had been a long journey. The tribe had set out from the harbour of Bilgewater Port in Azshara, where they had prepared and commandeered a vessel to bring them to the far reaches of the icy land of Northrend. Here, they would endure the harsh cold of Northrend for the next few weeks, in order to harvest resources and secure the lands for any other necessities the Horde required. Several days, they had spent on the sea. But at last, a cry came from the top of the mast.

“Land in sight!”

The orcs jumped to action, ending their meetings on a quick note as they prepared to make land. Chieftain Kozgugore Feraleye, in turn, made his way to the front of the ship, where Krogon Devilstep was keeping firm control of the ship’s wheel. As the Chieftain squinted his eyes northward, there was indeed a hint of land to be seen. It was tiny and vague, but definitely there. They slowly sailed closer, but whereas it became bigger, it became more clouded as well. It then started to dawn upon him; a fog was setting in on them.

“Be on the lookout, orcs! These mists have claimed many ships and orcs before us!”

The tribe opens its doors!

An invitation to all people of the Horde,

The Horde is a unity that has been formed for a common purpose: Survival. Orcs, tauren, trolls, goblins, elves and Forsaken; we all have our own reasons for being a part of this unity. In survival however, we are united. The Red Blade tribe has been a home for any and all orcs of the Horde for the past several years now, and is still a haven that provides shelter for any survivors of the Homelands that are willing to walk among their own kin.

A champion emerges!

The road to Northrend has been a tedious one. Fog and storms caused the orcs' ship to end up on the bottom of the sea. While some orcs struggled to get to shore, others were cast adrift and ended up in a different place entirely. What survivors that were able to regroup with one another would soon form the remnant of the tribe. Through cooperation and hard work, they managed to make camp and eventually found their way back to Camp Winterhoof. Under the shelter of the Horde's allies, the Taunka, the tribe managed to recuperate and even find other orcs that were still missing. With the tribe back to its former strength, it carried on to the Grizzly Hills. After a brief detour to take care of the hills' eastern shore, it soon continued further inland, to the safety of Conquest Hold.

The search continues

Several weeks have passed since the orcs have left familiar ground and have begun venturing to the far south. Through the Barrens they have ventured, and then trudged through the muddy swamps of Dustwallow. There, the road led further south, where the tribe was halted by the sight of a flooded Thousand Needles. Thankfully, the gnomes and goblins of Fizzle and Pozzik's Speedbarge managed to provide a temporary home for the soaked and tired orcs.

A New Red Dawn

The world is changing. Within months of Pandaria’s discovery, the full military might of the Horde and Alliance war-machines have borne down on the previously-tranquil land. Spiked iron fortresses and reinforced stone citadels have sprung up about the jungles of Krasarang and plains of Kun-Lai. Lush forests are harvested by orc and human alike, their trees used to feed the fires of industry. Grimy makeshift factories constantly churning out war-machines and weaponry. While some natives hold to their neutrality, many of the races of Pandaria have already been forced to take a side as the war intensifies.

Story Competition

North of the Blade's Edge Mountains. West of the Fields of Farahlon. Treacherous sleet and numbing frost beneath a stirring blood-red sun. Land all but surrendered to the monstrous mountain giants, brutish ogres and fierce worgs of Magoth's pack. Land that no Warlord had claimed - land that no Warlord could claim. This desolate, wild land was set aside for the remnants of mighty Githya's battle-hardened warband - the frozen wasteland would have claimed them all within weeks had they not been made of sterner stuff.

Tribe on the Run!
Imprisonment. Tension. Courage. Treason. Exile. Honor.

Imprisonment. Despised for his principles and maligned for his tribe’s autonomy - Kozgugore Feraleye would soon fall foul of the increasingly-brutal Kor’kron. After refusing an order to raze a neutral pandaren settlement to the ground, the Chieftain of the Red Blade tribe would be jailed beneath Orgrimmar, awaiting execution as an example to all who could not obey Hellscream’s ruthless iron rule.

Civilized orcs, young and old alike, of the Horde: A dying breed. SISTAs are taking down the Patriarchy!

Thanks to the oppression of the patriarchy, the Horde has once again found itself in a valley of poverty and despair. Ever since the judgemental, cisgendered male orcs have usurped civilization since the rise of the Horde, nothing but loss and dishonour has followed in its wake. From Ner’zhul and Blackhand to Thrall and Garrosh: For too long has the female orc had to stand by in the shadows while the male heterosexual orc stood dominant over an ever-structuring society.

Journies of Draenor

What started out as a distress call turned out to be so much more. A violent attack on Garadar left threads in an image of otherwise simple tranquility. Threads that the tribe picked away at. Their hunt on the Mag'har orcs who had been taken away led them across the wilds of Draenor, first to their hunt into the Blades Edge Mountains, where they dethroned the ogre Warlock king Garht'Nug, pursued him back to Nagrand and there stole from him an enchanted Eradar skull.

Beyond the Dark Portal

The Red Blade tribe made war upon the Iron Horde within days of their emergence from the Dark Portal. Alongside their Horde allies, they proved instrumental in the attempt to hold back the seemingly unstoppable Iron Tide threatening to wash over Azeroth.

The tribe’s victories were both few and pyrrhic, and its defeats both humbling and costly. An initial foothold in Okril'lon Hold was quickly retaken by the relentless Ironmarch elite, leaving the tribe to lick its wounds while formulating a desperate all-or-nothing suicide mission. Only with the combined efforts of the Banners, the Ironbreaker Council and the ground-forces of both Horde and Alliance, was a route hewn through the Blasted Lands and through the Dark Portal.

Somewhere off the jagged, snowy shores of Frostfire Ridge, commandeered Iron Horde warships ran aground. From their grim decks came ragged refugees from the Battle of Tanaan — native Frostwolves, enslaved by the Iron Horde; and the remnants of the Azerothian Horde vanguard, including the proud Red Blade tribe.

Rise of the Wolfking

After weeks in search of their heritage upon Draenor, the Red Blade tribe began to uncover clues about the whereabouts of the historic Clan Redblade, their ancestors.

They encountered the spirit of a slain Nag’Ogar during a Spirit Walk, and avenged him by slaying the ogre who killed him and desecrated his remains. They charted out the Shamanstones of the Frostfire tundra, believing early cultures developed around these powerful monoliths. And finally, with the garn-packs of the western ridges growing bolder and causing havoc, the tribe looked to its storied past for answers.

No Laughing Matter

The Red Blade tribe barely weathered the inhospitable wastes of Frostfire, and were all too keen to escape its frigid, frozen tundras. They would find little solace however, in the tropical jungles and arid buttes of Gorgrond.

Yet their cunning and ferocity would be tested before they even reached the jungles — an ingenious stratagem was hatched to safely blaze a trail through the Thunder Pass and out of Frostfire Ridge.

At Last, Avast!

For ten years, Orcs of the Red Blade have provided an authentic orcish tribal roleplay experience. But even time-tested concepts must evolve, and after weeks of consultation and brainstorming amongst the officer-team, I am proud to reveal a bold shift in our long-term direction. So ahoy, strike yer colors and fire at will, ye scurvy swabs, for the Red Sail crew are ready to set sail!

Between A Rock And A Kosh'harg Place

In past years, the Red Blades came to see their biannual Kosh’harg celebrations in Nagrand as something of a reprieve. A safe haven amongst Outland’s more dangerous and corrupt regions, the Land of Winds was a home away from home. Orcs would tell tales around the Garadar campfire, spar at the Ring of Trials, hunt the majestic talbuk and mighty clefthoof of the land...

On Tuesday the 9th of June 2015, Orcs of the Red Blade are moving to the Argent Dawn RP realm after just under ten years on Defias Brotherhood RP-PvP. Trailer Throwback Tuesday

As a little look back on the many years we've been active, we invite you all to take a look back at the rich history the guild has to offer! While not a piece of in-game lore per say, we've had our fair share of video material over the years. Some of which are, of course, the tribe's famed trailers! The one to officially kick it off (not including some other video footage that was not originally meant to be as trailers), was this very one back in 2010! Low youtube quality? Check! Shoddy editing? Check! No cheesy voice-overs? Check! Lots of orcs and awesomeness? Check! See how many old faces you recognize!

Member Spotlight: Rhonya

We've had some amazing members in our guild over the past few years and every now and then, they deserve a little extra time in the spotlights! Who the most obviously choice to deserve some special recognition might be, you ask? Rhonya Steelheart, AKA Kyrazha Throatrender, of course! Not only is she one of our most active and longest members, she's someone virtually everyone in the tribe knows! How well do you think you know her? Read on and perhaps you'll find out a few things you didn't know just yet!

Slay Your One Hundred!

The Tribe is changing for the better. This day, this year marks a massive change in the way we do things going forwards. Sick of whining little pups that spend their days moaning by the campfire getting drunk? Tired of “stupid dramatic actions” that bring nothing to the Tribe apart from separate us, cause rifts and frankly just give us a bad rep through the Orcish community? Then this; this is news for you!

Previously, we had Rhonya shining in the Member Spotlight due to her long-standing service to the guild. The obvious next choice after her? Her IC cousin and real-life partner, Srelok Grimtide of course! While not a member for quite as long as Rhonya is, Srelok has nonetheless proven to be just as much an integral part of the guild's structure with his involvement not only as a present-day Thur'ruk and officer, but also as an individual within the community itself. So today, we get to have a look behind the scenes of one of the tribe's more dramatic and yet empathic characters!

Recruitment is open!

As part of some of our ongoing changes, applicants to the guild no longer have to undergo a lengthy application process by filling in an application form on our forums and awaiting approval. Instead, anyone interested in joining up with us is invited - and encouraged - to simply seek out any of our officers or contacts in-game (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=2440.0) at whatever time they please and set up an IC meeting. Of course, be wary of our current in-game location so that you can plan your in-game voyage accordingly. Other than that however, we hope to see you seeking us out in-game soon, be it for a regular visit or for a more permanent stay!

Trailer Throwback Tuesday

While our newest trailer is only one year old, did you know our second-newest trailer is already six years old as of this year? There was a five-year gap between the two, but apart from the new character models and environments, one might not necessarily be able to tell! While there are certainly improvements in the newest trailer in terms of camerawork, sound and editing, this previous trailer can still be considered a fair representation of the present-day guild.

Trailer Throwback Tuesday

While one would think we're slowly running out of trailers to showcase, there are in fact some very old clips of the good, old tribal life taken as far back as ten years ago! One such example is this little movie, once made by former Red Blade Yorla. Though primarily just made for fun, it still showcases the tribe from a time long forgotten in a - to say the least - fun and playful way. See how many old faces you can recognize!

The Legion Comes

Smouldering embers, broken infernals, dead orcs and broken structures: the Burning Legion had made its mark on Splintertree Post following the short yet brutal siege they laid to it and its occupants. Where the orcs of the Red Blade thought they had slowly gained the upper hand in warding off the demon threats lurking in the northern forests, a sudden yet decisive strike ended any and all notion of that. They fought tooth and nail to ensure the Post would remain standing, but they did so at a price. The entire attack turned out to be one big, elaborate distraction which allowed infiltrating Satyrs to sneak in through the back and pillage through their supplies.

As you may already know, Orcs of the Red Blade is currently on an indefinite hiatus. Web hosting, domain registration and other costs associated with the website are difficult to justify in the present climate, and the OotRB website, forum and all associated content will be taken offline when funding runs out in just a few short months. As a thank you to our most loyal and active forum members, we’ve decided to commemorate this inevitable process in a unique and memorable way.

From the Ashes, Arise a Clan
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/campaigns/Return7.png)

The deed has been done. The Burning Blade remnants have been defeated and, in the face of adversity, the Red Blade has arisen anew as a unified clan. Following the teachings of the Great Wolf Akashok and his pantheon of Great Spirits, the clan will move forward into a new era. Though now a clan, outsiders who hail from other clans will still be welcomed as they always have. After all, it has long been among the traditions of the Red Blade, even in the times of the Old World, that clan blood would be mixed with those of others considering its rooted history as a war band from the apocryphal times of Draenor. As a result, outsider clan customs or traditions may continue to be upheld, so long as none of these conflict with those of the Red Blade clan. Not only will the Red Blade be a place of tradition and spiritualism, but it will also be a place of unification for orcs who hail from all different banners, to stand together underneath a single colour.

The Road to Battle for Azeroth
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article01.png)

The end of another expansion is upon us, with the beginning of a whole new one to come! Looking back, Legion has been a bit of a strange expansion for us. It started with a multitude of phasing issues on the Broken Isles, which in part resulted in the guild's ultimate hiatus. It ended, however, with the guild's return in a bigger and better way than it's ever seen before!

Though the concept may have been upgraded, the guild's members and its atmosphere remains just the same as ever before: open-minded and welcome to all newcomers! This is a trend we hope to continue leading up to the very end of the Legion expansion, as well as the entirety of Battle for Azeroth to come. Our recruitment will remain open, but at the same time, we will make renewed efforts to bring back the immersive, grandiose campaigns that we started this reboot off with. The centerpiece of these campaigns will be one particular word:

Chapters!

It's not a bad idea, but I'm a bit hesitant to advertise any guild-related stuff on the general RP forums nowadays. They don't really seem to be used for recruitment purposes any more these days, so rather than to butt anyone in the head with rampant advertising, we'll just have to settle for the realm forums, I think. Besides, we're in a pretty good place member-wise right now, so we're not in a desperate recruitment drive right now anyway. :)

New Great Spirits Uncovered

It has been mere months since the tribe has reformed into the mighty Red Blade clan and has found guardians to be watching over them once again. What they did not know, however, was that there are more patrons watching over the clan, some even new to the pantheon of Akashok himself. In recent discoveries, the Thur’ruk of the clan have been digging deep into the lore of the clan and have uncovered a few more of those guardians of the Red Blade. Due to their discovery, they have started to work their ways into the dreams of the orcs, to let themselves be known to the clan and that they are watching over them.

A great discovery has shaken the very foundations of the clan's spiritual beliefs! Enlighten yourself on the front page! (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/)

Akal
Guided by the element of air, Akal, named after Akala for her connection to fertility, ushers in vast amounts of positive energy. The coming of Akal often marked the beginning of the spring festivals for the orcish clans as they would celebrate the coming of fertility and growth and venture to new hunting grounds. Through the breezes and tides, Akal carries with it a season of spiritual growth as well as a time in which to celebrate life and the new season.

Mor'vaul
Mor'vaul, or 'Midyear', marks the beginning of Summer and the hunting season that follows in its wake. With the first half of the year passed, Mor'vaul offers a time to reflect on what has been and what is yet to come in this year. Goals that have not yet been met should be re-evaluated, so that any dormant ambitions may be reawakened once more. In addition to striving for vitality and fertility for the hunts that are to come, steps should be made to strive for that which was previously too high an accomplishment.

From the Annals: Blood of the Varog'Gor
(http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s148/Lemonpie39/OotRB/VarogGor.png)

With Okiba's story competition (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=4691.0) in full swing, this month is the perfect opportunity to be reminded of the vast amount of lore and background stories this guild has collected over the years of its long existence. In between the monthly newsletters and Member Spotlights (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=4254.0), we'll be regularly taking a look back into the history of the Red Blade's stories and see what its creative members, both former and present, have written in our new format, "From the Annals". By taking these stories out of the depths of our website, they'll get some well-earned, renewed exposure for members who may not have been around at the time to see the conception of the story at the time.

To kick this series off, I've selected one of three stories regarding the clan's most influential ranks: The Rrosh-tul, Varog'Gor and Thur'ruk. Back when these ranks were first created, Morgeth (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=3926.0) helped give these ranks a bit of spice by providing a background story for each one of them. These stories hearkened back to the time of Clan Redblade back on Draenor and illustrated the conflict they had with another fictional clan, the Bloodmaw clan. All three stories can be read in the Ranks: A history of blades thread (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=2444.0), but below is the story she wrote about the Varog'Gor. A story that perfectly captures the feeling of the Varog'Gor, the responsibilities they have and the culture that exists around them. I was very happy with the stories at the time, and feel they're a perfect representation even now, eight years later!

Gorosh

Named in honor of the element of fire, Gorosh, Fire's Heart, marks the warmest time of year when the sun reaches its zenith. In addition to Gorosh being the month in which the element of fire is at its strongest, it is also the month in which animal spirits begin to appear more freely and may become more common to encounter. Additionally, this period of the year is an ideal time to set out into the wide world, nurturing adventure, wildness and freedom.

Kil'gund, the Month of Stars, is the month when the skies of the orcs' Old World would be the clearest of the entire year. This made it an ideal time for seers and shamans to read the stars and foretell what events will unfold in the coming years. Furthermore, it is a time when traditionally many competitions would be held, a chance to gain pride and honor in times of peace.

From the Annals: Time Capsule
(http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/6a00d8341c586153ef017ee9e8cf42970d-800wi_zpscfa58220.jpg)

With everyone fully focused on the release Battle for Azeroth as we speak, the guild has taken its customary two week hiatus at the beginning of the new expansion to allow its members to freely explore the new content at their own pace. This has become the norm in the guild since the release of Wrath of the Lich King, making it a bit of a guild tradition by now.

To justify the two week IC silence however, the guild has often had to come up with some manner of excuse to explain why things are silent over the course of two weeks. Since new expansions often take place on new islands or continents, it's easy enough to justify the silence with a convenient shipwreck (and as such, the clan has become a little notorious for its lousy skills in commandeering ships). An exception to this was Warlords of Draenor however, when the guild was preparing itself for a charge through the Dark Portal into the Iron Horde's world that was suspected to be a suicide mission they would never come back from. To leave a little something behind for the inhabitants of Azeroth that the orcs were laying their lives on the line for, Sadok Sharptongue (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=3787.0) decided to come up with the idea of a time capsule (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=3641.0) during the tribe's stay in Stranglethorn Vale. Every orc would deposit a little personal something into a secured lockbox that would withstand the test of time, to then be deposited into the soil of the jungle for later generations to one day find. The result was a very touching and emotional event, where we got to see a lot of personal touches and references towards other orcs and past members!

Dha'karth
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Dha'karth, Earth's Gift, is a month of offering and receiving. With winter approaching, clans that rely on the gifts of the earth such as fruits and seeds take this chance to give thanks to the element of earth to secure its blessing and to harvest as many supplies for the winter months to come. It is also the month of the autumnal equinox, traditionally the date of the second Kosh'harg festival of the year.

Aka'Vrull
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Aka'Vrull, War's Blessing or Blessing of Vrull, marks the end of the agricultural season for those few clans who actively practice the art of culturating land. More importantly to most other clans however, it also marks the traditional end of military campaigns as the weather grows too unfavourable to maintain active military efforts. As a result, tribute is paid to any spirits or patrons of war for the victories won that year. This is often done by sacrificing animals or trophies of the defeated enemies. Or, aeons ago, sacrificing captives of the enemies themselves...

From the Annals: A (Crude) Orcish Drinking Song

Kosh'harg is nearly upon us again, which is a great time for tall tales and songs! One thing that has always struck me, however, is how few in-universe songs we actually have. Both from Blizzard as well as player-made, particularly orcish songs are quite scarce. Luckily, we did have the creative spirit or two join us every now and then, and Mazguul (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=3847.0) was certainly one of the most creatives ones you would find out there! During her time as Thur'ruk in the distant past, she wrote a fair few songs that may or may not have been inspired by other game songs. Granted, the following may be a little bit on the lewd side for some, but it's definitely her magnum opus among the ones she shared with us. I present to you, the Quillboar Song (http://orcsoftheredblade.com/forum/index.php?topic=2636.0)!

Ankathar
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Ankathar, the Ancestor's Tide, is the first month of the dark months of winter. As an opposite to the time of light and fertility in the first half of the year, death and darkness play a key role in Ankathar. The ancestors are remembered and honoured, and preparations for the coming winter are made.

Nath'lok
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Nath'lok, the Long Night in the traditional orcish tongue, marks the end of the year and the centre of the winter season. A great emphasis lies upon the reflection of the past year and the preparation for the next, as orcs are ritually cleansed of their deeds from the previous months and make offerings to the spirits for a prosperous year to come. Among some clans, it was once the month when some of the most ancient (and sometimes most taboo) rites and traditions would be practiced, such as the worship of the Pale Lady in the sky.

Kor'batar
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Water's Tide, or Kor'batar, marks the beginning of a new year. Traditionally known as the time of shifting tides of Draenor's seas, it is also a time of new beginnings, endings and transitions. Guided by the element of Water, Kor'batar is known for particularly strong currents and an ideal time to commune with the elements of water. It also offers a fresh start to those orcs who seek one, often accompanied by sober eating habits and meditation.

Vosha'gur
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Honored brothers and sisters,

Some say we are exiles from our own home. That we are fools to abandon Orgrimmar to its present fate. That we are traitors to the Horde. However, some also say that discretion is the better part of valour. That it is better to live to fight another day. And that you should not believe everything that people say.

You choose what you wish to believe. But there is no reversing the sun or casting the die anew. The way things are now, is the hand we are dealt. I choose to believe that betrayal to one's moral codes and beliefs is far worse a crime than to betray a Warchief absent morals or dignity. Our clan's Code is ever clear on such matters; there is no misinterpreting what it says of chiefs who are found unworthy and allies who are found undeserving.

And so we have set upon the road for the time being. Come what may, we will stand with the Whiteclaw Communion as we bide our time for a better future. That future begins with our pilgrimage to Mount Hyjal for the revered Wolf God Lo'gosh. We may not end up sharing the road with the rest of the Whiteclaws forever. But for now, our paths are intertwined. Ensure to look after our allies as you would your fellow brother and sister, for unity is more important than ever before in times such as these.

For the Blood of Redblade,
Kozgugore Feraleye

Karoshgoth
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Honored brothers and sisters,

After some arduous weeks of setting upon the path and beating back enemies left and right, the time has come at last to unwind in one of two most treasured times of the year: the Kosh'harg festival. This season's Kosh'harg is bound to be an incredible undertaking, as we have made grand plans to make up for the world of excrement we have had to suffer over the past season. Now more than ever, we have earned this respite from discord.

In order to make it so, however, your help is required. Make sure to offer any aid you are willing to lend to any of your fellow orcs who intend to put their backs into the organization of this Kosh'harg. There are yet some of us out there who might still be in need of volunteers, so ensure to do your part if you can spare any hands. Even if it be for a single day.

Having said that, however, there is one order above all others that I seek to give to you this month: enjoy. Feast. Celebrate. And give thanks the ancestors for the strength of the pack as well as their support in the times that lie ahead. A new day dawns after the long night has at long last ended. It is a day that is ours for the taking.

For the Blood of Redblade,
Kozgugore Feraleye

Return of the Gul'thauk

The Gul'thauk were, in the old Red Blade Tribe, among the most feared and mysterious Orcs the tribe had to offer. With initiation rites unknown to the surrounding world, they were tested and hardened relentlessly, in hopes of creating the most mentally strong and cunning Orcs to ever walk Azeroth. To a degree, it was successful. The ranks of the Gul'thauk were once booming, and they were a formidable force of outcasts, rogues, and outlaws that sought their place elsewhere than the other two paths that the Red Blade had to offer, lead by the Varog'Gor; the most elite bodyguards of the Chieftain himself.

Ish'Magor
(http://orcsoftheredblade.com/images/news/article_divider2.png)

Honored brothers and sisters,

A memorable Kosh'harg has concluded the past month, in no small part thanks to each of your very own efforts. I wish to both congratulate as well as thank you all for contributing to a very successful festival all around. May it be a worthy reminder of what the Horde stands for... as well as good practice for future festivals to come. For we can only eclipse it at this rate!

A joyous month has now come to an end, however. Instead, we must look to what lies ahead. With increasing reports of border incursions from the Alliance, it now falls to us to see to the defense of our homelands. We may not have chosen this war, but there is no reversing the sun. Remain ever-vigilant of threats to the safety of our people, both within and outside of our lands. We are, after all, ever-surrounded by a world of enemies. It is times like these during which we temper not only our blades, but our spirits and our resolve as well.

For the Blood of Redblade,
Kozgugore Feraleye

15 Year Anniversary

It's 9 October 2020, which means that the guild is officially 15 years old! To celebrate the occasion, we asked all of our members to speak a few words on why they are still in the guild, what they like about it, their favourite moments and whatever else came to their mind! Though the answers were all given on Discord, a thread has been made with a compilation of everyone's comments and screenshots on the forums here, so go on and have a look to see what members both old and new wanted to share! Here are a few highlighted comments to give an idea of what our members had to say:

A Tribute to Kulgha

It is with great sadness on this Christmas day that we need to share the news that one of our members, Kulgha (also known as Karhla), has passed away last week on the 17th of December.

Kulgha had been battling with her illness for some time now, but her optimistic and helpful nature was an inspiration to all of us. She was warm, kind and always giving, and even when she felt poorly, she led events at the Kosh’harg. It’s no surprise, then, that she made many great friendships both in our community as well as outside of it. Which is why I feel we had to share this news a little more publicly as well.

Many of us had a plethora of treasured memories from our RP with Kulgha, who was always fully committed to something once she had a great idea, such as being the clan’s wolf handler. Out of character, too, she had a massive heart and was truly a great person to be around. Several times, she reached out to me when I was in a rather bad spot myself, and I know I’m not the only one for whom she did so for that matter. She truly cared for people, even when barely knowing them and having far worse things on her own mind what with everything that life threw at her.

Aka’Magosh to a wonderful person. You will be sadly missed, Kulgha. The world and Azeroth will be a poorer place now that you’re not in it.

Many thanks to Durgrol for sharing this news with us.

Spreading the Word: Our Own Twitter Page

Throughout the 16 years that Orcs of the Red Blade has been around, a lot has changed not only in World of Warcraft, but on the internet itself as well. One such things is how people stay in touch with one another and how social media can help keep people informed. Unfortunately, our trusty, old website has seen less traffic and updates over the years despite the guild remaining alive and well, primarily due to platforms such as Twitter and Discord taking over the role of old-fashioned forums.

To stick with the times, Orcs of the Red Blade now has its own, "official" Twitter channel upon which regular updates will be shared about events, artwork or other shenanigans and hijinks involving our orcs!

Keep up with our adventures at https://twitter.com/VerzanSkywise (https://twitter.com/VerzanSkywise)!

Orcs of the Red Blade Enter the Metaverse!

Orcs of the Red Blade has always striven to be at the forefront of the newest developments in the world of roleplay. Now, on April 1st 2022, we are pleased to announce our next step to help propel WoW RP into the future: Straight into the Metaverse!

As of today, ORB is embracing Web 3.0 technology by introducing its own cryptocurrency: The Shrewdcoin! Based on the clan’s most illustrious canine, the Shrewdcoin opens the door to a slew of possibilities that will benefit not only ORB’s stakeholders and other GMs who stand to gain from a monetized roleplaying experience, but also the roleplayers themselves in experiencing a new era of self-expression and self-idolization!

Along with Shrewdcoins, we will be introducing our very own non-fungible tokens: The Nominal Orcish Proprietary Effect! NOPEs will be obtainable exclusively with Shrewdcoins and for its first drop will allow you to own your very own piece of Red Blade history in the form of a representation of Chieftain Kozgugore Feraleye’s iconic costumes from throughout the years! These Chieftain avatars, acutely nicknamed “Kozzitars”, will sell for .0666 Shrewdcoins ($0.0009 at the time of writing), plus transaction fees.

For our first release, we will be selling 250 NOPEs in our first drop for a collection that will ultimately reach no less than 500,000 NOPEs. Those who purchase multiple NOPEs will have a chance to win exclusive prizes, such as being featured in the guild’s Message of the Day or becoming the guild’s GM (Chieftain) for a day.

In a first reaction, ORB’s GM Kozgugore had this to say:
Quote
“I truly believe NOPEs and Shrewdcoins will set off a new era of IP creation, community development and roleplay monetization. Shrewdcoins will be a revolutionary way to introduce the “play to earn” concept that people have become so excited for into more households, while NOPEs will be the ultimate form of self-expression.

I believe that these new technologies and concepts will provide us with numerous opportunities to enrich people’s lives through digital entertainment, which is at the core of our guild. We remain committed to creating, developing, and providing world-class content, and we will contribute to the happiness of society and its people by offering new forms of excitement. With Shrewdcoins and NOPEs, I truly feel we are one step closer to fulfilling our original mission of enriching the Metaverse with the introduction of more Orcish customs and practices.”
The future is very meta, the future is very verse! Stay tuned for more announcements as Shrewdcoins and NOPEs will branch out for guild ranks, ancestral favours, two-second GIFs from our guild trailers, Verzan Skywise’s first ever Tweet, digital spots around the campfire and much more!
