Title: Music education
Post by: Kozgugore on December 11, 2007, 09:25:32 PM
Sort of a new Loial's Corner I suppose.

Some Led Zeppelin will do you greenskins some good! Some clips of their reunion (10/12), to be exact.

Go check them out if you want the only and real deal. I heard rumors Youtube is removing videos due to copyright poop or something, so get them while they're hot. You should. Now!

Good Times, Bad Times
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsHcUwtw5H0

Kashmir
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZxukPZ0pjA

No Quarter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipbM_9KG-yQ

Rock and Roll
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WQLB03euTXQ

Stairway to Heaven
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G_JTMuHOQk

There's a whole lotta more out there, but these are the best I could find quality-wise.

Rock will live on forever! \,,/

Although i prefer the more Extreme-metal part of Music such as Death Metal and Black Metal etc. I do appriciate alot of the Old-school rock'n'roll.
King of the world: ELVIS PRESLEY! :D

And i prefer those Extreme-metal types because of the speed on the music, but mostly because of the DRUMS! I love double base drums as i'm a drum fan. By thrall i wish i had drums  :'(

Yes I would, if I could, I surely would

Away, I'd rather hack away
Chop off stinking flappie heads
A humie, hacked to tiny bits
We are the orcs

I'd rather have the bloodlust than some wine

I'd rather go to war with my whole tribe

Music education and this vid has not been posted? For shaaame. ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDtdQ8bTvRc

Just a shame that it's an outdated map. ::) But what the heck...the Animaniacs songs are worth being made known. Can't get enough of this, or their Magellan or Senses songs.

And funk didn't die in the 70s. :( It just transferred itself from bands onto videogames!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2688f7egWSY

Then again, I always did preffer rock the most, that & true. Currently play in a band and I have to say that the Foo Fighters are probably the ones most like us, at least when it comes to how much they love parodying stuff on their videos (like soap operas and such...that's RIGHT up our band's ante :D )

But not to link them again, what other types of rock do I like? Classical rock - can't beat Queen I s'pose.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cowJVBnMEqE

Hard rock. The end of the 80s and beginning of the 90s...man...no rock and roll ever came close to this until some of the members of such old bands began to reform recently as Audioslave and Velvet Revolver...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlzptZ9wieQ

But then I do admit that the late 90s rock was interesting as well when it came to a few bands. Like this one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5NAQBn7N_k

And for the grand finale I, of course, couldn't claim to be part of a band if I didn't have a music video of it on Youtube already. And luckily for you it's in broken up german so you don't have to translate from slovenian! \o/ And no, I'm not the guy who gets all the chicks - that's my brother. ;) I be the first one to come out of the right side, at the start when we're being all suave an' sexeh, wearing the red and white shirts.

A recent research I did showed that people who listen to metal (in any forms) are stupid. On the other hand, people that listen to jazz and funk are the smartest in the world. The study was based on my classmates.

And as I am the smartest in my class I of course listen to both jazz and funk.

So, an example of Funk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is-6SfGzZlU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is-6SfGzZlU)
and an example of jazz (smooth one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-mjdxNuhw4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-mjdxNuhw4)
and another example of jazz (old jazz) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONDr4zau53c (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONDr4zau53c)
and yet another example of jazz (new, experimental jazz) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew0Hs7-hX6E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew0Hs7-hX6E)

and then, if you want another intellectual point you of course have to listen to Simon and Garfunkel, if you are unfamiliar with them I strongly recommend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTGDZ1-zOaE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTGDZ1-zOaE) for their more "happy" songs or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRF0T9abxQA&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRF0T9abxQA&feature=related) for a more "sad" tune

Hope to convert at least one of you guys. Just as Koz turned me to the path of ZZ top!

So im stuuupid now huh? Ah, i think you classmates not the best focus group to research. From my experience, many of jazz/blues/funk lovers are just elitists jerks.
Hrm. But i know many idiot metalheads as well. But them are just retarded kids.

But im not stupid! I also love classical music, old rock'n'roll, folk and ambient! Me be smartie urk!

for those who didn't get that... it was a joke... and I suppose I am an "elitists jerk" :P I wasn't really serious... as I have listened to metal for most of my teenage life until just a few weeks ago :) so I would change from stupid to smartest in the world in two weeks? naah... don't think so :P

I enjoy:

Progessive Rock
Classic Rock
Orchestral
Psychedelic Rock
Blues
Soul
Reggae
Industrial Metal
Most things Acoustic (bar mindless chord strumming)
SIDmetal (:D)
Crossover
Electronic

But genres are so black and white these days. Having said that. I catagorically detest all forms of "Jungle" "Garage" and almost all Drum & Bass.

And old Funk stuff from the 80's  not this no talent new stuff.

Well any thing realy as long as it good music.

I dislike in the most part but there are exceptions
The whole "Garage"  Dance, Floor fillers, Rap of ANY type.
Other peoples hard work where they just take samples and mash it together rip it off stuff.

I like:

Jazz
Blues
Reggae
Country (American mostly, some old stuff like Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson, and some modern stuff like Eddie Vedder/John Fogerty.
Classic Rock (CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd and so on)
Hard rock (Gn'R, Aerosmith and some Metallica mostly)

Favourite band: ZZ top  8) , and I really like Lynyrd Skynyrd too.

Let me impose a great musician on you all: Leonard Cohen. Well, musician -- he's a poet, painter and novelist as well. At any rate, this old Canadian musician is and has been a major influence on a lot of contemporary musicians. Without further ado I present you a couple of YouTube tracks in no particular order (just some of my personal favorites).

I myself have a vaaaast taste in music too.. And usually pick chilled soothing songs or acoustic to chill play to. BUT! Being an ex pvp-god *cackle* ya gotta crank it up! So my fave genres for owning alliance are Industrial metal (none of that OTT screamy metal shit), progressive rock (tool anyone?) and ofcourse Dubstep! 3 examples for those looking for some adrenaline pumpin music! This one a new found fave of mine by true Industrial founder trent reznor -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g12WWLmcxw0&feature=related (its beautifully cocky, if ur just takin shit down 1 by 1.)

also recommend many other NiN songs for different gameplay. They have an amazingly varied sound.

Progressive song by Tool for grinding BG's, chilled music with some sudden breaks to build ur pew around - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckMM0GPutfo

And alas! A sweet drumstep mix for those who like more modern stuff
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MEWqx8IKXg (seems pussyish in the beginning if ur not familiar with pendulum.. But listen from start in BG and wait till the drop comes and you'll shit brix ;)

My 50 cents or w/e yanks say! NN guys n gals! :)

Sir, I tip my exceedingly large top hat to your taste...

When I want to crank it up a little, I usually go for this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TfZHas3MYo&feature=channel_video_title

If I am doing a dungeon, I prefer something a little slower and epic, such as this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgyW5xxAPcc&feature=channel_video_title

RPing is a little more tricky, as it can change in pace and setting very easily, so I won't link all the different parts or we'll be here all day, however, as Mazguul will testify, my main RP is focused on the WoW forums (The Open RP I am in is called Cannons of Battle, my character is Krovennan Darksabre). Recentl I was tasked with making some epic battle choreography, so what I did was put on some music to help get the tempo I wanted.

Heres what I used, hope you all like:
