Title: The Quote Thread
Post by: Therak on May 19, 2015, 07:51:56 PM
Seems there was a bit of interest in the question thread for quotes. So I thought why not have a thread for it?
Here's the place to throw in your favourite inspirational quote, movie oneliner or maybe even a line from a song you like.

I'll start it off with one of my favourites.

The harder the world, the fiercer the honour. - Dancer (From the Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erikson)

Oooh! Fun!

"For God's sake, man, she's eighteen. And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. Just have at it, would you, and stop fluttering about." - Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the episode called "The Prom" in season 3.

"Crit happens" - Random WoW Guild

ok, a bit more serious:

"Pirates are evil!!? The Marines are righteous!? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history... Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground. Justice will prevail, you say!? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war...becomes justice!"
- Donquixote Doflamingo, One Piece

"I have done this thing because it is just. Blood demands blood. We have lived and lost at the whims of our masters for too long. I would not have it so. I would not see the passing of a brother, for the purpose of sport. I would not see another heart ripped from a chest, or breath forfeit for no cause. I know not all of you wish this, yet it is done. It is done. Your lives are your own. Forge your own path, or join with us, and together we shall see Rome tremble." Spartacus, after ending the house of Batiatus.

Okay, okay. I'll throw few in.

"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that." George Carlin

"When someone is impatient and says, 'I haven't got all day,' I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?" George Carlin

"I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don't have as many people who believe it" George Carlin

I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me.
If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them.
I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.
