Title: Warhammer Online
Post by: sebastian on August 21, 2008, 09:28:15 PM
As you all may or may not know, Warhammer online will be released and have its servers open on the 18th of September.

I'm not sure about the rest of you but i always wanted to try out the game to see what its like.

However i was wondering if there would be other people from the guild doing the same so we could band up together and play on the same sever/side.

Therefore if you know you will try out Warhammer, put down you intended race/class and name.

Personally i'll go as a Black Orc, name i haven't decided yet but i will go on the first RP server avaliable.

im not quiet sure yet, after AOC (and before that Vanguard, city of hero's etc etc) i prefer to wait a month or three and get a trial or something.
If i do go, it will be mostly a orc again, or a goblin shamman.
altho chaos seems alot of fun too,

pitty its not 40k, i had a very small army of necro's when i was a kid :)
anyhow, probly a black orc.

nice cinematic ^^  The greenskins own indeed :p but if I should go to WAR I most likely would spend hours choosing, or a greenskin, or those fire casters

The cinematic is alright (not as good as the WotLK one imo), but the ingame footage didn't really get my blood pumping (on the contrary). I'll wait it out first. Though like Highfist, I'm a bit reluctant to move on to another MMO again just like that.

Besides, I never really liked the Warhammer style that much. Just not my flavour.

I feel the same as Kozzie here. I was interested in the start, but as I kinda saw more 'n more of it I got less interested. Firstly, the graphics aren't particularly good (WoW graphics isn't top quality but hear my reasons) beacuse I just can't see how the Characters look a part of the world, they look a bit like they were copy-pasted into via Photoshop or something imo. WoW doesn't really have amazing graphics but the style of it makes me able to say "f' AoC this is nice looking" in the sense of how the world and enviroment and the characters all fit together.

And oh well, on the cinematics I liked the WotLK one alot more, the Cinematic is about making you eagerly slam your keyboard in anticipation of the game, and the WotLK cinematic is just... Amazing, it even made one of my friend who quit WoW some months back wanna get into WoW again like crazy, simply due to the cinematic.

On the Warhammer cinematic, they just took the road most people do for Trailers, ACTION! There wasn't anything captivating about it I think...

Oh well, personal opinions lol!

I don't know anything about Warhammer and I've never been really interested in this game, but I must admit that some things people say on the WoW forums tempt me to try it. Apparently the game's main focus is World PvP which is exactly what I'm looking for and something that this game lacks. I might wait till after I've tried WoW's expansion but imho it doesn't look that special. Until they bring the world-pvp to azeroth and upgrade the goddamn servers if they do so - I doubt PvP will go towards any different direction.

Also, I recently heard that even the worst PvP gear in WOTLK will require arena points, which is horrible because I can't stand arena-combat :/.

Anyway, if I should start on Warhammer I would probably play something similar to my charater in WoW, ''greenskin choppa'' I think it is. ;)

Warhammer needs time to mature in my opinion.

I have to admit that I'm really torn right now. I'm still quite enjoying Age of Conan but it's missing something and it's taken me a while to realise what it is. There is no real focus for World PvP. In the absence of that, people are trying to create it, but what that boils down to is guilds declaring war on other guilds for any real or imagined reason they can think of. No, Age of Conan is a great game and very much under-rated, but does quite feel like what I was looking for.

So then I find myself watching vids of Warhammer Online gameplay on youtube and wondering if I should swallow everything I've ever said about Warhammer and give it a try. It looks pretty good - a bit like WoW but with slightly better graphics and a bit less cartoony. Looking good and I'm very tempted.

Then I find a video showing all of the mounts. Goblin on a wolf (looks great), orc riding a boar (don't really like Warhammer orcs, but it still looks pretty cool), human on a very nice looking horse, dwarf with some kind of helicopter backpack - Aaaaarrrrggh!

I instantly remember why I hate Warhammer.  :-\

So I'm torn. I really want to find the perfect game for me, but still it does not yet exist. /sigh

Well, i decided to play a dwarf on the Allarielle server.
I`m enjoying it so far, since i didnt see any bugs comparing to the release of AoC.
And these RvR thing is great.

Yesterday i`ve been killed by a goblin two lvls higher than me and since i was near dwarf war camp, i went in to it and started to shoot at that gobo from a canons located in the camp ;D
Didnt kill him, but his squiq.

Sounds like a lot of fun Vlog, but like I said - the helicopter thing just ruins it for me.

I know what you mean, but it doesnt look weird in the universe of warhammer.
Dwarfs are more advanced than others in "machinery", but all their "things" doesnt look strange or inappropriate.

*ninjapost* Tbh, it suits the warhammer dwarves. With inventions they are kinda like the Gnomes of WAR. And I think you should give the game a shot, Akesha. It's worth it, if you're looking for major scale World PvP. Besides, I get to kill Vlog :D

Chaos is a Race that belongs to the Destruction Faction, along with Greenskins and Dark Elfs.
