Name: Grugna Longhand
Alias: The Matriarch
Rank: Chieftain

Age: Deceased
Gender: Female
Race: Orc
Clan: Clan Redblade
Class: Sage
Alignment: Lawful Good

Family: Hukraz (father), Skagluk the Giantkiller (uncle), ? ? ? (heir)
Known Friends: Numerous amongst the varied clans and warbands.
Known Enemies: None

Appearance:
A small, slight orc, Grugna is a far echo from her hulking, musclebound ancestors. Wearing a wolfcap made from a frost-wolf, she favors simple but warm garments of fur and hide. Notably, Grugna is never seen with any form of weapon, nor any of the heirlooms of Clan Redblade.

Personality:
Grugna was a principled but perceptive orc. Choosing to lead by example, Grugna was a lifelong pacifist who vowed never to fight herself and made a show of never carrying a weapon. Her authority relied on wisdom and her veneration for the ancestors, and with decades of determination, she relished the challenge in transforming the Redblades from weakness and the ravages of war into a healthy and prosperous Clan.

History:
Still a child, Grugna was made the first ever female Chieftain of Clan Redblade aged fourteen, when her father Hukraz perished in a raid against the Thunderlord Clan. Although female leaders were relatively uncommon in orc society as a whole, Clan Redblade's numbers were weak and her claim by bloodline was strong, and so she ascended unopposed.

Grugna Longhand was determined not to repeat the mistakes made by her bloodthirsty father Hukraz. During her lengthy reign, the Matriarch would would pursue a policy of appeasing her neighbours and making allies, ensuring Clan Redblade was always represented at the Kosh'harg Festival in Nagrand.

Grugna Longhand’s reign as Chieftain was a golden age of peace for the Redblades. Although she was originally referred to as a Chieftain as well, she ruled for all her long life and was eventually revered and referred to as a Matriarch.

Her death came about during the Kosh'harg Festival, and her pyre was lit in the Nagrand Ancestral Grounds rather than in her homeland of Kraag'gol.

Things you may know about this character:
During her reign, a Nag'Ogar whose name is lost to history attempted to organise a revolt against Grugna. He was quickly apprehended and rather than be executed, Grugna chose to have him cast into the Frostfire wastes naked, bound and blindfolded. She believed it more merciful to commend the orc's eventual fate into the hands of the Wilds.

Grugna's spirit is quick to answer the tribe's spiritualists, and she is often helpful when it comes to dispensing wisdom.

Future Matriarchs would include the founder of the Red Blade tribe, Akesha Redblade, and Morgeth Feralheart, who was briefly Matriarch during a period in which Kozgugore Feraleye was held captive by the Kor'kron.

Things you may not know about this character:
The origin of the name Longhand is debated, and the Annals do not make it clear which deed earned her that name.

Grugna's heirs are unknown, with an unspecified number of generations elapsing between her reign and that of Gruthgar the Ragged. Though she was of the Line of Kraag, she never called herself Wolfking (or indeed Wolfqueen).

On the alternate Draenor, Grugna's spirit fell victim to the void corruption surrounding Oshu'gun, leaving only a tormented echo. Whether her spirit was consumed entirely is unknown at present.
