Title: The Question Thread
Post by: Sadok on May 16, 2015, 03:51:27 PM
Time to get to know each other, orcs!

Here's how it works! Answer the question from the poster above you, and then ask a question of your own! Then the next poster replies to that question, then posts a question of their own. Etc!

Here's mine: What's the best holiday you've ever been on?

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Regorn on May 17, 2015, 03:17:20 PM
Me and my brother (Olgama/Rayek the druid) was leveling up two druids, naturally, we decided to do group quests and dungeons alone. Enter the old western plaguelands and that big Lich in the middle of Andorhal, we were gonna kill it!

We cleared out the area around it, then engaged... then we pulled a bunch mobs, just when we had it all under control, the elite Abomination got close and pulled... when we fixed that... the phone rang...

...we still kill him, felt badass.

Train journeys can be beautiful, quite a sight. But overall, flying is just more convenient.

What do you hope the next WoW expansion is about?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Revax on May 17, 2015, 11:48:16 PM
Im hoping for one of the usual suspects; Hunting Azshara in the deeps, visiting Undermine and also finishing the Zandalari trolls for good and also putting an end to Nzoth. That, or something that makes use of classic zones even more so than Cata did, would love for good ol' Azeroth to be used again.

I like that question so Ill repeat it, what would you like the next few expansions to entail?

What is the thing in WoW that impressed you the most?

No load-screens in between zones. My first MMO was City of Heroes and every single zone boundary had a load-screen. I was amazed by how much of a seamless experience WoW was -- that you could go from Undercity to Booty Bay without one load screen.

Title: Re: The Question Thread

Generally stuff which added nothing but inconvenience to the game. Hunter ammo, warlock soul-shards taking up half of your bags, weapon-skill grinding, and especially leveling hunter pets (particularly if you were high level and got a low-level pet).

Which historical figure would you most like to meet, be they living or deceased?

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Rashka on May 18, 2015, 11:55:00 AM
I'd defiantly rather meet a pride of lions than swim with a Great white. Mainly because underwater freaks me out a bit (air and all that) and the fact that Great Whites' eyes looks creepy as fuck. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to read a lions signal better, plus I believe they're really pretty.

Not sure if it can be called a glitch, but I used to play this racing game for N64 called San Fransisco Rush, on one of the more difficult races you get your car to jump and fly all the way to the lap/finish line in mere seconds by going off road and on a make-shift ramp that I assume was not intended for that purpose :P I used to play that map over and over and over and over again.

... And AGAIN I got post blocked. I generally take a piss and a glass of water (one after the other).

Stitched up arm. Itches far more while healing but heals quicker and leaves you more mobile.

And licorice is delicious (unless sweet)! I'd also go with a dry cider, good wine, or fabulous cocktail before any beer or vodka.

I've also been in a few fights because I tried to seperate the fighters. Been years since I last was in one though, I hate hurting people.

Warhammer dwarfs or tolkien dwarves?

Neither really, not that big of a fan of dwarfs. Can be fun if you want to roleplay some specific arctypes but in general I find them boring.

For roleplaying, a "barbarian type brute" or a "civilized type charmer". What would you rather play? (Not set in stone, but more along the lines of guidelines. Shaman - Wizard would be some equivalents).

But since I snagged this quickly I'll ask it again for the next one!

I'd have to say two people. Two girls in my class who reached out to me at a point I was bullied to the verge of suicide. They didn't do much at first, they sat down at my lunch table, didn't talk until a few weeks had passed. But slowly they became my friends, and was there as a support to me. I owe them more then I can ever repay.

Dog or cat?

When I first saw Avatar in 3d, I left the theatre and drove home and was completely depressed for the entire journey because for the first time, the actual world was surpassed in quality and wasn't as vivid as a film. I actually haven't watched Avatar since because I don't think anything would pay it justice as much as that showing did.

The Ninja Mission, white guys who are totally CIA ninjas. There's a poison that makes the head or heart explode (also works in steel pillars because reasons) and a whole lot of fail.

Which book have surprised you the most?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Gashuk on May 21, 2015, 04:51:33 PM
Really hard one for me, I don't tend to get 'surprised' by books. When I was younger I was really into the Harry Potter series and that had some decent twists and turns by the end, so likely that. If you're looking for something more mature, Atonement by Ian McEwan. The 'postscript' section of that book is shocking, especially if you're invested in the characters after analysis and study etc.

What is your 'party-trick'?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

I'm not afraid of either since they do not exist. (Any more than what he create to mess with people. Like taking long exposure pictures for transparent effect)

And if you had to go alone?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Definitely not. On my own for literally the rest of my life, slowly going towards what really is just death. Nope. I'll stay here and let braver men than me go and I'm not ashamed to admit that. If it was however established, there was a minimal risk associated and was like travelling to Australia (or other long haul flights), of course I would, would be an amazing long holiday :)

"Flow" is what happens when you get so immersed to a game so you forget time. Tetris is notably good at this because it's difficulty scales with how well you are doing and such constantly creates a challenge big enough to create Flow but not small enough to break Flow.

Anything you like to tell me then?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on May 21, 2015, 09:43:43 PM
Technically quantum computation isn't really fundamental science/physics. It's applied physics of how fundamental particles work! But this is what I wanted to tell Srelok but got stolen. So Regorn with the disapearance/death of the yolk master and Marogg I feel the tribe is lacking grumpy old men trying to poison the tribe through strange eating habbits!

Do you have a friend you've lost contact with you wish you got back in contact with?

Yes...should call but I keep forgetting.

Do you fear/are weary of genetically modified food/crops?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Revax on May 22, 2015, 11:48:16 AM
Not weary per se, as a biotechnologiat myself i like to think i know how it works. Technically all crops are modifies at this point. For example, carrots werent always orange. Gmo doesnt Automatically equal bad, but i do tend to want to know what exactly was modified before i eat it.

If you could be a master of anything, what would it be?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on May 22, 2015, 12:55:11 PM
The entire field of known physics. Because that'd let me work and do super cool research in the most fantastic fields we know about. Even if I wouldn't really be able to discuss it with anyone not a physicist which would be sorta sad.

If you could win a "life time supply" of one thing (Food item, candy, that nature) what would it be?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

I would guess money is not counted as one, so if not that, I'd pick food. That way I can divert that money to something else.

Last answer was none...so I ask it again. If you could pick any fantasy setting to live in as you are now, which you'd pick?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Probably the Codex Alera... Like the setting!

A low sleeper or a high sleeper? ( Bed close to the ground or one higher up)
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Umaua on May 22, 2015, 02:04:15 PM
When I was young...high sleeper. Now I got a normal bed that is like...what, 20-30 cm off the floor. I do like sleeping near the roof though.

On the sleeping issue. How long you sleep usually?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Usually 10 or 11. :P

Neither, I paint with my mind! Poetry is by far my best creative outlet.

If you could pick any 'hero-class' (Arch-Druid/Mage, Spirit Champion, Steam Warrior etc) to be implented into the game as per WotLK and DKs, which would it be and why?

Favourite weapon?

I don't think you can beat a truely awesome mace or sword; but I personally really like detailed staves and wands. (I appreciate they aren't true weapons, especially wands IRL), the woodwork can be remarkable.

If you could change one thing about your body, what would it be?

What is your favourite genre of music?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Metal, admittedly lean more towards the ballads in the genre, or at least the slower songs. Like Infinite Dreams with Iron Maiden, or Nothing Else Matters with Metallica etc.

Practical or good looking things?

Camping (tent and stuff) or renting a cabin?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Would depend on time of year and the people and the purpose! Both options can be fantastic! Out in the woods hiking for a week(end)? Camping!
Out in the country side for a week with family or friends to relax? Cabin!

Michael Jackson or Elvis?

Not sure... Sadok or Krogon, leaning a bit more on Sadok tho. We got a bit like friends while I was playing. And Krogon for being... well, Krogon.

Same! Let's make people angry at each other for not claiming their character is favorite.
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Umaua on May 23, 2015, 01:46:40 PM
Make people angry? Okay, favorite character would be Kyraza. Mainly because it's a fun character who keeps talking. No grumpy grumps, but a more positive and slightly crazy one.

Keep it up! Pick and choose a character!
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Sadok on May 23, 2015, 02:11:27 PM
Favourite character? I like Karak, basically because he's the complete antithesis of what an orc should be (light-worshipping well-spoken bard) and a decade of abuse over this fact has slowly broken him down, before building him right back up as a strong independent woman who don't need no tribe. Plus he was Rrosh-tul, who would have seen that one coming?

Favourite spectator sport?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

If I really have to choose, I guess it'd be an E-sport of some kind. Was pretty fun to watch World of Tanks, and some League of Legends games too. For regular sports, I'm just not interested tbh.

I think I have to go with their depiction in the game world of Eon, a Swedish role playing game. They just have more too them than in most worlds that make them interesting.

I have quite some, but it has to be when I leveled my first char, an Enhancement Shaman named Eels. I believe I were lvl 69, just able to enter Karazhan atleast. My sister and her best friend "boosted" me in there, they were lvl 80 at this time, so it took quite some hours actually. But I loved it. When we had to eat we'd sit on some chairs outside the theater till we got back. We ate pancakes btw.

Title: Re: The Question Thread

Traditionally I would say flight; but upon seeing the trailer for Ant-Man, I'd actually say similar powers to that. Think about it, you basically get invisibility because you turn Ant-Sized, super-strength because Ant's can lift like a boss, jump far and so forth. Would be sweet.

If you got bitten by a radioactive animal; what would it be?

((Haha! Way to miss the point of the question Lars <3))
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Considering everything is slightly radioactive I'd go with a common house cat. Their bites are more annoying than harmful.

Got any plans for the upcoming Summer (holiday)?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

First midsummer celebration end of June. Then fixing last semesters math and getting better at scheduling daily study while focused on it without ... other issues getting in the way of the focus.
And maybe actually starting to play Dota against humans, even if anonymous people on the internet are generally unpleasant because they aren't mature enough for it.

Would you rather live with a big garden, space etc. But need to take care of it. Or a small/no garden?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Currently having that debate IRL as we're looking at potential houses/plots. Personally I'm either way, for me, minimalism is key so a smaller garden could look a lot better with a lot less work attached to it but equally, for dogs and general summer shenanigans, a bigger garden would rock! If I had to choose right now however, I'd say small.

Perfect Car? One with not too much electricity, has doors, roof, wheels, suspension and lights. Oh, steering aid is also good and automatic gears.

Soda or water?

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

To nod back to previous questions, my car, I put down around £2.5k as a deposit and financed the remaining £10.000ish over 4 years at a ridiculously low interest rate. (Perks ey).

That's an interesting one, especially for people without cars/houses, so I'll bounce it on!

Firefly, Breaking Bad (not completely done with this one, slowly getting there) or Full Metal Panic would have to be one of those. Not necessarily the "best" on a technical view. But enjoyed the most.
Also, cars are cheap on the scale of expensive stuff. =P

Have you ever talked with your grandparents/greatgrandparents/really old relatives about how the world was when they were your age, and been amazed by how much change they've seen?

There is no such thing as useless facts, only facts out of context.

Aint that a lovely snippet? But other than that, how about this : "You know what color gold is? Its red on atomic level, yellow when in larger quantities." Makes the red in glasses and glassblowing.

Atoms are in a sense "endless". An electron belonging to a specific nuclei could technically be on the other side of the universe and still be paired up. It's just extremely unlikely.
This holds true among all fundamental particles when bound to another one.

The written language. It might be rather ancient looking at modern history (if still "new" in human total history). It is still the sole reason for our way of life, without it technical progress would pretty much not be a thing.

But since I posted twice I'll ask for another interesting fact (useless or not so!)
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Grogok on June 04, 2015, 06:23:35 PM
Well good then this can be both an answer to the cheap car thing you said and bedre a fact interesting or not. I live i Danmark which is the most expensive country in the world (as far as i know) when it comes to cars beside the cars price there is about 200% of the cars price we also have to Pay (i think it's pure taxes not sure)..and then comes ensurance road taxes and gasolin that cost around 1.2 euro or something like it (10-12) DKK. For 1 liter with a car having between 30-60 liter gas tanks

What superpower would you have if you could Choose?

An interesting question to say the least. Many moments I've pondered the answer and it will be either supernatural speed, the ability to fly or the ability to become invisible at will. Opting towards the last one though.

Due to my own facination with these things I'll bounce this one on.

I've often thought about mindreading, only to realize how horrible it would be to always be able to hear what people actually think. So either the ability to heal others, or telekenisis.

Out in the sun with a book, or by the fireplace with a storm outside with one?

Silithus. Large bugs everywhere, not to mention the look of their hives. *shudder*. Hate all big insects and arachnids. Thank god we only have wasps over here.

Is there a flaw in any of your characters that annoys you?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Umaua on June 05, 2015, 09:14:48 AM
Its not so much my characters as it is me. My flaw, that also translates to my characters heavily is strict following of logic. And inability for faith. I have to this date been unable to make a character with faith, or staying illogical consistently. It irritates me to no ends so I can't do it :P I just...can't understand a mindset of faith, so neither can my characters. Only exception is Uma, but then she is crazy and don't allways need to make sense..and in not making sense is actually logically consistent.

Ability to control and manipulate energy in all its forms, but no ability to generate it yourself(read as in sucking energy of other things) or telekinesis and telepathy without any ability to dream or sleep?

Am I allowed to say Deadpool..? No? Oh well. Then I'll have to go with Logan/Wolverine. The grim, dark, and very violent comic version ofcourse ;) Just that whole background and the fact he's basically victimised by us humans...

Ghrm. I'll ask the same question again.
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Been thinking about this and...I gotta say its either Phoenix or Shadowcat. Both have evolved some bit since the start, other turning more and more nonhuman and the other growing as a character. Besides their powers are an envy...

I keep it going. But I expand it to all of them mutants.

Title: Re: The Question Thread

Paint it. Anyone can take a picture, but not everyone can paint even moderately.

I'll pass the same question forward.
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Gashuk on June 08, 2015, 05:39:10 PM
Depends on the imagery; if it was for example, a selfie snap of myself and friends on holiday, I would prefer to take the picture to capture the memory. Popping your easal and paint brushes out would feel a little inappropriate, yet if it was a sunset or a busy urban scene, I'd rather paint it, if I could and had the time.

On a similar topic, do you usually rather reading the book or watching the film? If possible, give an example of this.

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Therak on June 08, 2015, 05:59:24 PM
Reading the book, I have much longer fun with the book, and the movies tend to skip a lot to squeeze the whole thing in in around two hours (maybe even three). I can enjoy a good movie, but I'd much rather enjoy a good book. Compare say... Divergent, the book was alright. It had some interesting concepts, and a lot of things with the different groupings. The movie however removed almost everything interesting, or cut it down to be almost unrecognizable. To make it worse it still wasn't very good.

What skill do you have that you're the most proud of?

Ability to be calm around people. Offcourse there are breaks to this from time to time. But generally I don't raise my voice or be rude very easily. My normal rudeness comes from being blunt.

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Gashuk on July 23, 2015, 05:44:48 PM
Favourite children's story, hrm. A toughie. I would have to say it depends on the age range, as a proper little nipper I enjoyed classics such as;

- The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Spoiler: show
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Hungry-Caterpillar-Eric-Carle/dp/0140569324 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Hungry-Caterpillar-Eric-Carle/dp/0140569324)

Then moved onto things like the Chronicles of Narnia, in particular the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian and the like.

Eventually I got my teeth into the Harry Potter Books and then I suddenly grew up and had to read real books.

EDIT

When I saw this whilst trying to find out when the Caterpillar book was first published, I had to come back and share it.

"The book received renewed attention when in 1999, Pizza Hut asked 50 US governors to name their favorite books from childhood. Presidential candidate George W. Bush "opted for the Caterpillar. It didn't take long for gleeful commentators to point out that when the book was published, Bush was nearly 23."

Depends, the gas grill helps to keep the heat even, it heats up nice and fast and you don't need to bother with getting it lit, not to mention being able to turn it off when you're done.
The coal grill though is nostalgic in many ways, easier to bring with you and has that special smell, also easier to add some wood into the coals to affect the flavor.

Other kinds of fantasy, the classical Tolkien-esque stuff can be nice... But if it's up to me, I like something new. One of my favourite things with fantasy is looking at the world building, the cultures, the magic system if there is one. That's as important to me as the story!

As for pokémon cards, I played them quite a lot as a kid, even did well in some tourneys. I knew a lot of people who knew how to play!

Now for a question...

Would you want to be able to read minds in a way that always let you know what people thought about you? Even if it meant that you'd -always- know what people thought about you?

If its just about knowing what they think about me, no. If its ability to go deeper, then yes.

From Vampire the Masquerade, what clan -you think would- embrace you? And what clan would you -want- to embrace you?

Malkavians, Arkail. ;) (and just because that question was too epic, I'm only fit for the Brujah, though I'd want to be embraced by the Gangrel ;) )

I'd live to the ripe age of exactly 100.

What would you rather exist as, a bird or a snake? (venomous or constrictor's up to you)

Not actually sure if there's an english name for it, but Prinsesstårta (translates into princess cake) basically a cream cake with vanilla cream, jam and marzipan cover.

Title: Re: The Question Thread

Choose for ghosts to exist? Hmm...I would choose them to exist. Why? That would mean a soul of somekind and a possible afterlife of somekind. While I am not a fan of heaven, there are other possibilities that could be nice.

You forgot a question you! So I'll just answer the same question. Of course ghosts exist, don't be silly now. I talk with them every night ;)

Now we're on this kinda topic anyway, does aliens exist? Or does Megalodon still loam in our oceans? You choose which to answer.
Title: Re: The Question Thread

I think it's inevitable that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, but it's probably in a form so utterly alien to us that I'm not sure if we could even recognise it. None of this humanoid alien stuff, I'm talking about super-intelligent trees and THE SINGULARITY.

What would win in a fight to the death? A rottweiler, or a rottweiler's weight in chihuahuas?

The chiahua's. They don't quite have the same power as rottweilers.

Would you rather land in a pine tree or a spruce?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on September 25, 2015, 03:55:17 PM
Spruce, while more branches they also tend to be softer and would act more as a cushion to the fall than a smack. This would of course depend on fall speed since if you were at too high a speed the pressure of impact would just make it not matter and you'd still go splat.
So, spruce on the assumption it'd be softer and leave less broken bones than pine tree.

When you were a kid. Were you a climber of serious degrees? You know, that kid that ALWAYS climbed whatever was there to climb. (And if so. Does it still sit somewhat that you have to resist not to climb a tree)

Yup that was me. I climbed everything. So much they had to cut a branch off my tree in the kindergarten I went to. Yes it was my tee. MY FAVORITE TREE. *Hiss*
Then I climbed over the fence and ran into the forest instead.. Used to climb shelves too, anything really. I don't do that anymore though since I now am afraid of heights. xD

A cheap winter jacket, or an expensive one?

Usually cheaper.

What's your earliest memory?

One that I can conjure up right now...kindergarden, walking downstairs and I saw this cool looking gremlin made out of plastic clay. Though not sure if its the earliest memory I have, since memories of those times don't have a timestamp.

You -have to- travel in time for 666 years. Future or past?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on September 25, 2015, 05:41:52 PM
Future.
A: I'd likely find the past rather unpleasant. We didn't have plumbing in Europe since for some reason we had forgotten about it after the fall of Rome (I mean, SERIOUSLY!? Europe sucked at that time).
B: The law's of entropy within Energy Principles (what is commonly called thermodynamics even if that is a misnomer) makes backwards an impossibility. While forwards could technically, maybe, with extreme amounts of energy and some physics we might not really understand yet, be possible.

Do you listen to news radio?

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Therak on September 25, 2015, 08:38:04 PM
It was a nightmare, back when I was 5 or something. I still remember it...
I was going to the bathroom at the daycare, it was the middle of the night. Something kept rattling one of the doors so I opened it. Inside was an alien, looking like a dozen kids without hands, instead each wrist connected to the next kids wrist, making a huge circle. It wore spandex. black and blue. (I remember wondering how it got dressed like that...)
Then it surrounded and ate me.

Would you rather play golf, or cricket?

Of those Imperium of Man or Tyranids. However, not that interested in 40k since I find a lot of the fluff and lore rather stale and boring.

Gauss (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Friedrich_Gauss) or Euler (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonhard_Euler)? (If you can't answer that I'd suggest studying more math (and physics, chemistry, etc). Since we should be very thankful to both, for a lot).

What is your favourite part of warcraft lore?

I like Night Elven lore for some reason. The whole War of the Ancients deal, Aszhara and Xavius, Malfurion, Tyrande, Illidan and Maiev. Even if I dont like that they made Illidan a villain, I do approve of his upcoming "redemption".

Whats your favorite landmount, flyingmount and for the sake of the orcs, wolfmount atm?
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Fav wolf mount would be the Frostwolf worg, the one from PvP. The new worgs just run in an annoying manner.
Also my favorite landmount is the Winterspring saber and flying mount the Cenarion expedition gryphon.

A WoW villain you'd like to have seen not being so easily defeated. Creating more toward a stalemate than being rolfstomped.

I'd like to see a melee hunter spec, solely because that's kind of what Grosh is IC, I don't like having to wear plate in combat for him the whole time.

What Wow race you would remove, if you needed to remove one?

Grosh, Melee hunters are coming with Legion!

As to answer the question.
I'd remove goblins.
I just don't like them, I even think the Pandas are more fun.

If your character had to 'retire' from the travelling fighty life. What would it do?

Spose I'd better put some money aside for a class transfer then!

I reckon Groshnok would head back to Stranglethorn Vale, probably spending a lot of time in Booty Bay. Though I doubt he'd give up the fighty lifestyle, as he's gotta earn money somehow!

Good question. Probably a universe like Star Wars provided I'd get to be "cast" as something cool like a Jedi, or Bounty Hunter. As a human born on the same planet as Obi-Wan! I've always been fascinated by all things space, planets and everything astrophysical, and I'd pick a high-tech universe like that over a fantasy setting any-day. Why Star Wars in particular? Lightsabers of course :P

I like the question, so I extend it to the next fella!

I'm not entirely sure to be honest... I don't really have a 'want to meet' list of fantasy characters. Maybe Commisar Cain (warhammer 40k) because he's an interesting character... However, I'd prefer if he came here, I'd rather not go there tbh.

Paperbacks or hardbacks in your bookshelf?  And why?

Hardcover. The problem that I found with softcover books is that they tend to get damaged quicker than the hardcover books. Also from what I've noticed, hardcover books tend to be bigger than softcover books. Whilst people might think they might be too big, I think that it only contains more stuff for myself to read. That being said, I have nothing against softcover books in general, I'm just more a fan of hardcover.

What is your favourite fantasy setting written in a book?

That is a tough one, but I can say with certainty its the world of a Song of Ice and Fire. Mr. Martins work is so vivid and real that you almost forget its about the undead, magic, dragons and such.

Its actually series but Quantum Gravity by Justina Robson, starting with Keeping it Real.

If out to the test to choose. A traincart coming and going to smash 3 persons on the tracks. And you have a choice of pushing a very large person onto the tracks so he would stop the cart and so, save those three persons.

Which one you'd choose? Push one person infront of the cart or let the card kill three other persons? And NO, those are the only two options, no other fancy stuff is possible.

Writing this on my phone so spelling mistakes inbound: one time when I was playing Dota whilst being on teamspeak to talk to some friends. After a few hours most of them left and I essentially forgot that I was still on there. Basically what happened, during my game I started to hear strange noises and after time progressed I started to pay more attention to it. When I fully paid attention to it, I heard moaning and groaning and came to the conclusion that there were some people revelling in adult actions. This... Was... Awkward as fuck.

This is why you don't put your microphone on voice activation or open mic.

Now for something more pleasant and less awkward, what was the main source of inspiration for the main character that you have in ORB?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Therak on October 30, 2015, 02:43:00 PM
Originally Therak was an attempt to prove that chaotic evil didn't necessarily mean mean to everyone. His alignment has shifted a lot though. He also had a lawful good twin who was quite an asshole to complement it.
I didn't have any real inspiration for him other then that. I guess a bit of a spy story attempt with him.

Passing the question along!
Title: Re: The Question Thread

Having a character that always has a reason to talk to someone. A character I don't need to think some cool way of approaching someone, I just can do it and make an odd comment. I also like to play characters that are cheery.

Passin' it along as well!

"Now for something more pleasant and less awkward, what was the main source of inspiration for the main character that you have in ORB?"
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Kozgugore on October 30, 2015, 05:32:19 PM
Originally, I just wanted to make an orc that adhered to the whole stereotypical "tenets of the New Horde"-thing, since I noticed there were a -lot- of Warhammer-inspired and "simpleton" orcs around at the time that I was making Koz up. So I suppose Thrall played a very big role in that regard, since I loved his depiction of a noble savage in WCIII. Other than that, the character Fitzchivalry from Robin Hobbs' the Farseer Trilogy played a decent role in inspiring me in regards to some traits and character history. Add to that a mixture of warrior cultures, native American culture and a few historical figures and you've got yourself a Koz-cocktail.

While the question itself probably deserves a thread of its own, I'll just pass it right along until someone does so!

I made up Hellbrew right as MoP was announced, I had wanted to get back to RP for a long time and playing a fist-fighting drunkard orc just sounded too much fun to pass up on. Being a martial artist myself also served as an inspiration, as I like my characters to inherit a few of my own traits. I also like to play characters that hold some traditional traits of their race mixed with a little bit of strange. At the time, I was in awe of Sean Connery and his way of speaking and realized it would be a fun thing to add to Hellbrew.

Who is next? :D
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Regorn on October 30, 2015, 06:32:55 PM
I was in great love in Wacraft Lore when I made Regor (later changed to Regorn). While I was RP'ing with the Thunderfury clan the character evolved slowly until he reach this point. Regor was far more joyful, drunk, talkative and less rigid then Regorn. The aspect of being a old Orc with lot's of knowledge was tempting so I rollplayed like that. The (first) minor shamanistic tendencies went to overdrive from "distrust the fel" to "burn the fel!". Regor would have no problem getting drunk in booty bay, wander up on a house and jumping down the water, Regorn will find such things to be foolish.

I wanted to RP out a Warlock who eventually gives up Fel magic, so that was the main basis of Makaroth here. I knew i'd make him a warrior eventually, and im looking forwards to fleshing out his character as time goes on!

Not sure if I'm allowed to respond on a question that was originally mine but fuck it.
The idea for Kogra actually came during a meet up I had with two other guilds at the same time two years ago now in Sweden. We were all WoW players and someone brought the pen and paper roleplaying books with them. So we decided to play that.

most people wanted to play something crazy. We had a Murloc hunter, a baby seagiant, a dragonkin, a tauren rogue, a tauren druid, a naga priestess, a dryad, a high elf spellbreaker, a night elf priestess, and myself being the orc shaman. Whilst reading through the books, one particular arch-type (A differentiation from a certain class) caught my eye which was the Far Seer (I absolutely loved them in lore already). I wanted to build a character around it but did not make it for that campaign yet, so instead I went for the battle shaman.

The day after I came back from that meetup I went to Castlefest in the Netherlands and there I met some idiots who called themselves the Orcs of the Red Blade. They kept bugging me (Note that this is altered from what actually happened) whilst I just wanted to talk to Rhonya! After endless attempts at persuasion, I decided to give it a go. So the next day I was in the guild with the character that I wanted to give a try in Pen and Paper but never got to it. As for inspiration, I absolutely loved Drek'thar.

Too keep it fair, I'll bounce this awesome question once more.

After my previous rp toon of a drunken overweight decadent party troll. So my inspiration was to be the opposite i wanted a more serious toon i wanted arkail to be a decent sort who was capable with magic honourable orc and all that. What i ended up with was Arkail not so great at magic or anything combat wise  and ended up being a forsaken loving monocled bookworm as it just played out. I really cant do rp without major character flaws i've found.

Bouncing the question down
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Gridish on November 01, 2015, 10:35:24 AM
Main source of inspiration. To be honest, I didn't really base the character off anything. Gridish was my first RP character as well as my first WoW character in general, so while I played and RP'd him, I was also learning the game and its lore. If anything that's how Gridish turned into the Orc he is today really. Uncertain and freaky Orc that spent most of his youth around a human. Joining the Tribe, stilll learning the basics of Arcane magic and not knowing -too- much of, what would be concidered by Orcs as, general knowledge. As time went on and I learned more about the game and it's lore, Gridish grew as well. As for Lofty.. As to where Gridish is more the silent type, Lofty is just the all-out going counterpart of Gridish. He's also a great tool to just get the things that I would want to say that come to me, but wouldn't fit for Gridish.. I can just say them as Lofty *evil chuckle*.

Now to unbounce the question! Do you prefer dark meat, white meat or no meat at all?!

Dark meat? You mean Red meat?

At anyrate I have no meat preference, but if I'd have to choose between the two. White.

Ooft, that's a tough one. I enjoy near sci-fi, mainly for the interpretation of what society would be like in the not -too- distant future, but then far future sci-fi simply for all the whackyness that can come out of that!

I quite like post apocalyptic scenarios, it gives a very nice chance to explore morality and survival in a situation where everything familiar has been destroyed.

Would you rather have an elephants trunk attached to your face in place of a nose, or a giraffe's neck?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Grogok on March 02, 2016, 12:16:07 AM
Would any of it scale to your size..or would you end up having a trunk that is the same lenght if not longer than yourself, or a neck that would be three times longer than the rest of your body?..

In any case I think I would chose the trunk, for two reasons, ONE it would be possible to have it removed without killing you should it cause to much trouble " removing your neck and getting a shorter one, might work, but I think it would kill you". and TWO i think it is for more easy to live with a elephant trunk, that you can carry in your arms, rather than having to move with your body in a horizontal position all the time, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to go through doors your head would get stuck in wires, lamps trees or smacking your head into every bridge you would have to pass under in your life.

Would you rather

Would you rather have your Character become a popular Hearthstone Card (Legendary), or have it become a NPC in WoW that actually does something (don't just stand around like a reference, gives you quest and shit) OR! Have it become a Heroes of the Storm Hero character.

I was Ten, near the end of Junior school in the last months. When I entered the 'playground' and saw two large kids bullying this other kid. He was large, and always called names, not the brightest... but he was -good-. Would never hurt a fly.

And here was these two boys you would consider 'cool', one holding his arms behind back while the other slapped, kicked and punched the other boy as he cried and whailed for help, no other kid doing a dam thing.

I don't know why, or what exactly it was deep down in me that snapped... I guess it could of been the moment my 'concience' formed properly. but I flew at the pair of them, and got between them and him. I got bruised, bad, and had a huge thick bleeding lip. But I stopped them hurting him until the teacher got off her ass and split it all up.

I was expelled the very next day, and promptly after that the mother of the bullied boy came and thanked me.

I hate Bullies, I always have, if I see them, I stand up to them. I get into fights a lot due to it, the concept of the strong picking on the weak for 'amusement' boils my blood inside out and I dare say I take a sick thrill out of seeing -them- scared. I may be slightly mad. But yeah, that day and moment changed my life, because it decided fundamentally what I believe in. Might, does -not- make right.

Same question again folks.

Or the most badass threat ever.

“I know exactly what I’ll be doing about it, son of Hellscream. I’ll watch and wait as your people slowly become aware of your inaptitude. I’ll laugh as they grow to despise you as I do, and when that time comes, that your failure is complete and your power is meaningless, I will be there to end your rule; Swiftly and silently. You will spend your time glancing over your shoulder and fearing the shadows for when the time comes, and your blood be slowly draining out, you will know exactly who fired the arrow that pierced your black heart.” â€" Vol’jin

Choosing French rather than German to specialize in back in high school. Six years and I still don't feel like I can form a proper damn sentence other than to ask how many baguettes there are. Shittiest European language ever (not counting Finish because they're not from Earth).

High levels of depression detected in this thread. Time to turn it around! Happiest or fondest memory?

I have plenty, but one that ranks highly lately is last time we went to Camillas parents. Her 4 year old niece is no longer afraid of me, and as soon as I sat down climbed up on the chairs backrest and began to speak with me. Usually she's needed a day or two to stop being scared.

What's the most disgusting thing you've eaten?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Therak on March 06, 2016, 04:08:09 PM
It depends a lot on your definition of disgusting. I've eaten ants, which to me wasn't so disgusting but others disagree.
One of the best things I've eaten was Chanterelles fried up in a skin balm... which in hindsight also makes it one of the more disgusting things. Was during my basic military training during our survival exercise. I was really hungry, which made it good. but... I'd rather not do it again.

Depends on the situation, but in general combat is about firepower, mobility and protection. The first option offers mobility and firepower. The protection doesn't make up for it most of the time.

I showed a friend of mine a picture of my Dark Elf in Morrowind, and he said "DUDE! That looks so much like a Night Elf in WoW! You should totally try that game out!" Since I was already considering buying the game, I figured why the hell not.

The very moment I saw the ugliness of the Night Elf males in the character creation, I promptly opted to switch to something prettier and elegant looking instead.

I made a dwarf instead.

Card games or board games? (No, Tabletop does not count under board games)
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on March 09, 2016, 01:02:29 PM
Both have their merit. Depends a lot of "kind" within. While I'm no fan of TCG (Magic etc) games. LCG appeal to me somewhat (Living Card Game). Same as there are lot of deck builders (Legendary an example) and individual card games that are great. (Race for the Galaxy being a prime example).
Same as there are tons of good board games. From super simple stuff like the Resistance to big pieces like Battlestar Galactica and Railways of the World.
Poker and "classical deck" games can also be very entertaining.

So, both! (Unless with Card games you only specificly meant TCG, then boardgame. TCGs are money sinks and horrid by design).

I'd say vampire for the sake of a long life and being a night person in general, but according to my sister's little daughter and niece, I already remind them of a "big bad wolf" for whatever reason. And frolicking in the woods always seemed like a fun pasttime to me, so werewolf in the end!

Teleportation or invisibility?

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Lars on March 11, 2016, 11:18:32 AM
Teleportation, as long as it was relativistic to the earth and to the different velocities of the earth depending on the latitude you're teleporting between. So I wouldn't end up somewhere in space far away, or as a red splat. Preferably with me being able to move other obects as well along with it.

Teleportation is supperior to invisibility in every way but peeking at naked people, and well. There's the internet for that. With Teleportation I could easily just move around the world as I wanted. Use it to become the greatest humanitarian ever by being cheap transport. Or take things hostage by teleporting heavy chunks up high in the sky and dropping them unless I get money.

So, new question!

Wood Elf.

For the rest of your life you can seduce anyone you like but will never have a lasting relationship or find a person you will truly be happy with but they will pass away long before you do?

Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Rakmal on March 16, 2016, 11:23:06 AM
Shit, that brought up some feelsy anime memories. Still, I don't like the thought of playing around as the first one suggests. I'm sure it would be nice for the carnal purposes, but I think I'm going to choose the second one. If romantic literature carries any truth to it whatsoever, a lifetime as a playboy is vastly inferior to a few decades with a person that fits all your needs and wants.

Shit, I gotta get unserious... Top or bottom?

If you could introduce a new class to WoW, what would it be?

A tricky one to answer, WoW already has most the basic flavours of classes you usually expect via specs and a little bit of cross-class inventiveness., though If I had to choose i'd probably say a clothy that manipulates time, more so than a mage. Essentially a chronomancer.

I'd pass the same question on, but its a toughy, so...

Whats your favourite food/beverage combination?

Nail an awesome trick. As much as I'd want to do the other thing, I fail to see how the nail would react to my schemes. It would be unfulfilling.

Murloc, neutral. Easly.

If you could add a new faction, wut eet be?
Title: Re: The Question Thread
Post by: Rakmal on March 17, 2016, 03:57:30 PM
The Burning Legion. It would be at war with both Alliance and Horde, and would have the following races:

Eredar
Nazherim
Terrorguard
Fel Orc

Every race starts at level 60 and quest for the enemy NPCs in Outland, Northrend, Cata and so on. Eredar can only be mage and warlock, and Demonology becomes a healing spec.
Fel Orcs can be Warriors, Hunters and Warlocks.
Nazherim can be Death Knights, Warlocks and Rogues.
Terrorguards can be Deathknights and Warriors.

Players of this faction cannot do dungeons, but have 200% more HP, so raiding other faction settlements is easier. They also all get 500% more XP from BGs and 20% off on PvP gear.
