Also, from what I've heard the rules in the new edition are actually really solid and good to interest new players. ... The rest of it, however, is really stupid.

Gw are teasing the Rhana Dandra. (Eldar end times) As far as I understand they're pushing the plot along to 1minute to midnight. Warzone Fenris was step 1. Keep an eye on gw this weekend. ;)

I'm a bit tempted to start reading the 40k books. Just. Soooo fucking many and money adds up ... and I feel that there are better more giving books worth the money and time more.

Personal preference. At least it's easy to learn and not as bloated as 40k. Besides, I still vastly prefer the Horus Heresy. (Shattered Legions baby. Iron Hands, Raven Guard and Space Puppies.)

Regarding books, I'd say Horus Heresy too.
