The Campfire / Howling no longer
October 01, 2014, 02:15:50 AM
The smaller one of the moons had risen today, and now hung pregnant against the almost clear sky. Flakes of snow slowly made their way to the ground as a soft chilling breeze influenced their paths. The night was still young when three orcs and two wolves had made their way to the Alterac Mountains. A long trip they had made already as one of them had guided the others through the land.

In front of the orcs was the Rock of Durotan, a mighty rock that was memorable for many of the Frostwolf Clan, to remember their previous chieftain and as a reminder that the he had never given up on orc kind. In the sides of the rock, runes were carved. Some had meaning, some had less meaning. On one of the sides, a plaque was placed and inscribed by the current chieftain of the Frostwolf clan, Chieftain Drek’thar.

“Here lies Durotan - first Chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan, and father of our honored Warchief, Thrall. He was the bravest of our kind - betrayed by those who would see our people enslaved. Durotan gave his life that our freedom might be gained. We honor him - and the legacy he passed on to us through his son.

-Drek'Thar, Far Seer of the Frostwolves”

Kogra had recited the words for the others, even though she could not read the plaque at this point in time, she had still remembered every single word of them. The near celestial light of the moon blinded the young orc as she lifted up her blind fold and rested it up on her black and white hair. Vague runes she saw upon the stone but she knew where they turned and how they were made.

Her mind had drifted away, thinking about the many times she had spent here as a child. She had heard many stories about Durotan, none of them staining his honour or his convictions. In her mind she could see the rock clearly, noticing every scratch and every turn the runes made, some sharp and some in a very flowing motion.

Kogra’s ears perked as she heard a vague scream on the wind, incomprehendable, a lighter voice was the origin, most likely a female figure. Something was familiar about the voice but she could not place it. Her nearly colourless eyes shifted to the two other figures around the stone as if she was looking for an affirmation. “Did you hear that?” Kogra had asked to Sinami and Redhand. “heard what?” Sinami had responded, her own ears now scanning the area aswel. Moments of silence passed as none dared to break it, eager to hear what it might have been. “It must have been nothing” the silence was gone as Kogra spoke, a hint of confusion in her tone. The eyes of Kogra went to trail the runes etched in the sides of the stone. The other female had tilted her head and spoke: “If you heard something, I believe you heard something.” A sigh emitted from the Far seer, the features of her face turning into a frown. “If she had heard it, why didn’t the others?” She asked herself.

“He’s down, the alpha is down!”

A second scream had filled the air once more of a female, the same familiar feeling came over her. Before anything else had happened, Kogra darted off, running through the familiar snow, not running with senses but on instinct rather. Footsteps left behind as she ran through the white expanse, making her way north, the snow falling limited her already blinded vision. The sounds of a heavy beast trailing behind her, her own frostwolf ,Snowstalker. She could feel the beat in her heart increasing as she made her way through the thick layer of snow, where others would have struggled, she seemed to move through naturally. A clarity of vision as she saw a small camp rise from within a patch of trees. Four small and one slightly larger white tents had been erected from the ground, a boar roasting on the cozy little fire burning in the middle of the them. Three orcs were seen within the camp, a female warrior who had some sort of necklace hanging around her neck, a short spear within her hand and a buckler bound around her left arm. Another of the orcs was a male, his chin seemed to be covered with blood as a layer of war paint had found its way upon the face, A large battle axe upon the back of this one. The last one was another male, this one undersized compared to the other two but bulging muscles were present, from this one two smaller weapons hand from his hips. Kogra had stood there, looking over at the figures with their everyday activity, light could be seen coming from between the mountains as dawn broke. One of the orcs seemed to have spotted her, upon their gaze meeting she had recognized her, it was Shaga Frosthowl, the female who had slain a harpy with a frozen stake of ice. The hand with the buckler had made its way through the air as it was brought into a waving motion. “There ye are, ye seem te be an early riser, looking fer te prey? Ye be te late fer that, we already found one”, she nearly yelled at her.

Before she could say anything, the flaps of the larger hut flung open and a large male had emerged from it, stretching his arms wide as he looked over at the others with a grin. “You lot seem to be in a good mood”, the male said. A mere grunt was given by the male with the red chin. Upon hearing the voice, Kogra looked at the new figure, her jaw fell open as she recognized this one aswel. Unlike the others which she had rarely seen at times, this one she had known her whole life, it was her older brother Aghan Strongwinter.

A mixed feeling came over the young frostwolf, a feeling of both happiness and sadness. “I see someone had an early hunting? Let’s hope it tastes just as good as ever.” Her brother had said, a tongue running over his lips as his gaze set upon the roasting boar. “We’ll have to travel far today, moving along the mountain side to get a better look at the dwarven encampments and their forces” He continued in a more serious tone.

Uncomfortably Kogra strode forward towards the camp, her eyes fixated on her elder brother, lifting her left arm as she reached out for him. Halfway through she came to a stop. The male looked up from the boar and down at his sister with his crimson red eyes, his scarred face tilting to the side, his long black braid swaying along looking like a river of pitch turning its body like a slithering snake. “Is there something wrong?” He’d ask to her.

Then it dawned upon her, something she remembered, something hidden within a far space of her brain, an unwanted memory made its way to the surface. The sound of thunder in its rawest form cracked the sky as crimson coloured liquid spat away from a freshly created hole in the head of her brother. The eyes continued staring at her though they grew large and lost focus. The huge body of the male toppled and fell onto his knees for a few more moments, the ever staring look continuing to hold, nothing but the empty void could be seen within them now as the pupil took over more of its original colour.

The blue sky that had once hung above them now turned more red as if the sky itself was filling with the same blood that oozed out of the head of her brother. Bits of brain followed the stream as the pure white snow had been tainted with shades of red. Kogra looked at the display with tearful eyes, the arm that had once been lifted to reach out for her brother now fell like the body of the one she wanted to touch. Moments it took before she could realise and screamed out in a sad rage like tone. “He’s down, the alpha is down!” She had screamed as she rushed over to the motionless body of her brother.

The other orcs of the encampment had taken up arms, bellowing orders at each other as they had taken it upon themselves to avenge their alpha and brother in arms, rushing outwards to where they had thought the sound had come from. Mere moments later the cry for help had been joined with the cries of dwarfs finding their way to their demise.

Kogra had reached the body of her brother, lifting him up as her arms had coiled around the lifeless features of the male. “No.. No this cannot be” Kogra pleaded as fear had taken over, unable to do anything but making apologies to her brother. The sounds around her had faded or well, they were still present but It sounded as if she was underwater and the sounds were made above them, unable to distinguish any sound from another or guess what they had originated from.

Minutes she had sat there to spend her time with the colder growing body of her brother, not having paid attention to anything else. She had not even noticed that her wolf had sat down next to her and licked her face with her warm tongue.

Another wolf had joined them as the combat around them seemed to fade. This one she knew, it was Icebreaker, the wolf of the deceased orc she knew so well. It had joined her and licked the warm tears of her face. At first she had not noticed but then she felt the rough hair of the tongue brushing up on her cold skin.

Shortly after two others had joined. A female who had not been seen within the camp before, she carried a long bow with her and her body had a more agile build. This one was known as Bagha Wolfsister. An orc who both she and her brother had spent more time with. Her brother due to the fact that she was his mate and for Kogra herself due to that she admired this orc for her unmatched speed and skill with the bow. The other orc that had joined them was Prag the Hungerer, an orc which only now she had recognised from before. It was the smaller orc of them all.

The female had sat down next to her, her head turned to the body and a hand reached out to gently shake the shoulder of Kogra, no sense of grief to be spotted within her actions. Once more had she had the feeling that she was inside a protective bubble as the sounds sounded as if she was underwater. “Kogra, are you alright?” the female had asked her but all she could mutter in between her sadness was more apologies, and death.

“Why you hugging old bones?” The male had asked. Never had she really talked to this one but she couldn’t remember him talking in this way. The other female had shrugged as a response it seems and some words followed but she could not hear them, the same barrier like feeling disturbing the comprehension of the words.

Kogra soon found her, with sadness paralyzed, body to be picked up by the male. She had kicked wildly as she was heaved over the shoulder of the male, still clinging onto the lifeless body of her brother. Protests were muttered and curses were yelled as they were moving. Curses aimed in general but also at the two orcs for making comments about leaving the body behind. A headache had grown in her head during this whole experience, something was not right but she could not quite place her finger on it.

Minutes of struggling passed but she had not been able to free herself, nor her brother from the grip of the, in her eyes, traitor. They had left the white lands and entered the green. With each few seconds that passed, even more steps had been felt by the young frostwolf. She could feel her stomach turning somewhat as this reminded her of being on a ship. Though this ship seemed to have turned around. Once they had entered a more green area of land but now they found themselves back in the snow area. They had made their way back from where the event had occurred. Light seemed to fade as the burning sky had turned black like the one of the evening before, clear of clouds and revealing the pale lady. The once clear images had gone blurry again as the land around them seemed to fade and turn. The tents that she saw earlier had gone, not a single trace left that there was ever a camp there, the fire that had been in the middle of the tents was gone now as well, the rocks that had been around it scattered all throughout the white expanse.

She had been put down by the male again on the place where she had lifted up the corpse to begin with, the shades of red gone and replaced with pure white as a new layer of snow would have most likely fallen to fade all the colour out of it.

As Kogra had sat down, her arms still wrapped around the dead body, she saw a weird occurrence, the male that had once been small had now outgrown her heavily. It’s features changing as well. The tabard that the male had once worn faded a black scaled set of armour. She had taken a better look at the vague form of this new body of the orc and found it quite similar to one she had seen before. Upon taking a better look she had noticed that this was the body of Redhand, the one she had left the night before together with Sinami.

A confused look at found its way on the young frostwolves face as she had turned her head to look at the female now, the tabard had disappeared from this one as well, it changing into simple leather armour. The bow that was once worn on her back was now accompanied by a walking staff. Even though she could not see the face, she would have only been able to assume that the face had also changed to the one that shared the similar appearance before; Sinami.

The confused look had deepened upon seeing these changes happen. Her vision still had not restored from the mending of the chieftain, far from it in fact, but still she was able to see the images before with full clarity, as if nothing had been obstructing her in doing so, not even the spirits who had taken her sight as a payment in return for their aid.

A thought doomed up to the young frostwolf as she looked at the body of what once was the proud body of her brother. It’s features had changed, where there would once be flesh, bones had taken a place. The wound in the head seemed to have healed but other wounds had appeared all over the body. The frostwolf tabard that had once cladded this orc had now turned into a midnight purple kind of colour, the emblem changing to that of a forsaken symbol.

Quickly she tossed the corpse away from her as she realised that this had not been the body she had been keeping close all day. Something had happened, Something had happened but what?

The sound of the area had gone silent, including the wolves that had inhabited the area. No howling was heard this day… Not even a single lonesome wolf had been heard as if the world itself had experienced what Kogra had just experienced.

The Campfire / Snowstalker
September 18, 2014, 03:19:55 PM
((Right, so yesterday I was kind of forced to make up a story on the spot abot how Kogra met her wolf so err... To bring it to the rest of you, here it is))

“My own lifelong companion is called Snowstalker. I've known her since eehm... Well since I've done the traditional hunt of getting her.

It was some years ago now in the lands of Alterac, our current homeland. As we were exiled we moved here and the frostwolves followed us. As the day came that I had to get out there and perform the rite myself, it was in the middle of the winter so it was freezing cold and the snow blocked vision from beyond thirty feet or so. For hours had I wandered, sticking close to the, now with snow covered, lantern posts that usually light the way. It was hard to find your way back otherwise as all the tracks were faded again within mere minutes.

Exhausted, Freezing and kind of desperate not to die due to any factors I wandered the lands until I saw an opening in the mountain side. I thought it would have been a good thing to settle down for some while and make sure that the snow that was pouring down would settle and not be the end of me. As I moved over there I thought I saw something moving in the snow, I stared at it for a few moments but it did not move again. I did not want to waste to much time and continued. The cave coming closer with each step I took but my legs were tiring and nearly crumbled right under me as plowing through the snow is not an easy task to do.

As I fought my way to get to the mountain side, I heard something behind me, growling and before I knew it and was able to turn around I felt massive weight pouncing onto me. I had but barely escaped the maw of what was a frostwolf looking for her prey. I had no clear time to think and just wanted it to get off of me so I drew my axe and gave it a clean knock on her head with the backside of the axe. It staggered and got off of me. The thing that I had seen before was probably the same thing I saw at that moment. A beast with a beautiful white fur, blending in perfectly with its surroundings. I stood there in awe for a few seconds actually as it tried to just leap at me again. This time I had time to react and rolled to the side, though what I thought would have been a harmless dodge turned out into me rolling from the mountain side. Gladly the snow had broken some of damage I would have normally sustained from the hard stones.

When I finally felt my body come to a stop I thought that I had broken every bone in my body. Gladly it was less damaged than I thought. I tried to stand up but I noticed that the fight against nature had drained much of my strength. As I finally rose to my feet I had noticed that the same beast had followed me. She thought she had found easy prey but she was wrong. With the last bit of strength that I had within me, a battle erupted between me and the wolf. The wolf ending up worse than I was, wounds from cuts and scratches on both of our bodies. Our precious lifeblood seeping from the wounds and making us weaker by the minute. I was glad that she was the one who succumbed first and fell to the ground. I felt for the beast though and brought it to a very small opening in the mountain side, there I tended to her wounds and mine.

I passed out and woke up to the whimpering sound of a wolf, hanging over me. Although it had tried to kill me before, it had seemed to notice that I took care of the beast. I shared some of my rations with it as we were both hungry. I made a fire and we waited until the storm was over. Once the storm was over, I left the small entrance first and took my steps onward to the camp once more, I was completely drained, both physically and mentally. But as I took my steps I had found that the wolf followed me. I fell in the snow and she had padded next to me, pushing me onto my feet once more. It seems that when you get into conflict with someone and you don't end their life, They can return you the everlasting bond of companionship. That's what I had gained at that point and returned to camp with my new lifelong companion, not having failed my task after all.

Ever since that day, the wolf, which I named Snowstalker due to the fact that that was the way that we met and she could blend in perfectly with the snow, and I have created a bond that cannot be broken. Ever since that day we’ve spend our lives together, looking after one another when one fell ill. We’ve attained a level of companionship that has made us think as one and makes us feel what the other feels.”

The Campfire / Looking back, Kogra background part 1
September 02, 2014, 05:53:23 PM
The wind of Nagrand brushed gently through the black and white hair of Kogra as she sat on one of the hills near the ancestral burial ground. Her posture relaxed compared to what she was the days before. She scoured the land with her two curious eyes. She could simply not believe that she had arrived in a land so pure. She had wanted to see the lands of old for a long time but her dreams were shattered as she heard that Draenor is no longer what is was before. She would no longer be able to visit her clan's old lands, The Frostfire Ridge.

The oathbound sighed as she thought back of that, quite disappointed with this fact. She had wanted to see the lands where her parents had lived and her two elder brothers had grown up. Her thoughts were interrupted as she saw the white fur of Snowstalker prowling through the tall grass, hunting on her own on one of the talbuk of the plains. This made Kogra smile, she atleast had something that came from her ancestral lands, something that was very close to her.

Last night she had been talking to the far seer in Garadar, she had told them about her problem that she was stuck, blocked, obstructed and that she had no sense of progression on the path that she walked. The path that they too walked. She had asked them for advice and they had granted her, "In order for someone to focus on the future, one sometimes have to take a step back. In some cases, multiple steps." She had taken this advice to heart and had made her own interpretation of this. In order to overcome this blockade, she had to look back, look back and see what was actually obstructing her.

Windwatcher rested on her hill. She lit some incense and placed it around her in a circle, the scent of the incense filled the air around her as she closed her eyes and focused on the location where she had lived, Alterac valley. As her eyes closed, the light that the moon reflected upon the grasslands had faded until it was nothing but utter darkness as the lids of her eyes blocked her ability to see. She spoke a request to the spirits; "Everliving spirits of wind and air, allow me to see that which I have seen before, allow me to hear the things that have been heard before but most of all, allow me to find out that which has been bothering me."

Minutes past of utter darkness, nothing to be heard but the wind bristling through the grass. "The spirits must not have allowed me to see this all" The shaman thought. She took another deep breath and as the air filled her lungs, the wind current seemed to accelerate, the once still current now turned into a fast gush of wind that spun around her. The eyes that she once closed in peace were now opened forcefully. A white light had blinded her, no, it was not white light, it was light from the sun that had reflected on the cold snow. She knew this place, this was the place where she grew up, The Valley of Alterac.

The lips of the windwatcher curled up into a smile as she was home in the place that she grew up in. She looked around to see if she could see her wolf, Snowstalker, but she could not. She shook her head a little as she had no time to look for her wolf! She had to get back to the keep that guarded her home, her clan was waiting for her.

She moved her way through the thick layer of snow as she navigated herself back to the road where torches were on either side that lit the way. She continued her walk along the road until she was met by a large neverending pallisade that was only interrupted at one point to fit the gate in. At either side of the gate, two watchtowers stood taller than the trees that surrounded the camp.

As the oathbound drew closer to the gate she caught a glimpse of the watchmen atop of the watchtowers. "Mok'ra brothers of the clan" She spoke to draw the attention of the guards to draw the gate open. The guards, however, did not even seem to have noted the female that wanted entrance to the camp, or so she thought until one of the guards turned its head towards her and seemed to look right through her but that was the only thing he did. She let out a grunt as she was ignored but moments later she could hear the watchmen yell at eachother. The gate was opened, Kogra inclined her head in a nod and wanted to walk inside the camp until she felt the thick snow shifting under her feet and heard the sound of paws charging through the snow in rapid succession.

Windwatcher looked around to see what it was and was met by the nightly wolf rider patrol. Torches in hand they sat on the wolfs, oh she knew the orcs so well. Shaga Frosthowl, the orcess who had used a piece of ice to kill one of the harpies. Thuk the Beater, one of the strongest of the orcs in the clan, that was with physical strength that was. Bagha Wolfsister, she who was able to match the wolves in speed when it came to running, also the messenger of the clan. Prag the hungerer, He who was always hungry, not for food but for battle. Those were the one who were flanking their alpha, an orc who sat proudly on his wolf. Red were the colour of his eyes, not like a ruby but more crimson like blood. A large thick scar made by a claw ran across his chest, even though it was winter and freezing cold here, he was riding without any fur or armour. Huge black braids could be seen cascading from under his wolf mask, oh yes she knew this orc. She knew... and yet she did not like this. The orc was no one else but her eldest brother, Aghan Strongwinter.

She could feel tears run over her cheek as she saw her brother atop of the wolf, not from happiness but of sadness. The wolf riders gave the command and rode inside the camp. Kogra followed them. Behind her she could hear the guards and shortly after, the shutting of a massive gate.

Snow started plummiting from the skies, covering the ground even more and let the tracksthat were made in the snow fade. With long steps the young Frostwolf strode through the camp, walking towards the large hut she knew so well. As she got closer, she started to walk slower, not knowing wether she should barge in or not. She decided to stay outside for a bit. Minutes later as she had settled down next to the hut, she saw one of its flap fly open and a little orcess charged out, yelling in an incomprehendable language, She ran barefoot through the snow down the path from which her brother, that she had just seen, was coming. The large orc grinned as the tiny orc jumped into his arms.

"Agha, agha, Did you kill any of them dwarves?" the little orc asked still so very much excited to see the male. "Calm down now sis, dwarves are no light matter." The her brother said as he leaned in. "But you do not need to fear as I did kill some yes, little Kogra" he whispered with a large smirk on his face, giving the younger windwatcher a sly wink. The tiny orcess squeed in the arms of her brother, flailing wildly with her arms in sheer happiness. "Die bad dwarfs! Don't try to get us out of home" mini-Kogra said.
Oh she remembered this, Kogra had done this every time when her brother had to lead a pack to scout the surroundings, always asking directly to her brother how it went when one of her brothers went out of the city.

"One day I will go with you." The midget orcess said, seeming to make a promise to herself. Her brother had grunted before he spoke, "Maybe but that day will not be soon, I know that you are learning from our parents to become a shaman-". Before the male had been able to finish his sentence the tiny orcess interrupted. Windwatcher knew what would be the next words an moved her mouth allong acording to the word, her lips slowly turning into a smile. "A Far Seer like our wise chieftain! The little she-orc had said to interrupt her brother. "How could I forget? A Far Seer ofcourse. But you are not that yet, nor do you know how to act and fight like a warrior yet." Her brother had said as he put her down. The little orcess folded her arms in front of her and acted upset, clearly not fond of the fact that her brother forgot, everytime!

Once more did the flaps of the tent open. Windwatcher raised her eyebrows, she did not remember this part. She moved over to see who were the ones opening the flaps. Once she moved over, a large red tongue rolled out of the tent and licked her right in the face, the rough hairs on the tongue brushing on her face and applied saliva, causing her face to feel like she had just taken a swim.

The voices in the background faded as they lowered in volume and turned incomprehendable. The image faded as snow turned into grass and the cold of the wintery land turned into a warm breeze. The tent that she was standing in front of had made the weirdest methamorphoses as it had changed into a face of a canine, not just a canine, her wolf Snowstalker. She sighed a little as she was interrupted during her memory exploration but went to ruffle her wolfs fur and bring herself closer to it, pressing her own face into the bloodied face of the wolf.

Atleast one of them had a succesful evening.

(p.s. my comp doesn't have word yet nor did I run this through a spelling checker yet so please don't pay to much attention to that)

Applications / Application Kogra

Name:  Kogra
Class: Shaman (Far Seer's apprentice)
Level: 90

Tell us something about your (role)playing experience:

Where to begin hmm. it all started about 8 years ago when I got in touch with D&D which we started to play on a weekly basis, stopped about 5 years ago and started again 3 years ago.
I've been in The Cult of Shadows and the Second Gurubashi Empire as a member on Defias Brotherhood and in the Zandalari Empire on Argent Dawn.
I've joined some events with you guys already about a year ago or something on both my goblin and another orc.
I've stopped rping on wow about 8 months ago or something and I kind of got persuaded to resub and I got motivated to try and rp an orc thanks to meeting up with Rhonya and Sadok IRL, talked to them about my character and here I am applying for the guild ^^

And finally, please write a short story and/or IC introduction about your character:
Born to a pair of shaman, Kogra's training started on an early age as she wanted to follow in her parents footsteps.  Having been born in the Valley of Alterac among the frostwolf clan she lived her life in separation from the other orc clans.

Having a deep respect for her chieftain, Drek'thar, she admired his power and knowhow. She wished to be like him even though she knew it would be most unlikely and a long road to wander. She started from an early age and used this as an aspiration. Even though she practiced over and over again her ability to perceive place and time is still nowhere near what it could possibly become.

After years of trying to commune with the spirits and trying to develop her practical (and some less practical) skills she finally had sight of a place that was not in the valley... no this place looked nothing like that. it was composed of hills and the ground was... Green? She had never seen such a sight before. Being the naive orc she can sometimes be, she felt drawn to seek out these lands she saw.

Thinking it might help her progress, she explained what she saw to her tribe, packed only herself in furs and set foot onto her new path, looking for someone or something that could help her advance further.
