The Campfire / The lion sleeps tonight
May 17, 2018, 05:34:16 PM
Rain washes over stranglethorn vale only to be broken by the many trees that linger in the jungle. The constant downpour and the warmth of the land making it hard to breath for those that wander within. The humidity choking out the air that would normally be ever so refreshing.

Night had fallen, the silvery light from the moon breaking through several spots of the treetops, not able to be contained by the leafy roof that arches over the jungle. The residents of the vale were quiet with the exception of the port town, the city that hardly sleeps, as it was with most of the goblin settlements.

A lone orc sat by the edge of her tent, enjoying this particular night in her own way. The she-orc stared towards the pale lady whose colour reflected within her own eyes. Although she could not see the massive source of light within the air, she most certainly felt her presence.

Kogra smiled sheepishly as she gazed out for the starry sky. The rhythmic sound of droplets of water drumming heard beside her. Occasionally one of those drops would make its way through the canopy of the jungle only to drip upon the bulk of her black and white hair, traveling through one of her locks and falling down upon her green skin where it mixed with the perspiration from her skin.

“It has been a long time, but after all this time, my faith has been rewarded.”, the Thur’ruk mumbled to those that would hear. Her hand moved over to wipe away the glistening streaks over her cheeks. Her eyes shifted as she stared at her hand. The essence of the water not harbouring the sadness that has been felt the last few weeks, but the sense of joy and excitement.

Her mind drifted back in time, thinking back of the last few years she had been with the Red Blade. The many stories she had been part of, yet some have missed. The new orcs she had learned to know, the death of those who had been near to her, and the fall and rise of tribe and clan.

So much had come to pass, yet she could hardly phantom how it had all fit within this short span of time. During all of that she had known one thing though; she had not been complete. Part of her had faded over the last two years.

Tiredly Kogra let out a sigh with a hint of euphoria. Her ears perked as she traced the faint wheezing of the other within her tent. She couldn’t help but smile when looking over her shoulder. Quietly she prowled back within the warmth of her tent, closing the tent flap on her way in.

Carefully she crept under the pelt, moving in closer to seek the warmth. Her head aligned with that of her other half, foreheads pressed together. A scream came from the one beside her, rudely interrupted from his slumber. Kogra shushed him for a moment “Don’t worry m’wolf, it’s just me, go back to sleep.”, she spoke softly as she smiled at Gridish. A hand placed upon his cheek. “It’s all over, we’re back… we’re whole again.”, she said as she closed her eyes, allowing the night to take her mind to a new day.

Game Related / Walking blindly - My resignation
January 29, 2017, 02:26:10 PM
Greetings and salutations members of the tribe,

For a good three and a half years I’ve been part of this community, nine solid months of which I have been an officer. I can safely say that these have been good times for me in the beginning, but over the last couple of months’ things had started to deteriorate and last month has just been absolutely killing for me. I’ve been temporarily evicted from my home due to a fire, I’ve had burglars in the home, I’ve faced death within the family, and I am now also facing half a year of study delay.

The things that I did with joy before have become more and more of a chore and I’ve tried to cope with that. I’ve tried to please the people within the guild, but quite frankly I feel like that is no longer appreciated. I have tried to cope with this by doing other things that I love at the cost of RP around the campfire and the tribe, which I am feeling forced around, but frankly I can say that I do not enjoy any of that at this very moment.

I can safely say that I am utterly and absolutely broken, I wish this would’ve been able to go differently, but I don’t see any other way right now other than requiring a break away from the tribe for an undetermined time.

I hope that this all does not bring up any hard feelings for you all, and I wish that I could leave without leaving things in a big mess, but I can’t. I wish you all good luck for the coming times and sincerely hope that the tribe survives for many more years to come.

If any of you ever want to talk about anything, do poke me on Skype, Steam, Bnet, WoW, or Discord. If you don’t have my contacts, I am sure that there are many who do.

Yours truthfully,

Zico A.K.A Kogra Windwatcher, Thur’ruk, Champion, Purveyor of titles, Ballcracker, Quartermaster, and Lorekeeper of Tribe Redblade

Their time is ogre

Objective:
Reports show that those traveling in and out of the city towards the west have recently been attacked by the nearby ogres. Therefore, the filth should be put back into place so that they know that they shouldn’t be messing with the people of Garadar again.

Signed,
Thur’ruk Windwatcher

Rewards:
1 Fang per orc.

Additional notes:
IC: The ogres have been growing more aggressive, that could lead them to reckless attacks.

OOC: If you are going to DM this thing, make sure you bring several people along to make it more fun for them ^^

Notice Board / It's about Thyme
December 19, 2016, 02:40:29 PM
It’s about Thyme

Objective:
The last campaign has run our supplies dry. Now that we’re in peaceful times, we should restock. The area is rich with dreaming glory, a plant which can be recognised by the light glow around the petals. It is mainly these plants that we’re after, but other herbs are welcomed too.

Be careful whilst you’re going out there to do this, the wildlife is not always as kind to trespassers into their terrain, nor are the other “sentient” beings.

Signed,
Thur’ruk Windwatcher

Rewards:
1 Fangs per orc.

Additional notes:
OOC: Make sure you take a few people with you and make it a nice experience for all ^^

Notice Board / Elementary, my dear Kalimag
December 19, 2016, 02:39:44 PM
Elementary, my dear Kalimag

Objective:
Now that the tribe has a moment of peace, it is time for us to start tending to the spiritualistic side of our duties. Therefore I encourage anyone who wanders, or wishes to wander, the path of wisdom to hold a ritual to appease the spirits. The throne of the elements is nearby, this would make a perfect location for one for the elements.

Oshu’gun lies to the south-west which is a perfect location for one regarding the ancestral spirits. Or the burial grounds to the west can be used for that as well.

Whatever you do, make sure that you appease the spirits.

Signed,
Thur’ruk Windwatcher

Rewards:
1 Fangs per orc.

Additional notes:
OOC: This quest can be completed multiple times, but only once per different spirit

Off Topic / Season to be jolly!
December 18, 2016, 03:12:10 PM
Good afternoon everyone!

The winter grows colder, the urge to sip hot coco with 'mellows rises, trees are being felled to be placed as a decoration in people's homes, carrols are being sung every single minute of the day, children are starting to test their fireworks, and snowball fights are to be had. In other words, Christmas is arriving.

As it is with ORB tradition, one of the events in the near future will be celebrating winter's veil and there's even word that Greatfather Winter is going to be there (So be sure to bring milk and cookies). During the evening we will all be sipping on eggnog and opening gifts that are distributed.

The presents will range from hilarious to serious, and from cheap to expensive. If you wish to make a donation and make one of your fellow guildies a lucky orc by giving donating some sort of transmog, a rare pet, or a lump of coal. You can send the gift to Kogrà through mailbox, just make sure that you put a nice little wrapper around it first so that no one knows what will be given that night.

For those that we will no longer see during the coming time, merry Christmas and a happy new year to you!

Event Planning / Event chain feedback
December 04, 2016, 04:09:31 PM
As you might have noticed, the next few weeks are filled with events. These events are not our own though, instead we will be joining the Irontusk vanguard in their campaign along with some other guilds. The guilds that are known to us are Fel Hunt, Blood Howl, and the Hand of Agony.

For this campaign, since we are joining their campaign, we are using Irontusk Vanguards roll system.

If you don’t like it, don’t worry, the campaign only lasts from 4-17th of December, that is 14 days in total. 3 of these days are resting days and one of them is travel, that leaves us with a grand total of 9 days in total.
The system that they use includes HP, healing, and modifiers. The latter is something we won’t use that often.

HP

For the coming campaign, there will be a lot of people and we’re marching to drive back the demons from the southern parts of Kalimdor. To show the attrition aspect of these kinds of fights, the Irontusk Vanguard and co wished for us to use hp much like you would have in WoW itself.

The hp would be based on the rank what you currently are (This was not our idea but theirs, don’t blame us). So to just make this short, this is the hp that you will receive based on your rank.

  • New Blood, Oathbreaker, and tag-alongs: 7 hp

  • Oathbound & Seeker: 8 hp.

  • Proven & Chosen: 10 hp

  • Alpha: 12 hp

  • True Blood: 14 hp.

  • Elder: 15 hp.

  • Chieftain: 16 hp.
  • Those of military background / path of strength feel free to add +1/+2
  • Those not approving, feel free to downgrade yourself

The Hp should be mentioned in the currently / other information, or whatever kind of box you have on your specific RP-Addon

Reaching 0

reaching 0 hp means you are out of combat. you are knocked out and SUFFER a penalty of -10 to your rolls for the next day. On the resting days this “debuff” is “dispelled”. Some people want to roll with: "if I reach 0 my char is dead icly and I reroll a new one". This is not required, it is an option which we ourselves do not encourage. If people want to have their chars die, tell the DM before it happens. It is your own choice and the officers do discourage it. The intention is not there to kill off people’s characters. If they want to kill of their characters, then they are free to do so and won’t be stopped.

Healing in combat
Within the system there is some combat healing. There are limits placed upon them to make sure that people won’t be healing all the time, the reason for this is also that people are getting exhausted by performing this healing.

The idea is that all magical healers (You know who you are) are given 2 charges of healing and these charges will reset after a night’s rest for the next battle or mission to come, but this is for (combat) only.

When you perform a combat heal, you first and foremost forfeit the next Attack roll and, you must state it to the DM that you wish for such a roll. and the DM will post this for those that wish to heal only this roll.  (Healing roll during combat: 1-19: 1 hp || 20-39: 2 hp || 40-59: 3 hp || 60-79: 4 hp || 80-95: 5 hp || 96-100: 6 hp.  Emote!)

The DM is to then say "X and Y ONLY" since you are the ones asking for healing permission make sure to whisper the DM and get a reply from them so they know it

Healing outside of combat

Wounds can be treated outside of combat, which they should to avoid infections or excessive loss of blood.

  • Stitching/sewing wound: +2 hp.
  • Salving wound: + 2hp.
  • Bandage wound: +2 HP.
  • Magic healing: Full HP
  • Resting over night: +1 hp.

Keep in mind that you don’t just walk around and spam heals on everyone and then all are healed up; realism is expected. Healers -will- be worn out when they heal with magical healing. Emotes are expected for this, not just two lines and done; you should bring proper emotes.

Potions

There are various objectives throughout the campaign. Being successful at these will reward supplies and potions to be used at other occasions.

Potions In combat heal 2 hp and outside combat they heal 4 hp.

During the events there will be various objectives. We will need to get our supplies as well. So, there are wagons or packed Kodo/mounts that are meant to carry our necessary supplies and so forth. They will need protection. Gadgetzan is our main base of operations. which means that most of our supplies will originate from there.

Events

Those who will be hosting the events will try to the best of their ability to tailor RP situations in the events.  Meaning that instead of just wave after wave and then win, they will try to encourage people’s creativity to alter the outcomes of such things.

The DM will set up options for you to react on and then free emoting will be possible. Such events will possibly be for smaller raid group so there won’t be too many people waiting. A DM will still need to read through it all and see who is making which choice etc. They themselves are going to experiment with some new stuff so there is a request to be patient with them. Naturally, rolls will sometimes help determine things. The idea of this campaign is to bring forth a setting and give people enough material to enjoy RP with.

Random Events

Outside of normal events, during the day or afterwards, It is allowed for each guild to gather some random folks and make a small event where they travel back to Gadgetzan and retrieve supplies and even some main events can be about a group is doing the same while the rest keeps fighting on. The request has been made to keep the small events like these outside of main events (before they happen), so that there is no “overkill” to the amount of events (which it already is sort off). Remember that there is -always- danger and you may even fail and must retreat.

Outro

This campaign has been made to encourage inter-guild RP and to provide more RP in general. We (including the other officer teams from other guilds) wish for you all to have a great time and for us to strengthen the ties with the other guilds.

If this sort of rp is not your cup of tea, do not worry for you are not obliged to partake in any events. We will resume our own rp after this campaign.

Mok'ra to you all orcs!

Right, as some of you have noticed, the attendance has been at an all time low lately. We (The officers) are trying to solve this issue by preparing a compelling plot and also by trying some new things out.

We think it might also have something to do with the current days of RP, hence we are considering changing these days since we know that some people just can't attend at certain days. So cast your votes and we have some extra information to work with

Praise be to thee members of the Red Blade!

Recently we’ve been undergoing a few changes with the departure of two or our officers. Last week this was already mentioned but we are opening a few spots for new officers. With university starting again for the remainder of the officers it is simply too much for us to handle right now.

What does it mean to become an officer?

To become one of the more responsible ones of the guild. Whilst the members of the guild are the heart and soul, the officers are the regulatory system that brings the people something to do. You will be there to help the people out if they have questions about the guild and are there as a voice of reason when people are in an overly heated discussion in one of the many chats. Aside from that there is a collective responsibility between all the officers to work on the plotlines that will happen in the future.

But that means the entire story will be spoiled for me
!

If you do not wish to lose the mystery of what might happen in the plotlines we have thought of a solution; The IC officer. These people will still be looked up to in character but will not be involved in the plot planning. It brings a slight challenge along as you will have to help lead the tribe, but you might not know where as you are not involved in the plot planning.

But my character is no where near becoming someone with elder status.

Do not worry for we have a solution. If your character is not much of a leader, or if you just don’t want to progress through the ranks, then there is the OOC officer. These people will be there to take care of all sorts of matters on an OOC basis. Be this managing the forum, the channels, bringing in extra ideas for the guild, or help create the plots to be.

When can I apply for such an esteemed position as officer?

“signups” have started last week during the tribe meeting. The enrolment period has been extended until further notice.

Am I suitable to become the next Officer?

If you believe you have the right attitude and want to do what is best for the guild, then probably yes!

But it sounds like it is all work and no fun or benefits
.

Officers are there to help out the community and make sure the long-lasting guild does not succumb in the future. As an officer you would still be able to rp your character and have as much enjoyment from it as you had before. You will be able to see your brain babies come to fruition in the forms of plot or actual realisation of certain systems being implemented. Was that all? No! There is the unspoken undenting plan in the form of a higher allowance in guild repairs.

An undenting plan? Where do I sign up!

All you have to do is contact one of your local officers and inform them that you would like to help the guild out in this way.
Do what is right for the guild and enlist today if you have what it takes.

Scorpid Sting

Report

Ironclaw learned of giant scorpion sightings from the locals. This beast had been terrorizing the local populace for a long time now. Deciding it was enough, the Nag’ogar took action and set up a hunting party.

The hunting party consisted of Kargnar Bloodpaw, Nosh’marak Ironclaw, Rashka Facebreaker, Okram Graywolf, Arkail Blastblade, and Kogra Windwatcher.

Not far into their expedition the pack discovered a battle going on between the beast from the reports and a group of bandits. With the arrival of the pack, the beast skittered away, taunting them as he left. Having lost the majority of their group, the bandits decided to go for “easier” prey. The fools.

A battle ensued between the two parties and the tribe quickly got the upper hand as the bandits dropped one after another. They were no match for the might of the pack.

After a moment of catching their breath, the pack pursued the hellish beast, trailing it back to its nest. There the beast was found and engaged, but it was not alone. Its first action was to shower us with its spawn. As it showered us with its brood, the pack attacked, dealing blows to the beast but the majority was mitigated by the thick carapace.

It repositioned itself and struck Blastblade with its stinger and injected him with its venom. Luckily, Blastblade managed to shrug of the majority of the venom. He was noted to be significantly slower afterwards though. The tribe retaliated and struck the beast again, but the natural defense of the creature was just too strong.

More tiny scorpions erupted from the nest below, skittering onto the orcs and bit, clawed, or stabbed the orcs if they were not too careful. Graywolf managed to harness the power of the wind and create a gust of wind strong enough to momentarily clear the area of the swarming menace. This gust also left the giant scorpion reeling, exposing its unprotected underside, and creating a chance for Ironclaw to strike.

After the beast fell to the well-aimed blow of Ironclaw, the sound of skittering became noticeable again. Ten, nay, twenty medium sized scorpions formed a front and were charging right at the pack. This was the moment they decided to retreat. Facebreaker threw a bomb of sorts at the group, leaving a momentary distraction for the orcs to retreat.
The pack returned to Ramkahen to lick their wounds and resuming their previous tasks.

Off Topic / Soundtracks
February 03, 2016, 01:39:02 PM
Heyo  tribe,

I am looking to expand my library of ambient music for my dungeons and dragons group. I am looking for soundtracks that don't use any vocals or are too present, think through barrens music.
Usually rpgs have great music for this, so my question is; Does anyone know some rpg or awesome soundtrack that I could use?

At this moment I use soundtracks from:
-Wow
-Dragon age
-Darkest dungeon
-Pillars of eternity
-Fable
-Skyrim
-Two Steps From Hel  (I tend to avoid these are they are bit too present)
-Neverwinter Nights
-Warcraft 2 and 3
Dragon's Dogma

If you think there might be more awesome tracks out there, do let me know please :)

The Campfire / Land of old, Land of cold.
November 27, 2014, 12:28:07 PM
The dawn of battle
Long had the night been before the assault. Kogra had been twisting and turning, the simple thought of those that were around her dying had prevented her from getting much rest. That and the feeling of hot iron burning into her forehead.

When the morning dawned Kogra had already been awake, herself being seated on one of the nearby hills overlooking the camp and their surroundings. Her own wolf for once not being near, she had not wanted to wake it for she would need her own rest before the charge. The dying breath of a stick of incense lingered in the air as the last puff of smoke came from it. The soothing aroma still surrounding the area.

The Frostwolf had looked at her hand, it was still shaking. The sheer thought of death being so nearby had frightened her even though she didn’t want to show it to the others, she didn’t want to show that she too was afraid. After this day she would not be able to see many of them again, even if they succeeded, there would still be others on Azeroth that she would not be able to return to. Members of the tribe, members of the clan but most of all, her family. The only one that she would still be able to see, if they did succeed, would have been the one she had been around a lot lately; Sinami.

The orc stared at the camp slowly coming back to life, seeing the members of the tribe and their allies turn to their morning rituals and their final preparations before the battle. Some of them had somber faces, others had embraced their fate and greeted the day with a broad grin upon their face. She had wondered… She had wondered what others would have done in her stead, others of her own family. Her eyes closed until they were shut as she thought of this. Her tongue absent-mindly running over her parched and cracked lips to rehydrate them.
What would they have done… The thoughts lingered in her head before she started to visualize. Her father, Khadba, would have gone in order to bring those of his clan honour and glory, showing that the Frostwolf were ready to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Her younger sisters, Markara and Nikera, the twins, would have not been able to do anything, they were of age just long enough to understand what was good and what was bad. Leilany, Her younger eldest sister would have probably accompanied them to make sure everyone would be alive just long enough for the others to make preparations for their plans. As for her youngest brother, Cark, he would probably not go through the portal but rather stay behind to make sure everything on this side would go correct.

Kogra let out a deep sigh, her ice coloured eyes opening as she looked over the red expanse, looking at heaps of the red sand being swept up by the wind and be carried further down the parched lands. A smile was brought onto her face as she saw a white blur move in the corner of her eyes. Her head adjusted and her gaze shifted to, what she thought would be, Snowstalker. Her head tilted to the side as a white wolf had laid itself down next to her but to her surprise, this wolf was transparent rather than corporeal. She had known this wolf, yes… It seemed familiar. A hand moved over to brush though the white ghostlike fur but all she felt was the absence of the real deal.

It was not long before a gush of wind swept through her own hair, no… This was not a normal wind. when she looked up, she saw a ghostly orcish hand ruffling her head, its motions send her hair moving as if caressed by a breeze. The smile that was already upon her face grew slightly when she had traced the hand back to its owner, A male who’s bare chest had a scar running from one end to the other. Two ruby like eyes stared at her from underneath a wolf mask, thick pitch black braids cascaded from underneath it.
“Have you come to help me get to the ancestors?”, the she-orc had said, her head turning back to the ghostly wolf beside her.
“A mere visit as of now, you seem to have the need of company. Or would you rather have me leave?” The male responded, his mouth forming into a grin as he retracted his hand from the head of Kogra and now folded them in front of him.
She sighed, her hand still running through the thick ghostly fur of the wolf beside her. “Why have you two come here? Why now?”, Kogra had spoken softly as if she didn’t even want the others to hear.

The male had grunted in response, his head tilting to the right causing the thick black braids to dangle in the wind. “Don’t try to act so tough now, there’s no need for it. It is only us here, no one else, sister.” Aghan had said and upon that moment Kogra had stood up to face her taller brother. Her blue gaze contrasting that of his. A trembling hand moving up to try and remove the wolf mask of her brother but once more did she just grasp the thin air. “I’m afraid… I’m what will happen if we do not succeed. I’m afraid of what will come to the family and my friends… I’m afraid of what will happen beyond the portal. Spirits had shown me that we would get through but they had not graced me with the knowledge of what comes after. Aghan… I’m afraid.” Kogra had said, a lump forming in her throat as tears welled up behind her eyes.

“Not all should be known. Knowing is a good thing but it Is boring. Ye can influence that which ye have the knowledge off that will come but ye will no longer have anything surprise ye. As of what will happen with the family, they will stay safe as long as ye succeed with yer mission. I know what ye want to ask and to answer that, I would have done the same what ye did right now. Fear is a natural thing, it shows that ye care which is a good thing. Those who do not fear become reckless and when ye become reckless, ye will stop looking after yerself.” Her brother said, making long steps as he strode to stand next to the wolf, a hand moving out to scratch him behind his ear it, in response, letting out some sounds of satisfaction.

Moments of silence passed, nothing but the sound of wind brushing against the nearby surroundings. The female had moved a hand over to rub the bridge of her nose, her gaze still set upon the ghostly presence of her brother and his wolf. She shook her head with a soft sigh coming from her being. Her gaze had glanced to look at the camp for a moment before looking back at the place where her brother stood only to be met by an empty space.
It would seem the spirits would not be able to aid her any further, not the elemental nor the ancestral.

A cold wet nose she felt prodding against her hand. She looked over and saw that Snowstalker had moved next to her. With a slight scratch behind the ear of her wolf she formed a smile upon her face.

At least not all spirits had refused to give her aid. The spirit of the wild was still with her.
