Title: Looking for help from music experienced people.
Post by: Greggar on November 18, 2010, 06:35:53 PM
I got an interesting task from college today. In 7 weeks I need to find a song and translate the music into a video. For example stopmotion with everything moving in the rhytm of the music.

And I will abuse my authority to "do research in the arts" and so I'm asking if anyone who has experience with music who can perhaps help me (no, not doing the task yourself. Just helping me) regarding choosing the right song and what I must know in order to "cut" the music into pieces and stick it onto images and all that. Or simply how to do this in i-movie or other programs.

Much appreciated!

well, I WOULD think that any movie-maker program will do it fine, I even think that windows movie maker is good for it!

regarding the song, what are you looking at doing? For example, the stop motion would be AAAAAAAAAAAAWSOME if you did it epicly just plain drawings to perhaps Amon Amarth "Embrace oif the endless ocean" or an equally epic power metal song, where the story is really strong (also Blind GUardian "Sacred" for example) but the rythm isn't that fast, since both songs are kindof long so that it wouldn't be so many pics!

I'd love to help you, (hell, I'd love to do it myself!) but since the army takes much time, I don't know if I can. But just poke me in game or send me an email (dahl102pluton@gmail.com) with the questions or whatever you wanted help with and ill try and answer them! The mail is sure to reach me, since I check that almost every hour :P

Good luck with it greggboi! and I look foreward to see it!

Well, regarding the song, you have to keep in mind that I will need to diject the song into every piece of music in it. Like guitar, voice, etc. And need to make the images react to each and every single one of them.

For cutting the music, I suggest a good free DAW. Something like REAPER or Audacity should do the trick.

Yeah. Audacity is Free. REAPER is free as long as you don't use for commercial stuff.
